Chapter 217 Cecily, You're Not Dead?

A week had passed.

In the study, a man exuded a cold aura.

There was no sign of Cecily on Blaise's side, and she had not appeared by his side.

She remained elusive.

No matter how the thugs were interrogated, they insisted that they had been instructed by Cecily. Even when Darian threatened them with their families, they remained steadfast in their claims. They had no reason to protect someone else at the cost of their own family's lives.

Darian checked if anyone had leverage over them, but there was none. They spoke the truth; there was nothing more to be extracted from them.

This reminded Darian of the video Ophelia had mentioned. "Larkin, bring Ophelia here."

"Understood."

In less than ten minutes, Ophelia, almost entirely bandaged, was carried in on a stretcher by two people.

She had heard that Darian wanted to see her, and her eyes flickered with fear. Seeing Darian now, she couldn't help but shrink back.

Darian sat on the sofa, his dark gaze fixed on Ophelia, who lay on the stretcher, without saying a word.

Yet, Ophelia inexplicably felt a calm before the storm. She was too frightened to lift her head.

"Give me the video," Darian finally spoke.

"The video?" Ophelia's voice was hoarse as she looked up at Darian in a panic. "Which video are you talking about?"

"The one on your phone."

Upon hearing this, Ophelia's eyes lit up, and she leaned forward a bit. "Darian, do you believe me now? Okay, the video, the video... my phone..."

Ophelia was eager to show Darian the video.

Larkin handed her phone to her and asked her to unlock it.

Ophelia's fingers trembled, unsure if it was from excessive excitement. She entered the password incorrectly several times before finally opening the video call. Fearful that Darian might not hear clearly, Ophelia intentionally turned the volume on her phone to the maximum and quickly handed it over. "Here."

Darian took the phone, and his expression became more serious as he looked at the screen.

As he watched the footage, Darian frowned.

The person in the video was indeed Cecily, or rather, someone who looked exactly like Cecily. Even the pregnant belly and the indistinct voice were identical to Cecily's.

Larkin, standing beside him, also looked on in disbelief.

The person in the video was indeed Cecily! And the man she was talking to was the same person who had been captured and interrogated by them.

How could this be?

Could it be that Cecily was really behind this?

Ophelia blinked, her eyes fixed on Darian's face, afraid of missing any change in his expression. She was eager to see anger on his face.

But there was none.

Darian silently stared at the video, watching it over and over again, as if he was eager to find evidence in the video to prove that the woman in it was not Cecily.

Suddenly, Ophelia laughed, "Darian, can't believe it, right? You don't have to watch it. No matter how many times you watch it, the person in the video is undoubtedly Cecily."

Darian sent the video to his own phone and said, "Take her away."

Ophelia couldn't help but shout in excitement, "Darian, don't you believe it? It was all Cecily's doing, all of it..."

As her voice faded, Darian furrowed his brows.

"Mr. Fitzgerald?"

"Check if Cecily has a twin," Darian instructed.

Larkin stepped forward and replied, "Mr. Fitzgerald, Miss Cecily doesn't have a twin."

Larkin had already thoroughly investigated Cecily and could confirm that she didn't have a twin.

But even if she did.

What reason would her twin have to impersonate Cecily, harm Ophelia's child, and then frame her?

"However, Miss Cecily has a half-sister, Elysia, but they don't look alike."

So, the person in the video couldn't be Elysia.

Darian stood up, walked to the French window, and looked outside; his brows furrowed.

He told himself that there must be some loophole that hadn't been discovered yet. There must be.

He picked up his phone and walked out.

Sandra happened to be passing by Darian's study and called out to him, "Darian, it's late. Where are you going?"

"I have something to do."

Sandra looked at Darian with concern. According to Larkin, Darian had been the same as before, not leaving himself any time to rest.

He either went to the company or endlessly searched for Cecily.

Everyone believed that Cecily was dead, but he just refused to believe it.

Sandra understood her son. If he didn't find Cecily, he would never give up.

But what if Cecily was really dead?

What would Darian do then?

She was really worried that something would happen to Darian if he continued like this.

Darian drove out and went directly to find professionals to do a technical appraisal. The result of the appraisal was that the video was real, and there was no evidence of any tampering.
Darian had a headache.

He didn't believe Cecily before because he didn't understand some things, but now he did. Cecily had no reason to do that at the time.
But how to explain the video?

Darian drove at a moderate speed on the road, and suddenly, he saw a slender figure on the side of the road, his eyes trembling.

A woman in a khaki trench coat, her long black hair naturally falling on her shoulders, her back, including her walking posture, was exactly like Cecily.

Cecily!

Darian didn't hesitate to step on the brake, immediately got out of the car and walked quickly toward the woman.

There were quite a few people on the road at the moment. Darian passed through the crowd, and the figure disappeared in an instant.

Darian's pace became more urgent, and his dark eyes kept searching for the woman's figure in the crowd.

"Cecily!"

He strode forward and grabbed a girl's arm.

The girl turned around, looking at him in surprise, "Mister? Who are you looking for?"

Darian's eyes flickered slightly, and when he saw that it wasn't Cecily, it was like a bucket of cold water that cooled him down.

He felt like he was going crazy.

'Cecily, when will you come back?'

...

Fitzgerald Family.

In Owen's study, a woman wearing a duckbill cap walked in.

The door suddenly opened, and Owen, who was holding a pen to write, paused and said, "Sawyer, didn't I tell you not to disturb me?"

There was no response, but Owen looked up and saw a woman standing in front of him in black, and his gaze moved to her face.

Owen's unbelieving pupils trembled, "Cecily, you're not dead?"
