Chapter 280 Poisoning
At dinner time, the butler politely called them downstairs for the meal. As Cecily reached the staircase, she encountered the Watson family, a family of four. Due to Eliza's influence, the Watson family had been left at the Bennett family by her. With no shortage of food at the Bennett family and Eliza assuming the role of the heiress, keeping a few more guests around wasn't an issue.
The four's gaze fell upon Cecily. Due to her connection with Darian, they recognized her at a glance. Cecily met Matilda's eyes directly. She greeted her politely, which caught Matilda off guard and left her unsure how to respond.
Matilda's eyes flickered, and she lowered them, perhaps feeling a slight twinge of guilt for her past actions. Before Matilda could say anything, Elysia, who had been living a life of luxury at the Bennett family for the past two days, arrogantly looked down upon Cecily.
Elysia was well aware of Cecily's current situation, as she had heard about it from Raphael and Matilda themselves. In reality, Cecily was the true heiress of the Bennett family, and the other one was nothing but an imposter.
However, that imposter had brought their family endless wealth and allowed Elysia to enjoy a life of privilege. Cecily's presence had the potential to expose the imposter and drive their family out of the Bennett family, something Elysia was not willing to accept, as she cherished everything about the Bennett family.
Therefore, Elysia's hostility towards Cecily grew even stronger at this moment. Cecily didn't miss the disdain in Elysia's eyes. She raised an eyebrow, realizing that there was another person who was up to something.
Elysia would not stay quiet. Cecily smiled helplessly. Sometimes people had a gambler's mentality, always believing they could win before they even made a move.
In this household, almost everyone was eyeing that wealth, wanting a piece of the pie, wanting to be the ultimate winner. As for who the ultimate winner would be, it remained to be seen.
Cecily had no intention of getting entangled with their family. With Darian by her side, they wouldn't dare to do anything. "Let's go," Cecily said to Darian, and they walked downstairs.
Darian walked beside Cecily and asked, "How do you feel?" Cecily raised an eyebrow. "There are too many outsiders at the Bennett family. It needs to be cleaned up."
Darian smirked. "It should be cleaned up." After dinner, Caleb mentioned that the backyard garden had a pleasant view and suggested that Cecily take a walk.
Cecily didn't refuse, and Darian had something to attend to, so he didn't join her. The garden was illuminated by landscape lights, making it as bright as day.
Eliza stood by the floor-to-ceiling window upstairs, her gaze fixed on the figure below. She spoke coldly, "Go ahead."
A servant holding a tray nodded silently and walked out. Soon, Cecily found a wicker chair to rest on. A servant brought her a cup of coffee and placed it on the small table beside her. "Miss Cecily, here is your coffee dessert."
Cecily lowered her eyes and glanced at the exquisite coffee dessert on the table, nodding gently. "Thank you." The servant picked up the teapot and poured the coffee into a cup in front of Cecily. "Please enjoy."
Having done this, the servant did not leave immediately but stepped aside. Cecily didn't pay much attention to it and didn't touch the cup of coffee. The aroma of coffee beans filled the air, creating a comfortable atmosphere. Cecily closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
At that moment, a sharp voice broke the silence. "Miss Impostor, you sure know how to enjoy." Cecily instantly recognized the voice.
Who else but Elysia, that foolish woman. Elysia was dressed in high-end seasonal fashion, wearing a valuable necklace around her neck, looking more luxurious here than she did at the Watson family.
She naturally wanted to continue living this extravagant and happy life, and how could she allow anyone to ruin it? Cecily's appearance not only had the potential to expose the impostor but also brought a sense of crisis to Elysia.
"Elysia, long time no see. Are you asking for trouble again?" Cecily looked calmly at Elysia. Elysia gritted her teeth. "Cecily, how dare you claim to be the heiress of the Bennett family? Get out of here."
Cecily raised an eyebrow, her fingers lightly gripping the exquisite coffee cup, playing with it in her hand with ease.
