Chapter 685 Daddy, Honesty Is the Best Policy

Cecily suddenly woke up and looked at the two little ones lying by her bed. For a moment, she thought she was seeing things. "Rowan, Griffin? When did you get here?"

They took off their shoes and climbed into bed, snuggling into Cecily's arms. "Mommy, we missed you so much. Daddy brought us here."

When Darian walked in, he saw them energetically diving into Cecily's arms. He immediately came over and picked them up, one in each hand. "Be careful. Your mommy is pregnant now. You might hurt her."

They were so excited that they forgot Darian's instructions on the way over.

Griffin waved his hand happily. "Okay, we understand. We'll be very careful."

Only then did Darian feel at ease and put them back on the bed.

Cecily chuckled. "You disappeared for an entire afternoon just to bring Rowan and Griffin over?"

Darian nodded. "Surprised?"

"Yes." Cecily looked at her two sons, smiling.

Griffin lay on the bed, carefully reaching out to touch Cecily's belly. "Mommy, is there a baby brother or sister in there?"

Cecily lovingly patted Griffin's little head and smiled. "Yes, Griffin. Do you want a brother or a sister?"

"Both are good." Griffin's chubby face beamed with a smile.

"What about you, Rowan?" Cecily looked at Rowan.

"The same." Rowan gave a big smile.

Seeing her children after a few days, Cecily thought of Aurelie. With Rowan and Griffin in Detroit, no one could chat with Aurelie. Cecily worried that Aurelie might feel lonely and overthink things.

"Are you worried about Aurelie?" Darian asked.

Darian understood Cecily more and more now. He could tell what she was thinking with just a slight frown.

"Yes, Nathaniel is still missing. It's the hardest time for Aurelie. She's all alone in Silver Frost Capital, and I'm worried about her."

"Don't worry about me." Aurelie stood at the door and walked in.

Cecily was surprised.

Aurelie saw Cecily's surprised expression and smiled gently, indicating she was also surprised. She had been at home all afternoon when Darian suddenly showed up.

She thought Darian had some urgent matter, but he simply said he was worried she might feel lonely and brought her to Detroit for a change of scenery.

Aurelie was startled. Cecily's husband cared so much about her that she felt she had to avoid it. She initially refused.

But then Darian said seriously, "If you don't go, Cecily will worry about you. If she worries, she'll be in a bad mood, so you must go."

Aurelie smiled wryly, so she came.

Cecily looked at Darian, feeling touched. Darian understood her now.

"You guys chat. I have some things to take care of." Darian patted Cecily's head and walked out.

Aurelie was almost six months pregnant. Even in loose clothing, her belly was noticeable.

"Sit down and be careful." Cecily, seeing Aurelie's big belly, was afraid she might bump into something.

Aurelie sat down, holding her waist. Knowing Cecily was pregnant, she was genuinely happy for her.

"You should be the one being careful. My pregnancy is stable now, just waiting for delivery. But you're in the first three months, the most critical time. Darian told me your morning sickness is severe?"

"It's much worse than when I was pregnant with Rowan and Griffin."

"Is it because the baby brother or sister is too noisy in mommy's belly?" Griffin touched Cecily's belly and seriously said to it, "You have to be good; stay quiet, and don't make a fuss, okay?"

Cecily was amused by Griffin's serious talk to the baby in her belly. "They'll definitely hear you."

"Really?"

"Yes."

The four of them chatted about various topics in the room. With Rowan and Griffin around, the room was always filled with laughter. Neither Aurelie nor Cecily mentioned Nathaniel.

Aurelie believed he would come back, so she took good care of the baby in her belly, waiting for Nathaniel's return.

Cecily arranged a room for Aurelie. Pregnant women shouldn't be tired, so Cecily urged Aurelie to sleep when it was time.

Cecily herself was also sleepy. When Darian returned to the room, he saw Cecily asleep, with Rowan and Griffin snuggled up on either side of her like two little knights.

The three of them were sleeping soundly, and Darian walked quietly.

Rowan and Griffin, having just fallen asleep, woke up at the sound and saw Darian coming in. They immediately clung to the sleeping Cecily, afraid Darian would take them away.

Seeing their wary eyes, Darian had no intention of taking them. Looking at the peacefully sleeping Cecily, he sighed in relief and said to Rowan and Griffin, "You can sleep here with her tonight."

Rowan and Griffin's eyes lit up. It was rare for Darian to be so generous and not compete with them for mommy.

"Daddy, what's going on? Why are you being so nice all of a sudden?" they said.

Usually, Darian would take the opportunity to have some alone time with their mommy when they weren't around. This time, he brought them over and let them sleep with her. And Darian hadn't smiled much today.

Something was off.

"Daddy, did something happen?" they asked.

Rowan and Griffin were smart. They could sense any subtle changes in the adults' emotions.

Darian gently ruffled their little heads. "Don't overthink it."

"That means something did happen," Rowan calmly analyzed.

Griffin nodded in agreement. "Daddy, tell us what's going on. We can help you figure it out."

Darian looked at the sleeping Cecily, afraid to speak loudly and wake her. "If you keep asking, you'll wake your mommy."

Rowan and Griffin glanced at Cecily and then closed their mouths, lying back down beside her. "Then tell us tomorrow. Honesty is the best policy."

Darian looked at his two detective-like sons and smiled helplessly. "Go to sleep."

He leaned down and kissed Cecily's forehead. Looking at her, his eyes were filled with complexity and guilt.

The reason he brought Rowan and Griffin over was to have them keep Cecily company. With them around, Cecily would be distracted and not focus entirely on finding Vivienne.

He rubbed his temples. If Cecily asked a few more times, he might not be able to resist telling her everything.

The next morning.

When Cecily woke up, Rowan and Griffin were already awake. They had dressed themselves and were lying beside her, their big eyes watching her.

Griffin spoke up, "Mommy, you're awake."

Seeing her two sons first thing in the morning, Cecily felt great. "Yes, where's your daddy?"

"We don't know. He got up really early. He was already up when we woke up," he replied.

Just as Griffin finished speaking, Darian walked in from outside.
