Chapter 360 Owing Too Much, Repaying with My All

They were both smart people, and some things didn't need to be fully explained.

Cecily's curled fingers tightened, her voice suddenly turning cold, "Was it you who ordered Rowan to be taken away?"

"Yes, at that time Ophelia had lost her child. I also thought you had killed her child, so I had people watch you, intending to repay an eye for an eye."

"You sent people to kill the child in my womb for revenge?"

"Yes," Landon admitted. That was indeed his initial plan, but Darian acted faster.

"So, even if I hadn't been thrown out of the Fitzgerald family by Darian, leading to a premature birth, I would have been killed by the people you sent."

Cecily laughed coldly in her anger.

How many eyes had been on her back then? It was a miracle she was still alive, a mercy from heaven.

"Since you took my child to avenge Ophelia, why did you send him to the Fitzgerald family? You should have known that because my child was with Darian, Ophelia lived in fear for five years."

Landon lowered his eyes and continued, "I hadn't planned to, but later I found out it was Ophelia who had killed the child to frame you. I sent your child to the Fitzgerald family to make her afraid, to make her suffer."

Cecily finally understood.

Landon initially thought she had killed Ophelia's child and wanted revenge. Later, when he found out it was Ophelia's own doing, he wanted to retaliate against her.

But what about Cecily? What about her child?

What had they done wrong?

If he had acted before realizing it was Ophelia's doing, and his people had killed her and her child, where would she find justice?

Cecily smiled bitterly, "Why couldn't you find out the truth before acting?"

"So, I am very sorry."

"Sorry? That's putting it lightly," Cecily felt a bit of irony.

"And later, since you knew it was Ophelia's scheme, why did you still shoot me?

Oh, because Ophelia showed you the video of Eliza impersonating me, right?"

"Yes," Landon responded heavily, "I didn't expect things to be so complicated. In the end, you were the most tragic victim."

Cecily had never intended to harm anyone, yet everyone had conspired against her.

If they hadn't jumped to conclusions so early, perhaps she wouldn't have suffered so much back then.

Feeling that there was no woman more unfortunate than Cecily, Landon looked at her with a bit of sympathy.

"Isn't it a miracle that I've survived until now?"

Even Cecily felt sorry for herself.

Landon looked at her, his long eyes filled with more regret.

Revenge against her was the biggest mistake of his life, without a doubt.

"If you still hold a grudge, I can let you take revenge."

Cecily laughed lightly, a bit sarcastically, "Do you think I'm like you? Always seeking revenge on others."

Landon said nothing.

With a sigh, Cecily coldly said, "You can leave now."

"Just like that?"

"Or should I send someone to run you over with a car?"

Landon's lips tightened, and his eyes held complex emotions Cecily couldn't see. He stood up straight, "If you need help in the future, you can always ask me."

This was Landon's promise.

Cecily's brow furrowed slightly, "There is indeed one thing, and only you can do it."

"Tell me."

Landon thought Cecily might ask him to help torment Ophelia after their marriage.

After hearing Cecily out, he narrowed his eyes, "Do you trust me that much?"

"You dared to confess everything you did, which shows you have some integrity. Plus, with your guilt towards me, you're very suitable for this task."

Landon's eyelids twitched, "You know Evander, he could do this too."

Cecily smiled but didn't answer.

"True," Landon laughed meaningfully, "Evander likes you; he wouldn't help you."

"So, will you help or not?"

With a light laugh, he replied, "Alright, as long as you don't regret it. This task is just a bit of effort for me."

"After this, we're even."

Landon now found himself somewhat admiring her, "What I just said still stands."

With that, Landon turned and left.

Cecily sat alone on the sofa for a long time; no one knew what she was thinking.

Darian had been very busy lately, while Cecily stayed home to recover. With the best medicine and special care, she was healing quickly.

After a few days at home, Darian said he wanted to take her to the hospital for a full check-up, and Cecily had no reason to refuse.

After a thorough examination, her body was recovering well.

Cecily's eyes had been severely injured and were in poor condition, making surgery risky. Now, with significant improvement, the doctor nodded approvingly at Darian.

Darian's extremely tense expression relaxed, and he looked at the woman beside him with a softer gaze.

In the evening, Cecily wanted to go to the garden. Darian brought a blanket to cover her and took her to sit on the double swing in the garden.

Cecily leaned softly against Darian's chest, the gentle breeze carrying the scent of flowers. She took a deep breath, a faint smile spreading across her face.

"Darian, don't you think this is nice? Even though I can't see, I know you're all here with me."

Darian carefully lifted Cecily onto his lap, his expression filled with a sorrow she couldn't see, "But I want your future to be perfect."

Darian thought that if Cecily hadn't married him, she would be healthy, married to a man who loved her, and raising adorable children in a stable life.

Blaise was right; not only had he failed to protect her, but he had also brought her harm. He wasn't a qualified husband.

Now, what he could make up to Cecily was a future of happiness and freedom.

Cecily leaned against Darian's broad shoulder. Gradually, she felt an uncontrollable drowsiness. Just before she fell asleep, she tightly grasped Darian's hand.

Listening to her steady breathing, Darian's eyes showed tender sorrow. He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it gently.

"I'm sorry, Cecily. I owe you too much. I should repay you with everything I have."
