Chapter 709 Never Recognizing Mistakes

Without giving her a chance to rest, another loud smack landed, causing Giselle to shudder violently. She closed her eyes and bit her lip.

After just five strikes, her forehead was covered in cold sweat.

The sound of the ruler hitting her hand was terrifying.

Hunter watched Giselle suffer, feeling heartbroken. He stepped forward to stop it but was blocked by people Desmond had arranged in advance.

Hunter watched helplessly as Giselle was punished, his emotions extremely agitated. "It's my fault for not teaching her well. If you need to hit someone, hit me."

Desmond ignored him and continued to strike Giselle's palm with the ruler.

"Desmond, did you hear me? I'm willing to take her punishment. Stop it right now!" Hunter shouted.

Desmond did not stop. Giselle held on with all her strength, and by the twentieth strike, her entire hand was bright red and numb from the pain.

Giselle bit her lip hard, refusing to make a sound.

By the thirtieth strike, her hand finally gave out, and she collapsed to the ground, tears mixed with sweat streaming down her cheeks.

Desmond still maintained a stern expression, looking down at Giselle. "Miss Bennett, do you realize your mistake now?"

Giselle said nothing, her eyes filled with hatred as she stared unblinkingly at Desmond.

Seeing her expression, Desmond knew that someone like her would never admit to her mistakes.

Originally, if she had just admitted her mistake, the remaining forty strikes could have been spared. But since she refused, Desmond said nothing more.

"Miss Bennett, since you won't admit your mistake, let's continue. Raise your hand," Desmond said.

Giselle trembled as she raised her hand. The ruler came down again, hurting even more than the previous thirty strikes. Giselle finally couldn't hold back a muffled groan.

Hunter shouted, "Giselle, just admit your mistake!"

Hunter knew that if Giselle admitted her mistake, the punishment would stop.

But Giselle said nothing, stubbornly holding on.

She didn't think she was wrong.

The only mistake was that Hunter wasn't the head of the family. If Hunter were the head, she wouldn't be the one being punished today. Hatred filled her heart.

Hunter knew Giselle was strong-willed and would never admit her mistake at this moment. He could only close his eyes tightly.

After seventy strikes, Giselle was completely limp on the ground, drenched in cold sweat, her clothes soaked as if she had just been pulled out of water.

Her already swollen hand accidentally touched the ground, causing her to nearly gasp in pain.

"Giselle!" Hunter rushed forward, pushing Desmond aside to check on Giselle's hand. Seeing the state of her hands, he glared angrily at Desmond.

Desmond maintained his stern expression and said nothing.

He had already gone easy on her; otherwise, Giselle wouldn't have been able to endure it.

"Take Miss Bennett back quickly. I hope she remembers this lesson and doesn't make the same mistake again. Otherwise, next time it won't be just a family punishment."

Hunter tried to help the trembling Giselle, but she stubbornly pushed him away.

Giselle bit her pale lip and struggled to stand up. Her eyes grew sharper and colder, showing no sign of remorse.

"I will remember today's lesson, and I hope you all remember everything you did to me today." With that, Giselle turned and staggered away.

Hunter and Keaen quickly followed her out.

Desmond watched Giselle and shook his head helplessly.

If Giselle kept this attitude, she would get into big trouble sooner or later.

"Don't expect her to realize her mistake." Cecily knew that even now, Giselle didn't think she was wrong. People's nature couldn't be changed.

Outside, Giselle, stumbling, was stopped by Hunter. "Where are you going? I'll take you to the hospital."

"Dad, you saw it. If you were the head of the family, how could I have suffered this?"

Hunter felt guilty but knew that Giselle was indeed wrong this time.

"Let's not talk about this now. I'll take you to the hospital to bandage your hand first."

Giselle's hand was so swollen it was painful to look at.

"I don't want to go. Let me go." Giselle avoided Hunter's hand. "I hate Cecily, I hate Vivienne, and I hate you. Why aren't you the head of the family? If you were, no one would have dared to treat me like this last night, and no one would dare to hit me today."

Hunter was very troubled, knowing Giselle was angry.

Keaen tried to persuade her, "Giselle, listen to Hunter. Let's treat your hand first, and we'll discuss everything else later."

"You go away too. I don't need either of you."

Giselle didn't want to see them at all.

She turned and left on her own. The driver by the car quickly opened the door for her. Without looking back, Giselle got in and left.

"Giselle!" Hunter tried to catch up but couldn't.

"Hunter, will Giselle be okay?" Keaen asked worriedly.

Hunter looked serious. He knew Giselle's strong-willed nature. The humiliation she suffered these days was a huge blow to her, and she needed time to calm down.

"No, she needs to calm down on her own. Don't worry about her. She'll come back when she's ready."

Keaen withdrew his gaze, his voice heavy. "Vivienne and Cecily went too far. They didn't show Giselle any respect."

Hunter clenched his fists, thinking for a few seconds, but said nothing, lost in thought.

"Hunter, we can't let Giselle be bullied like this."

"I'll make them pay." Hunter narrowed his eyes, filled with calculation and anger.

Sitting in the car, Giselle looked at her swollen hand. She clenched her fist tightly, as if to remember the pain.

She murmured, "Cecily, your days on top are numbered. Just wait. I'll make you pay double for today's humiliation."
