Chapter 107 Looking for Cecily's Child

The two halted in their tracks at the sight of the large knife in Aurelie's hand.

"Aurelie, have you lost your mind?" Elysia furrowed her brows. "Why are you stopping me from entering my sister's room? What right do you have to stop me?"

"Sister? Don't falsely claim relatives. Cecily would never have a shameless sister like you."

"You!" Elysia took a step forward.

Aurelie brandished the knife in the air and bellowed, "Take another step closer, and I swear you'll enter standing and leave lying down."

The two were intimidated by Aurelie's ferocity and exchanged worried looks, suddenly too scared to make any rash moves.

Cecily walked into her home to find quite the chaotic scene. Aurelie was wildly waving a kitchen knife in the air, Elysia was cowering behind Raphael, and Raphael's face was a mask of ugliness.

With furrowed brows, Cecily strode over.

"Cecily."

Upon seeing Cecily return, Aurelie finally exhaled a sigh of relief.

Cecily knew how troublesome these two could be. Otherwise, Aurelie and Aunt Mary wouldn't have been pushed to the point of grabbing a knife. She gave Aurelie and Aunt Mary a grateful glance.

Raphael spoke up, "Cecily, tell your friend and this maid to step aside. I'm your father, and it's absurd that I get blocked when I come to your house."

"Get out," Cecily said crisply.

Raphael seemed not to hear clearly, "What did you say?"

"I said get out!" Cecily raised her voice, her cold stare fixed on the two.

Raphael's complexion turned an even darker shade of anger, "Say that again."

"I told the two of you to get out. This is my home. Did I invite you in?" Cecily's tone was brooding and succinct.

"You! You, you ingrate! I'm your father, and you dare talk to me like that, you..."

Raphael raised his hand, aiming to slap Cecily across the face.

Before his hand could reach Cecily, an icy voice interrupted from behind, "Touch her and see what happens."

Looking toward the entrance, Raphael felt a sudden lurch in his heart.

Darian stood in the doorway, his tall, lean figure casting a formidable shadow. The cold frost on his handsome face sent shivers down one's spine.

His piercing gaze rested on Raphael, and without doing anything else, Raphael knew better than to let his hand fall.

"D-Drian Fitzgerald," Elysia eventually stammered out Darian's name, causing Raphael to come to his senses and quickly lower his hand.

Immediately, Raphael's demeanor turned obsequious, "Mr. Fitzgerald? What brings you here?"

Darian's features were clouded with a chill, his eyes narrowed, his voice icy, "What are you doing here?"

At those words, Raphael stiffly forced a smile, "I... I just wanted to check on my daughter, nothing more."

"Is that so?" Darian strode forward, step by step until he was beside Cecily, "But she doesn't want to see you."

"Mr..."

"Leave."

Both Raphael and another figure shivered, a wave of cold washing over them.

Elysia bit her lip, thinking of what Ophelia had tasked her with—if Darian knew Cecily had shamelessly had a child with another man, he would scorn her and would no longer support her.

With that thought, Elysia steeled herself, approached confidently, and said, "Mr. Fitzgerald, we're here to see my sister about a matter that also concerns you."

Cecily felt a tightening in her chest, gripping her hands tightly.

Elysia looked toward Cecily, a mocking smile curling her lips as she opened her mouth to speak.

Darian's gaze was sharp and cold, "I'm not interested."

Elysia's voice suddenly got stuck in her throat, her face turning unsightly.

Aurelie couldn't help but snicker at the irony of Elysia's efforts to tattle falling on deaf ears.

Annoyed, Elysia clenched her fists, "Mr. Fitzgerald, don't you care that Cecily secretly had a child?"

Cecily's heart shook violently, her hands tightening further.

Aurelie's face also changed, "Elysia, what nonsense are you spouting?"

"Why the panic? Mr. Fitzgerald, she had a child with another man while abroad, and that child is in this room right now," Elysia exclaimed loudly.

Darian's brow furrowed deeply, his dark eyes narrowed, unsure whether to believe it.

Cecily looked up at Darian, her heartbeat quickening.

"Is what she says true?" Darian's deep gaze fixed on Cecily.

"It's false," Cecily met his eyes squarely, "I have no idea why she's suddenly making baseless claims that I had another man's child."

"I'm without evidence? Last night, when you were on the phone with Dad, there was clearly a child's voice on your end."

"Really? I didn't hear anything, but you two did. That's quite miraculous," Cecily retorted to Elysia with an icy tone.

Elysia knew Cecily would deny it but wasn't worried. After all, if the child was in the house, they would find him easily.

"If you say there's no child, then why are you afraid to let us into your room?"

Cecily's gaze grew colder. "My house, my room, why should I let you waltz in as you please? Who do you think you are?"

"Heh." Elysia let out a cold, frustrated laugh. "Ultimately, you're just too scared to let us search."

Darian had an ominous look on his face, his eyes narrowed and inscrutable.

Cecily hadn't anticipated their confrontation.

No matter what, she couldn't let they discover the child. Knowing that she had a child would complicate things immensely and could put the child in unnecessary danger.

At that moment, a slender figure appeared at the doorway. Ophelia walked in hurriedly, both delighted and startled to see Darian present.

Elysia felt more at ease with Ophelia's arrival, signaling with her eyes that the child was in Cecily's room.

A smile was unstoppable in Ophelia's eyes.

'Cecily, you're done for. Let's see how you dodge this.'

"Darian."

Darian glanced at her disinterestedly and asked unhappily, "What are you doing here?"

"I heard from Elysia that she was at Miss Cecily's place, and coincidentally, I had something to discuss with Miss Cecily, so I came over."

Ophelia looked around, feigning ignorance. "What's going on here? Something happened?"

Cecily's face, ordinarily poised, now bore a mocking expression. "What is this, a hotel or a diner? People just barge in without so much as a hello."

Ophelia chuckled. "The door was open, so I walked right in."

"Do you usually just walk into other people's houses when the door is open?"

"Of course not. I thought Miss Cecily and I were friends, and that's why I came in without knocking."

"Friends? Sorry, I don't know you," Cecily spoke with a voice devoid of warmth.

Ophelia's face quickly flashed with a few shades of embarrassment, "I'm sorry, Miss Cecily, it was my fault..."

"If you know it's wrong, why don't you leave?"
