Chapter 434 He Definitely Won't Let You Go
Jennifer's face went pale, and the fear in her bloodshot eyes grew.
Vivienne hinted that if Freya hadn't saved the child, both would be dead.
"You can't do that! You have no right!"
Vivienne smirked. "And you have the right to hire someone to kill my daughter? Think I won't get mad?"
"It wasn't us! We didn't do it! What proof do you have?" Jennifer's body was tense, fear oozing from every pore.
"You think I don't have proof?" Vivienne picked up some papers from the table and tossed them at Jennifer.
Jennifer trembled, quickly picking up the papers and reading them with shaking hands.
Her heart skipped a beat. "No way, you forged this! Vivienne, you must've faked this! We didn't do it! Where did these come from? You're recording, aren't you? You can't trick me into confessing. It wasn't me!"
Jennifer shouted, refusing to admit it. She knew confessing would be the end. She needed Bryan to save her.
She tore up the evidence, scrambled up, pulled out her phone, and dialed Bryan.
Holding the phone up to Vivienne, she yelled, "Vivienne, I called Bryan. He'll save me. You can't convict me with these papers. No way."
Vivienne stayed calm, as if expecting this.
"Vivienne, you can't kill me. Even if you did, Bryan wouldn't forgive you. He'd hate you and divorce you."
Jennifer was frantic and incoherent.
Vivienne chuckled. "Hate me, divorce me? Fine by me. Remember, he's the one who won't divorce. But if he does because of you, great."
The call connected.
Jennifer, desperate, shouted, "Bryan, help! Vivienne wants to kill me! Help!"
Bryan's voice tightened. "Where are you?"
"I don't know!"
"Don't worry, I'll figure something out."
Bryan hung up and immediately, Vivienne's phone rang. She glanced at it, her cold eyes showing no tension.
Jennifer took a deep breath. Bryan was on his way. She didn't think Vivienne would dare touch her now. She sneered at Vivienne. "Bryan's coming. If you touch me, he won't let you off."
Bryan had just returned to the hospital and couldn't find Jennifer. Sensing something was wrong, he called Cecily since Vivienne wasn't answering.
Cecily had just returned to Darian's ward. Seeing her phone ring, she didn't plan to answer.
Darian, busy with documents, asked, "Bryan's calling. Did something happen to Jennifer or Freya?"
Cecily paused, looking at Darian curiously.
Darian smiled. "What's up?"
"How did you know it was Bryan?"
Darian finished signing a document and put it aside. Seeing Cecily's curious look, he pulled her into his lap.
Caught off guard, Cecily's heart tightened. "Careful of your injury."
"It's fine," Darian said, smiling at her cautious expression. "I'm not that fragile."
Cecily blinked, avoiding his gaze. "Is your work done?"
"Not yet, it's never-ending."
Cecily tried to stand. "I won't disturb you then."
"You're not disturbing me. It's good to take breaks." Darian held her close, his breath warm on her cheek, making her tense.
Cecily cleared her throat, pushing against his chest. "Darian, we both have injuries. Stop thinking nonsense."
"Nonsense?" Darian chuckled. "I just want to hold you. You're the one thinking nonsense."
"I'm not. Stop talking." Cecily slapped his hand away, stood up, and sat beside him. "I'll call a nurse later. Rowan and Griffin, though their fever's down, were scared last night. I need to be with them."
"You're running around too much. I'll be discharged tomorrow."
Cecily glared at him. "What did you say?"
"Tomorrow," Darian paused, "I'll stay for observation."
"That's more like it."
"Sir, you can't go in there." Suddenly, there was a commotion at the door.
"I'm looking for Cecily."
It was Bryan's voice.
