Chapter 206 Sudden Attack, Darian Fought to Protect Cecily

"What do you want to say? An apology? I'm not interested," Cecily said, shaking off Darian's hand.

"Just a few minutes," Darian insisted, forcefully pulling Cecily into the car.

Larkin, who was driving, quickly started the car.

The guards from the Fitzgerald Family stepped back, and Cassian, seeing Cecily being taken away, immediately got into the car. "Follow them."

It was late autumn, and the wind tonight seemed particularly cold.

Cecily sat in the car, her eyes as cold as frost.

A partition slowly rose between the front and back seats.

"Must you leave?" a deep voice slowly sounded in the quiet car.

Cecily didn't look at him, her voice icy. "You promised to let me and the children go, never to disturb us again."

Darian tightened his grip.

He forced a smile.

He had hurt her so deeply.

It was right for her to leave him.

It was right for her to take the children away.

But he didn't want this woman to leave him.

"What if I regret it?"

Cecily's brows furrowed. "Are you going to stop me?"

He wanted to say, "Don't go. Stay," but those words choked him to the point where he found them absurd, so absurd that he couldn't speak.

What right did he have to ask her to stay?

"I just want a peaceful life. I just want my two children to grow up in peace," she said slowly in the silence, her voice cold with a hint of bitterness.

"Darian, you have no right to stop me."

No, he had no right.

Pain and regret filled Darian's eyes.

'I'm sorry if I had discovered all this earlier if I had believed you earlier...'

'Perhaps it wouldn't have brought them so much pain.'

'I was not a responsible husband nor a responsible father.'

'I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I knew I had no right to stop you, but I didn't want to let go!'

Darian grabbed Cecily's wrist, pulled her into his arms, and held her tightly. "Give me another chance, please? Give me a chance to make it up to you and the children."

Cecily lowered her eyes deeply.

"Darian, it's too late."

"I told you, I don't want you anymore."

"After your repeated lack of trust, I won't... um..."

The man forced her chin up before she could finish her words and a warm touch pressed against her lips.

Cecily's heart trembled, and after her futile struggles, she opened her mouth and bit down hard, making him taste the piercing pain.

But Darian seemed not to feel the pain.

His tightly closed eyes, his furrowed brows—he kissed her with such concentration as if he were eager to make up for something.

Cecily opened her eyes wide and looked at the man in front of her, who was kissing her with such concentration, and a layer of glistening tears slowly filled her eyes.

'What else does this man want; why he just can't let her go?'

Just as Darian was passionately kissing Cecily, he suddenly noticed something, opened his eyes, his gaze chilled, and forcefully pressed Cecily down.

Cecily was completely caught off guard and was pressed onto his lap by Darian.

She was about to get up.

Suddenly, there was a "bang" in her ear.

It was followed by the sound of shattering glass.

The shattered pieces of glass from the car window flew in.

Darian bent over to protect her, and Cecily, startled, looked up and saw several men in black inside the car that was right next to theirs, pointing guns at her.

"Bang, bang, bang." There were several gunshots, and even though Cecily quickly calmed down, she was still greatly startled by the situation.

"Larkin." Darian held Cecily and shouted at Larkin in front.

"Yes, Mr. Fitzgerald." Larkin immediately accelerated the car, and the partition came down.

"Mr. Fitzgerald, we're surrounded."

Darian's gaze turned cold as he noticed the four cars surrounding them.

He muttered a curse under his breath.

It was clearly aimed at Cecily.

Damn it.

Darian immediately reached for his phone to call the security team.

In the car behind, Cassian also sensed the danger and quickly instructed his men through the Bluetooth earpiece. Soon, their car moved forward, swiftly blocking the path of the approaching vehicles.

At the same time, Cassian contacted Blaise for assistance.

Suddenly, Larkin saw a car beside them swerve recklessly, heading straight for them. The whole incident lasted only a few seconds.

Larkin's pupils dilated, and he shouted, "Mr. Fitzgerald, Miss Cecily, hold on!"

A loud bang echoed, causing a tremor, and Cecily's head spun, feeling dizzy.

The impact caused their car to veer sharply to the side.

Fortunately, they were securely fastened by their seat belts, but Cecily still leaned forward.

Darian, who was on the phone, quickly pulled her back, holding her protectively in his arms.

After the call, Darian anxiously asked, "Are you okay?"

Cecily regained her composure and looked at Darian, shaking her head, "I'm fine."

With another car approaching, Larkin had no choice but to steer the car toward an open area.

He accelerated, trying to shake off their pursuers.

However, the black car behind them continued to chase, and suddenly, a gunshot rang out. Larkin's arm was hit, causing him to groan in pain, almost losing his grip on the steering wheel.
Darian quickly took over, stabilizing the wheel, and observed the situation. "Get out of the car," he said.

"Mr. Fitzgerald?"

"Hurry."

"Yes."

Larkin slowed down, found the right moment, and jumped out of the car, rolling on the ground.

The car that was chasing them also slowed down, realizing that the person who fell was not their target.

They did not attack and continued to pursue the car.

Darian quickly took the driver's seat, and the car sped off like an arrow.

These people were obviously well-prepared, with a large number of them launching a fast and fierce attack, but they dared not touch Darian. It was clear that their intention was to kill Cecily.

"Come to the front," Darian quickly instructed.

Cecily wasted no time and immediately moved from the back to the front passenger seat, fastening her seatbelt.

Darian accelerated again, and when he saw a car closely following them, he didn't hesitate to turn the steering wheel, crashing into it.

The car's front was knocked off, and it veered out of control in another direction.

"Hold on," Darian said.

Darian kept a close eye on Cecily, who gripped the seatbelt tightly and nodded, "Don't worry about me."

Suddenly, two gunshots rang out.

Cecily quickly ducked her head, and the bullets hit the seat. If Cecily had reacted a second later, it would have been disastrous.

Darian's eyes darkened, and he muttered under his breath, quickly turning the steering wheel to crash into the car in front.

The car seemed to be caught off guard, and it crashed into a tree, immediately coming to a stop.

Darian continued driving forward into the pitch-black darkness. They had long since deviated from the road, heading toward a remote location with no other vehicles around.
The only sounds were the collisions of their cars and the gunshots.

Cecily's face was pale, her heart pounding when suddenly her phone rang.

It was Blaise calling.

Without hesitation, Cecily answered, "Hello."

"Send me your location," Blaise said.
