Chapter 478 Leave Everything to Us
"What are we waiting for? Cecily killed Dad and forced him to sign the share transfer. We need to void that agreement now."
Josep was fuming, ready to grab those shares back immediately.
"Josep, calm down. We don't have any proof."
"So, what do I do now? Cecily and Darian have most of the shares. What’s my move?"
Sawyer shook his head. "The shares are still under Owen's name. Cecily can't touch them. I've told you what I know. The next step is up to you."
Sawyer turned to leave but paused. "By the way, what's Darian's situation?"
Josep sneered, "He’s lost his memory and doesn’t recognize Cecily. Do you buy that?"
"Did you get Eliza to drug him?"
Josep didn’t answer, which was as good as a yes.
Sawyer smirked. "Owen drugged him last time with the same result. Why don't you believe it?"
Back in his room, Sawyer grabbed his phone.
Percy answered quickly.
"Mr. Lockwood, Owen transferred thirty percent of Fitzgerald Group's shares to Cecily."
"Are you sure? Why would Owen give her so many shares?"
Sawyer nodded. "Positive. Cecily was his only visitor recently. She and Owen talked for a long time. Now the share transfer agreement is missing; it must be with Cecily. But Owen didn’t expect Josep to kill him, so the process wasn’t completed. The agreement was signed but not transferred, and there were no witnesses. Josep will likely invalidate it, making it part of Owen's estate."
Percy paused. "Then you need to help Cecily."
"Help her get the shares? Why?" Sawyer was confused.
"What's the Fitzgerald family’s situation now?"
"Owen's dead, Darian has amnesia and is in the hospital, and Josep says he doesn’t remember Cecily."
Percy chuckled. "Those two are star-crossed lovers. We need to help Cecily get the shares because I plan to have Evander marry her. Then everything she owns will belong to the Lockwood family."
"But didn’t you say you wanted to help Josep before?"
"Josep has ambition but no skill. If he gets Fitzgerald Group, it’ll fall apart, which is what I want. The Fitzgerald family has been on top in Silver Frost Capital for too long. It's time for a change."
Sawyer quickly caught on to Percy's plan.
What a scheme.
Landon married Ophelia to get the Flores family's support.
Now Evander would marry Cecily to get the Bennett family's support.
The Bennett family was well-known, and the Flores family was powerful too.
If these three families united against a Fitzgerald family led by Josep, the Fitzgeralds would be finished.
"But Cecily still loves Darian. How will you get her to marry someone else?"
"Make her hate Darian. One way or another, Cecily will belong to the Lockwood family. Sawyer, if you work hard for us, you’ll be rewarded."
Sawyer replied quickly, "You don’t need to say that. When my wife was seriously ill, you got her the treatment she needed. I owe you."
Percy chuckled. "Looks like I haven't misjudged you. Keep me posted on any Fitzgerald family news. I've transferred some money to your account. Don't say you don't need it; you deserve it."
Sawyer quickly thanked him.
As soon as Cecily left the hospital, she got a call from two Fitzgerald Group directors, Paul and Kevin.
After confirming their identities, Cecily headed straight to the restaurant where they had made a reservation.
"Paul, Kevin."
Wearing a simple yet elegant beige trench coat, Cecily walked briskly into the private room.
Paul and Kevin, both in their fifties or sixties, stood up as she entered. Paul gestured for her to sit. "Miss Watson, please have a seat."
They got straight to the point. "Miss Watson, can you show us the share transfer agreement?"
"Of course." Cecily handed over the agreement from her bag.
Paul and Kevin examined it closely, focusing on Owen's signature. Satisfied, they returned it to her.
Paul said, "The agreement looks fine. Miss Watson, keep it safe."
"Did Darian send you to see me?" Cecily asked, her eyes hopeful.
"No, we heard Mr. Fitzgerald is injured and has amnesia. Mr. Thompson is unsure about many things, so he asked us to see if there's a solution."
Cecily's face showed a hint of disappointment, but she quickly composed herself. Now wasn't the time to dwell on it.
Owen had entrusted her with these shares, and she had to protect them and ultimately hand them over to Darian. She couldn't let Josep take them.
Taking a deep breath, Cecily explained the current issues to Paul and Kevin.
They genuinely wanted to help and discussed the upcoming challenges with her.
They talked late into the night. Finally, Cecily stood up and said, "I'll be counting on you."
"Don't worry, Miss Watson. We'll do our best to help you, according to Owen's wishes."
"Thank you."
"We'll leave now. If there's a board meeting, just insist the shares were voluntarily given to you by Owen, and leave the rest to us."
Cecily nodded. "Okay."
When she left the restaurant, it was past eleven. She looked up at the dark sky, sighed, and noticed faint lightning in the distance, signaling heavy rain.
"Miss Watson, heading home?" The driver had the car ready.
Cecily hesitated. "Yes, let's go home."
After a forty-minute drive, it started raining heavily as they arrived.
The driver parked and was about to call out to Cecily when he noticed she had fallen asleep.
He hesitated and softly called, "Miss Watson."
Cecily didn't respond.
The driver was unsure what to do when someone tapped on the window.
He rolled it down to see Larkin with a black umbrella. "Please open the car door."
The driver recognized Larkin and opened the door. Darian bent down to get into the car. The driver wisely stayed silent.
Darian saw Cecily leaning against the back seat, her long hair spread out, her face peaceful in sleep.
