Chapter 484 Causing a Scene at the Funeral

Darian's hand clenched at his side when he saw Cecily looking so worn out. He didn't move, but he couldn't stop watching her.

'What's up with Cecily? Is she sick?' he wondered.

"Darian, let's go," Freya said, barely hiding her joy at Darian's indifference toward Cecily.

Cecily threw up for a while before she felt better.

After freshening up in front of the mirror, Cecily came out of the bathroom.

"Feeling any better?" Vivienne asked, concerned.

Cecily nodded. "Much better."

"Cecily? What's wrong?"

Cecily turned to see Karen, Evander's mom.

"I'm fine, Aunt Karen. I just ate something bad," Cecily said politely, not wanting anyone to know about her pregnancy yet.

Karen eyed her suspiciously. As a mom of two, she could tell Cecily didn't look like she had food poisoning; it seemed more like she was pregnant. Plus, it wasn't even mealtime.

If Cecily was pregnant and Percy was still trying to set her up with Evander, Karen would be even more upset.

"Need me to call a doctor?" Karen asked.

"No, thank you."

Karen didn't push it, she just showed some concern and left.

When she was back with Percy, he asked, "Why'd it take you so long?"

"I ran into Cecily in the bathroom. She wasn't feeling well, so I asked her a few questions."

Percy glanced at Evander. "Did you hear that? Cecily isn't feeling well, and you didn't think to check on her?"

Evander didn't move. He looked at Percy, sensing his scheming. "What are you trying to do? You wouldn't let me like her before, and now you're trying to set us up?"

"I..."

"Enough," Karen cut in. "Don't get any ideas. Cecily might be pregnant."

Percy frowned.

Evander didn't look surprised.

Karen looked at Evander. "You knew?"

Evander pressed his lips together. "Yes."

He had taken Cecily to the hospital when she fainted. He had to leave before she woke up but found out about her pregnancy that day.

Percy stayed silent, his face tense, his thoughts unclear.

They walked to Owen's portrait, bowed deeply, and then spoke to Josep and the others, who were wiping away tears.

Josep's family looked heartbroken, especially Aurelia, whose makeup was ruined from crying. Darian stood to the side, eyes downcast, lips tight, with an unreadable expression on his face.

Freya stood next to Darian, a spot Josep had arranged. When people asked, he'd introduce her as "Darian's fiancée."

Word spread quickly at the funeral that Darian was engaged to Freya.

Naturally, Cecily heard. As she approached Owen's portrait, Freya's eyes locked on her, full of a challenge only they understood.

Cecily ignored her. When she glanced at Darian, she noticed that his deep eyes were filled with concern.

The look was fleeting, and when Cecily looked again, it was gone.

Had she imagined it?

Freya got annoyed when she saw Cecily looking at Darian. Ignoring the crowd, she loudly said, "Miss Watson, why are you staring at my fiancé in front of everyone?"

Freya's voice had always been loud, and she raised it to embarrass Cecily, drawing attention from those around.

Freya walked towards Cecily arrogantly. "Miss Watson, what are you doing? You're staring at my fiancé inappropriately."

Darian's face darkened immediately.

Josep watched, raising his eyebrows slightly. He wouldn't stop this; he was happy to see it unfold. He suspected Darian's amnesia was fake but hadn't found any flaws.

Could Darian stay indifferent if his loved one was humiliated?

Josep was eager to see.

"Freya, don't go too far," Vivienne warned coldly.

"How am I going too far? Your daughter is staring at my fiancé. What's she thinking? Isn't that going too far?" Freya retorted loudly, full of confidence.

Freya's loud voice caused people to start whispering.

"What's going on?"

"Not sure, they just started arguing. Cecily looked at Darian a few times, and Freya got upset and is making a scene."

"But isn't Cecily Darian's ex-wife? It's normal for her to look at him. No need to make a fuss."

"He should leave his ex-wife in the past. Darian's fiancée is Freya now. It's normal for her to be upset."

Freya raised her chin arrogantly, not noticing the cold, harsh light in Darian's eyes.

Cecily's eyes reflected a faint smile. "What? What are you afraid of?"

Cecily's voice was calm and soft, which made Freya's voice seem even more jarring.

"What am I afraid of? I'm afraid you'll seduce my fiancé," Freya said, crossing her arms, looking like a shrew.

Those words were harsh.

Everyone looked at Cecily, expecting her to be embarrassed and angered.
