Chapter 694 Design
Giselle was so embarrassed just now that she was furious with herself and had no mood to care about others. "Don't pull me!"
Imogen, however, didn't let go, tears streaming down her face. "Giselle, you have to save me. I don't want to be ruined. Can you help me explain to Ms. Bennett that I didn't mean it? I really didn't know she was Ms. Bennett when I said those things. What should I do?"
Giselle irritably shook off her hand. "What are you afraid of? She won't do anything to you."
"But her status is not something I can afford to offend."
Giselle sneered. "Do you really think she has any real power in the Bennett family?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean she has no real power in the Bennett family. She can't do anything to you just because she's the eldest daughter. Got it? Besides, your Fairfax family isn't bad either. What are you afraid of?" Giselle's expression was cold.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
Hearing Giselle say this, Imogen finally felt relieved. "That's good."
Cecilia chuckled lightly. "You're really timid. Giselle is still standing here. What are you afraid of? And look at her outfit compared to Giselle's. It's clear who has the higher status in the Bennett family."
Cecilia's words were very much to Giselle's liking.
Cecily was nothing. Calling her cousin was just out of respect for Vivienne, who was still the head of the family.
Hearing Cecilia say this, the previously terrified Imogen immediately regained her arrogant attitude, flattering Giselle. "That's right. Giselle's status in the Bennett family is definitely not something someone like her can compare to. Her outfit is nothing compared to yours, Giselle. It's like a swan and an ugly duckling."
Listening to these words, Giselle's mood improved a bit, and she finally showed a comfortable smile. "Let's go inside."
Inside, ever since people found out that Cecily was the eldest daughter of the Bennett family, she had been surrounded by people.
Aurelie had taken Rowan and Griffin to get some food. Cecily didn't want to offend anyone, so she stood there chatting with them, occasionally responding.
Among them, Cecily noticed that the most frequently mentioned topic was her dress. They praised her dress, but Cecily could see a hint of mockery in their eyes.
Cecily found it amusing.
She was pregnant, so when choosing a dress, comfort was her priority, not style. It indeed looked less glamorous compared to Giselle's diamond and pearl-studded dress.
But Cecily was sure her dress was appropriate. She didn't expect it to attract so much attention and be repeatedly compared.
Giselle and her two companions stood behind, coldly staring at Cecily. Cecilia and Imogen noticed the discord between Giselle and Cecily, so they desperately belittled Cecily in front of Giselle, elevating Giselle and making Cecily seem worthless.
"Giselle, look at her. She looks so improper. She can't compare to you at all," Imogen said.
"Can someone like her compare to Giselle? She doesn't even have the qualifications."
The two of them kept flattering Giselle, making her very happy.
Giselle took a sip of her red wine, her eyes darkening. Seeing the red wine reminded her of the night she was humiliated by Cecily.
She had sworn in her heart that she would make Cecily pay.
So she wouldn't miss any opportunity to take revenge on Cecily.
Her gaze fell on Rowan and Griffin, who were being taken aside by Aurelie to eat. Giselle smirked. "She's out of line, so wouldn't it make sense if her kids acted out too?"
Cecilia didn't quite understand Giselle's meaning. "Giselle, what do you want to do?"
Giselle leaned in and whispered something in Cecilia and Imogen's ears. They hesitated. "Giselle, isn't this a bit too much?"
"What's wrong with it?"
The two didn't move. They had been belittling Cecily in front of Giselle to make her happy, but now, knowing Cecily's identity, they didn't dare to provoke her.
Seeing their reluctance, Giselle spoke softly. "Cecilia, I remember your family has been negotiating a deal with the Bennett Group for a long time. Tell your father I'll have my father look into it."
Cecilia's eyes lit up instantly. "Really?"
"It's just a word. Imogen, the necklace you wanted at the auction last month, I bought it. Come to my house later to get it."
"Really, Giselle?" Imogen looked at Giselle excitedly.
Giselle lifted her chin, her gaze falling on Cecily. The two immediately knew what to do.
Giselle certainly wouldn't give these things to them for free.
Imogen gritted her teeth and said, "Giselle, leave it to us. They made you unhappy tonight, we'll punish them for you."
"Go ahead." Giselle elegantly sat down on a nearby chair.
She had seen that Cecily had bodyguards protecting her, so she couldn't make any big moves, but she could still try some small tricks.
Imogen and Cecilia walked up to Rowan and Griffin, smiling warmly. Imogen crouched down and looked at Rowan and Griffin. "Hello, guys."
Rowan and Griffin glanced at them and recognized them as the bad people who had been acting crazy earlier, part of Giselle's group.
Aurelie frowned and pulled Rowan and Griffin close. "What do you want?"
Cecilia quickly explained, "Don't be nervous. We're here to apologize. We're sorry for the misunderstanding earlier."
"Yes, please don't take what I said to heart. We apologize," Imogen echoed.
Griffin smiled kindly. "It's okay. We never argue with crazy people."
Cecilia and Imogen fell silent.
"Let's go find Mommy," Rowan suggested.
These two didn't look like good people at all. Apologizing? They didn't seem sincere at all. Who knew what they were up to? They didn't want to talk to them.
"Yes, let's go." Aurelie took Rowan and Griffin's hands and was about to find Cecily.
Cecilia gave Imogen a look. Imogen picked up a glass of red wine and walked forward. "Don't go yet. You..." Before she finished speaking, Imogen fell, and the red wine in the glass accidentally spilled on Rowan's clothes.
"Imogen, what's wrong with you?" Cecilia pretended to be anxious and quickly crouched down to wipe Rowan's clothes with a tissue.
Imogen quickly stood up and apologized. "Sorry, I didn't mean it. I was wearing high heels and twisted my ankle."
Hearing the commotion, the bodyguard immediately came over. "Are you okay?"
Rowan shook his head. Imogen was still apologizing, looking full of remorse.
Rowan's little face tightened. "Is your bad idea just to spill red wine on us?"
