Chapter 605: Inviting Aurelie to the Wedding
"Hey," Vivienne glanced at Bryan, who was just hanging around, "since you're here, why not stay for dinner?"
Bryan had been dropping by a lot lately, but this was the first time she actually invited him to stick around.
Bryan felt kinda flattered.
Vivienne headed upstairs, and Cecily looked worried. She felt Vivienne's health was really going downhill.
Rowan and Griffin tugged at Cecily's hand, "Mommy, is Grandma sick? We wanted to show her your and Daddy's wedding certificate."
Cecily felt a bit choked up, "Yeah, Grandma's not feeling well, but she'll be okay soon. Let's stay here with her for a few more days, alright?"
Griffin nodded, "Sure, once Grandma's better, we can head back."
Rowan nodded too.
Cecily sighed softly.
When dinner rolled around, Vivienne set up a fancy spread, but she didn't come downstairs, saying she didn't want to pass her cold to everyone.
Cecily barely ate and made some medicine for Vivienne herself, but a servant stopped her at the door.
"Why are you stopping me?" she asked.
"Ms. Cecily Bennett, Ms. Vivienne Bennett said she's worried about spreading her cold to you. Please, let me take the medicine," the servant reached out for the cup.
Cecily didn't hand it over, "I'm not that fragile, and I'm not scared of getting sick. Besides, if you go in, it's the same as me going in. If it's contagious, we're both already exposed."
Cecily was determined to go in, but suddenly the cup was snatched from her hand. She turned to see it was Bryan.
Cecily frowned, "What are you doing?"
"She's my wife. If anyone should take care of her, it's me. Step aside," Bryan raised an eyebrow at Cecily.
"She's my mom. You step aside." Cecily reached for the cup, but Bryan, being taller, held it high out of her reach.
Bryan smirked, "I'm still your dad. Listen to me."
"I don't think so. Give me back the medicine," Cecily snapped.
"Let Bryan in, Cecily. You go back to your room and rest," Vivienne's voice came from inside the room.
Cecily blinked in surprise, finding it hard to believe when she was looking at Bryan's smug expression. Vivienne chose Bryan.
"Listen to your mom, go to your room and sleep," Bryan said as he walked into Vivienne's room with the medicine and closed the door.
Cecily's lips parted, but she couldn't say a word. She left with a frustrated expression.
Vivienne's illness seemed really serious this time. Cecily was worried and decided to stay a few more days. After talking it over with Darian, Darian postponed his work to stay with Cecily.
For two days straight, Cecily barely got to see Vivienne. Vivienne kept Bryan around, and every time Cecily wanted to visit, Bryan got there first.
Meanwhile, Aurelie wasn't having a chill time at Silver Frost Capital either. Even though no one bothered her at Nathaniel's apartment, she knew it was just a matter of time. Her troubles weren't over.
She saw the check Cecily had left for her.
But she stuffed the check in her bag, planning to return it to Cecily when she came back. 200 million dollars, Cecily was willing to help her, but she wouldn't take it.
As for Barbara, who got taken to the police station with her that night, Aurelie decided to let it slide.
Of course, she chose not to pursue it. It was more peaceful inside than outside. If those three were locked up for a few months because of this, wouldn't all the casino folks come after her alone?
After lunch, Aurelie looked at the calendar. Three days had passed. Tomorrow was Nathaniel and Lillian's wedding.
Aurelie's face was calm, but her heart was anything but.
Just then, her phone rang, interrupting her thoughts.
She looked at the screen; it was an unknown number.
After thinking for a moment, Aurelie answered, and Lillian's voice came through, "Aurelie."
Aurelie frowned, "Lillian, how'd you get my number?"
This phone was a backup she had left at home, and not many people knew its number.
"Is it strange? I got it from Nathaniel," Lillian's voice was as smug as ever.
Aurelie calmed herself, "Get to the point."
Tomorrow was her and Nathaniel's wedding. Aurelie thought that besides showing off, there shouldn't be any other reason for her call.
"Tomorrow is my wedding with Nathaniel, Miss Miller. I know where you live, and I've sent you an invitation. Please make sure to attend our wedding tomorrow," Lillian smiled.
