Chapter 297 Revenge
Everyone quieted down and looked at Desmond.
Without hesitation, Desmond began, "Thank you all for attending the banquet today. Unfortunately, we've had a bit of an unexpected episode, which has caused some amusement, no doubt. This gathering was intended to celebrate the Bennett family's heiress, but as you can see, circumstances have changed. I regret to announce the cancellation of the banquet. We apologize for any inconvenience caused, and we hope for your understanding."
"Mr.Bradshaw!" Eliza's face quickly turned cold. "What do you mean?"
Was he not going to announce her identity anymore?
Desmond's eyes deepened. "I'm sorry, Miss. We have some doubts about your identity now. We need to investigate further before we can make any public announcements."
"You believe her? She's just an impostor."
"We will make our own judgment."
Eliza's face turned extremely gloomy. She stared at Desmond for a long time and sneered, "So you believe the words of this impostor. I have suffered so much today. If you won't help me, then so be it. But to have an outsider come and deny my identity, I wonder how my mother would feel if she were still here."
"If the head of the family were still here and saw how malicious her daughter was, she would be very disappointed," Desmond said with great disappointment.
In that moment just now, he clearly saw that she intentionally leaned towards the tower of wine glasses, maliciously causing trouble.
He found it hard to imagine that such a cunning, sinister, and malicious person could be the daughter of their family head.
Eliza's heart trembled. She looked at Cecily and asked Desmond with a cold smile, "Am I malicious? What about her? She schemed against me first. This dress was clearly meant for me. Why should she wear it? Is she the only one allowed to scheme against me while I can't fight back?"
She spoke with righteousness, seemingly forgetting that everything originally belonged to Cecily and that she had taken it all.
Desmond was exhausted by all these matters. He waved his hand and said, "Let's not talk about this anymore. As for your identities, we will investigate further."
There were reporters present tonight, and Desmond was afraid that the events of tonight would spread online. He had to deal with it first, so he left.
Cecily no longer paid attention to Eliza's hostile gaze and looked at Darian beside her.
Darian's injuries from the previous confrontation with Owen hadn't fully healed, and now the tower of wine glasses fell on him. Cecily was worried about Darian.
At this moment, Darian had already taken off his coat, leaving only a thin shirt.
Cecily wanted to see if Darian was injured. She held his hand and said, "Let's go."
"Where to?"
"To see if you're hurt."
Seeing Cecily's concern, Darian felt happy. He felt that it was worth it, even if he were to be hit a hundred times.
After Darian had someone take Sandra back to the hotel, he obediently let Cecily lead him away.
Eliza's hostile gaze continued to follow them.
Everything was ruined.
It was all destroyed.
Today was supposed to be her most anticipated moment, but they had turned her into the most miserable one.
They said she was Eliza and helped Cecily, and they didn't know how Phoenix really died
Well, since Darian and the others knew her identity, she didn't need to pretend in front of them anymore.
She wanted to see if Darian and Cecily could still be so loving once she told them that Vivienne was the one who caused Phoenix's death. She wanted to see if Sandra would regret her actions tonight.
Eliza, filled with anger, lifted her dress and walked out quickly.
Meanwhile, Ophelia was in a state of shock the whole time. She only understood one thing: Cecily was the true heiress of the Bennett family.
'How could she be worthy? How could this despicable person be worthy? She deserved to die! Why hasn't she died yet? Why does she always have such good luck, having two children, gaining Darian's love, and now about to become the Bennett family's heiress? Why does she get all the good things?' she shouted inwardly.
"Ophelia, where are you going?"
Tabitha tried to stop Ophelia's outburst, but she was pushed away.
Ophelia didn't say a word, her eyes filled with jealousy and resentment as she followed.
The guests were gradually leaving, and Eliza couldn't see Darian and Cecily anymore.
But she was not willing to give up.
If they made her suffer like this today, they shouldn't expect to have an easy time either.
She wanted Darian to know about his father's death immediately. She wanted him to regret it, to feel disgust and disdain towards Cecily.
Eliza searched around for Darian and Cecily. When she saw the guards at the door, she immediately walked over and asked, "Have you seen Darian and Cecily?"
"They just went towards the parking lot."
"Got it." Anger clouded Eliza's mind, and she headed straight for the parking lot.
Ophelia saw Eliza's face in the crowd. She clenched her fists and, without a word, followed her, jealousy and resentment filling her eyes. She had somehow found a fruit knife and held it tightly as she hurried after Eliza.
Eliza searched for Darian and Cecily's car in the parking lot. Seeing no one around her, Ophelia tightened her grip on the fruit knife and rushed forward, shouting, "Cecily, you wretched woman! Go to hell!"
She swung the knife with force, the blade cutting through the air.
"Ah!"
Eliza, completely focused on finding Darian and Cecily, didn't notice the person following her.
She felt a sudden, unexpected pain on her back as her skin was cut.
