Chapter 293 What a Nerve!

The laughter at the scene continued. Eliza's frown relaxed as she listened to the words.

"Miss Impostor, I have no objection to you attending the banquet, but wearing a fake at the Bennett family's event really lowers the standard. I find it repulsive, so please take off that fake attire."

Cecily smiled faintly. "Take it off here?"

"Yes, right here. If you dare to disgust me by wearing a fake, you will face the consequences. If you don't take it off, I will have someone do it for you."

"Miss, this is too much." Desmond was the first to disagree.

Forcing someone to undress at a banquet was really too much. It was not at all befitting of a young lady of her stature.

"What's the big deal, Mr.Bradshaw? She started it by choosing that dress to provoke me. I'm just giving her a little lesson." Eliza raised an eyebrow, her smile sweet, but her words affected her overall demeanor.

She was malicious enough to force a woman to undress in front of everyone. How could she live after that? Eliza was trying to crush her completely.

She looked at Cecily with a smug expression on her face.

'Let's see what you can do,' she thought.

Despite knowing the malice behind Eliza's actions, no one spoke up to stop her.

After all, it had nothing to do with them, so they turned a blind eye, and most of them were even somewhat excited about the scene.

"This is too much!" Hudson couldn't bear it and was about to rush forward, but Austin held him back.

Hudson frowned. "Why are you stopping me? Can't you see that Cecily is being humiliated?"

Austin smiled. "Cecily is not a fool. How could she possibly wear a fake dress to the banquet? Just wait. She will definitely fight back. I'm just wondering where Darian went. Shouldn't he have come with Cecily?"

Austin felt strange and glanced at the door, raising an eyebrow. "Let's go outside and take a look."

Hudson nodded, and they walked outside.

Eliza crossed her arms and looked at Cecily with a sneer. "Miss Impostor, please take off your fake attire immediately, or you won't leave here today."

Cecily looked at her and smiled. "So, you mean whoever is wearing the fake attire should take it off, right?"

Eliza smiled. "Of course, the one wearing the fake attire should take it off."

"Alright." Cecily nodded. "Then what are you waiting for? Take it off."

"I take it off?" Eliza found it incredibly amusing. "Are you saying that I'm the one wearing the fake attire?"

Cecily nodded. "That's what I mean."

Eliza chuckled. "This dress was personally tailored by Master Brady. Are you joking when you say mine is fake?"

Laughter came from the guests. "I think this impostor has gone mad. She actually said that the Bennett family's heiress is wearing a fake while wearing one herself."

"Yeah, she's making me laugh. I have no idea where she gets the confidence to say such things."

Mockery filled the air, but Cecily remained composed, her face free of anger.

Eliza's smile became even more triumphant. "Miss Impostor, are you going to take it off or not? If you don't, I'll have someone do it for you. Security, strip her of that dress. I won't let such a thing lower the standard of my banquet."

Several security guards immediately surrounded Cecily.

"How dare you!"

Amidst the commotion, a cold and firm voice suddenly rang out.

In an instant, everyone turned to look at the person who had just entered.

A man in a sharp black suit, exuding an air of nobility, caused a collective gasp as he appeared at the doorway.

"Isn't that Darian?"

"Yes, it's Darian. I can't believe he's also attending the banquet. What a lucky day to see Darian. This banquet was truly worth it."

"Wow, Darian is so handsome. Who was he talking to just now?"

"Oh my, didn't you all notice? Cecily, isn't she Darian's ex-wife?"

"That reminds me. Didn't Darian himself come to Cecily's birthday banquet to support her? So among the two, who is the real Cecily?"

"Isn't it obvious? The Bennett family's heiress must be the real Cecily, and Darian must be here to support her. That impostor is in for it."

The excitement among the guests grew as they eagerly anticipated the unfolding drama.

"Wait, look at who's following Darian."

"That seems to be Brady! The one who created the gown."

"Darian has brought Master Brady here. He will surely distinguish the real from the fake at a glance. The one in the counterfeit is about to be in big trouble."

Everyone waited to see Cecily's reaction.

But Cecily stood there calmly, watching as Darian walked towards her, a faint smile on her exquisite face.

"Where's Owen?" she asked.

Darian took her slightly cold hand, and a hint of a smile appeared on his handsome face. "Hudson and Austin are keeping him busy."

At that moment, outside,Owen watched angrily as Hudson and Austin, one on each side, held onto his arms. He roared, "Both of you, let go of me!"

Austin held onto Owen's left arm tightly. "Owen, you must be tired. Why don't you take a rest? Let them deal with their own affairs."

Hudson held onto Owen's right arm. "Exactly. Let us accompany you for a couple of drinks. Let's go."

Without a second thought, they lifted Owen's arms onto their shoulders and picked him up.

Owen kicked his feet in mid-air, his face turning red with irritation. "Hudson, Austin, put me down. Do you hear me?"

The two acted as if they were selectively deaf, merrily carrying Owen away.

Cecily couldn't help but chuckle softly as Darian described the scene outside. "Only those two could pull off something like this."

"Yes." Darian smiled and reached out to fix a loose strand of Cecily's hair. He lowered his voice and said, "I've already sent someone to investigate Eliza's recent activities in Stellaris Bay. If everything goes smoothly, we should receive some news tonight."

Cecily nodded slightly, her lips forming a small smile. "Good."

Unaware of the truth, the guests watched as Darian walked up to Cecily, and they exchanged puzzled looks.

"Did Darian mistake someone? The one with the tied-up hair is the impostor, while the one with her hair down is the Bennett family's heiress. He must have mistaken her."

"Darian, you've got the wrong person. The one beside you is the impostor. The real Cecily is the one in front," someone reminded Darian.

Darian's expression turned cold. "Am I now unable to recognize my own wife?"
