Chapter 639 Nathaniel Knows Aurelie's Pregnancy Secret
"You think snatching my wife and kid is gonna make me let you off the hook? Keep dreaming." Stanley pulled out his gun and aimed it right at Nathaniel.
Suddenly, the door burst open, and Nathaniel's guys barged in, dragging a woman and a crying child with them.
The woman was Stanley's wife, Isadora Penrose. She was still reeling from the shock and trying to calm their scared son, Marshall Kensington.
Isadora's eyes locked onto Stanley, her face tight with worry. "Stanley, what the hell did you do this time?"
She always knew Stanley wasn't exactly a saint, with all those women on the side, but she put up with it.
She knew things were getting bad lately. Stanley had told her to take Marshall abroad, which clued her in that things were worse than she thought. So, she didn't waste any time and left with their kid.
But as soon as they got abroad, they were nabbed and brought back. Seeing the tense standoff, Isadora started to freak out.
"Let us go. It's a fair trade," Nathaniel said, cutting straight to the point.
Right now, both men had someone the other cared about. Nathaniel had seen Stanley's moves coming and was ready for them.
Panicking, Isadora looked between the two men and quickly said to Stanley, "Stanley, I told you I don't care about your messes, just keep me and the kid out of it. As my husband and Marshall's dad, can't you at least do that?"
Isadora was sharp. She knew she couldn't control Stanley, but the Penrose and Kensington family businesses were intertwined, so she had to put up with him. Her only ask was that whatever Stanley did, he wouldn't drag her and Marshall into it.
But now, they were both clearly in danger.
Stanley clenched his fists and yelled, "Shut up! What do you know?"
"I know that Marshall and I are at someone else's mercy now. If you give him what he wants, he'll let us go. I don't care what you do, but you promised me you wouldn't let Marshall and me get hurt," Isadora shouted, her eyes welling up.
She had never been in a situation like this and was terrified, especially with Marshall there. If something happened, the trauma to their kid would be unimaginable.
"Shut up," Stanley snapped, irritated.
Nathaniel pushed, "Release Aurelie!"
"Never."
"Let them go!" Isadora screamed.
"Daddy, save me!" Marshall cried out in fear.
"Shut up, all of you, shut up!" Stanley, overwhelmed, pointed his gun directly at Nathaniel. "One for one? Fine, but you're still not getting away."
Nathaniel's eyes narrowed.
Stanley waved his hand, and someone from the next room brought Aurelie over. Stanley grabbed her and pointed the gun at her stomach.
Aurelie froze, her whole body tense, not daring to move.
Stanley sneered, "Bet you didn't know she's carrying your kid, did you?"
Nathaniel's eyes widened, locking onto Aurelie.
Seeing Nathaniel's shock, Stanley laughed like a madman. "Terry dug up her hospital records. Turns out, she didn't miscarry. The baby's still fine. It's been over four months, right? In about five more, you'll be a dad. Aurelie lied to you, and you bought it."
Nathaniel's brow furrowed. One look at Aurelie's face told him Stanley was telling the truth.
A storm of emotions hit him, but before he could say anything, Stanley kept going, "So even if it's one for one, you're not getting away."
"Then let her and the kid go," Nathaniel said.
"No way," Lillian cut in. She glared at Stanley. "Stanley, my people helped you nab her. You don't get to decide to let her go without asking me, and I say no."
Lillian's beef was with Aurelie. Stanley's wife and kid were none of her business. She wasn't about to let Stanley make the call to trade Aurelie.
"Get lost," Stanley snapped, not giving Lillian the time of day.
Lillian fumed, "Stanley, if you let Aurelie go, you lose your leverage over Nathaniel. Don't do it!"
"I make my own decisions. I don't need you bossing me around," Stanley, already on edge, had no patience left for Lillian.
As the two argued, Aurelie gritted her teeth and tried to break free from Stanley's grip.
But Stanley was quick. He yanked her back and pressed the gun to her head.
Nathaniel's men, who had just stormed in, immediately raised their guns. The room was a powder keg ready to blow.
"Trying to run?" Stanley's face darkened. "Aurelie, do you think I'm a joke? Try anything, and you're dead."
Stanley was a trained fighter. His reflexes and strength were way beyond what a pregnant woman like Aurelie could handle.
"If you hurt her, I swear I'll send you to hell," Nathaniel said, his eyes cold and deadly.
Stanley glanced at Nathaniel, a twisted smile on his face. "Take your men and get out." He pressed the gun harder against Aurelie's head, full of threats.
Isadora watched, knowing that if Stanley lost it, she and Marshall were done for. "Stanley, don't be stupid. Let them go, and he'll let us go. It's better for everyone. You two are blood brothers; there's no need for this."
Stanley laughed at Isadora's naivety. "You really think if I let them go, Nathaniel will spare me? You think he'll let us go because we're family? That's a joke. If I let them go, I'm dead."
