Chapter 625 Father's Heart is Really Too Biased

The room was jam-packed with all the shareholders present.

Stanley kicked back in his chair, grinning like he didn't have a care in the world. The secretary behind Terry strolled over to give him a nudge—it was go-time for the meeting.

Terry gave a nod.

Stanley's grin got even wider.

Terry got to his feet, "Alright folks, you all know why we're here. I'm not getting any younger, and running the company is getting tougher. My son Stanley's been killing it at the company for years, so today I'm making it official..."

Stanley stood up, still smiling, waiting for Terry to drop the big news, when suddenly a shareholder piped up, "Hold on a sec."

The guy who spoke was Howard Mitchell, a dude who usually only showed up for the big stuff and didn't mess with the day-to-day. Stanley didn't see that coming.

Stanley's eyes flashed cold for a second.

For someone to throw a wrench in the works now, they had to have some guts.

Stanley was itching to hear what Howard had to say.

"What's on your mind?" Stanley asked.

Terry's eyes narrowed a bit.

Howard looked straight at Terry, "Mr. Chairman, Stanley's got skills, no doubt, but if his character's shady, you might wanna rethink making him the successor. This is about the company's future."

Howard's words made Stanley's face darken. He let out a cold chuckle, "What do you mean by shady character? Enlighten me, so I can get it straight."

Stanley had always been slick, never leaving any dirt behind.

He figured even if he did something, no one could pin it on him.

Plus, he had no beef with Howard, so it seemed unlikely Howard would dig into his past and find anything.

So, Stanley calmly questioned him, not a hint of guilt on his face.

"Check this out." Howard slapped his phone on the table, showing the latest morning news.

Stanley's face tightened as he grabbed the phone.

In the next second, his expression went from cool to freaked out.

The other shareholders, following Howard's lead, pulled out their phones and checked the news.

Stanley scrolled through, his eyes getting darker with each line.

The news spilled that eleven years ago, he had framed Nathaniel and got him locked up. It was now out in the open that Nathaniel was set up by Stanley, and the person who died wasn't accidentally killed by Nathaniel. His death was actually manipulated by Stanley when he was in the hospital. Stanley had framed Nathaniel.

And that wasn't all—there was a ton of dirt on him.

The room buzzed with chatter.

If no one had brought it up, everyone might've forgotten, but now that it was out there, everyone remembered Nathaniel's imprisonment.

Back then, Terry had turned a blind eye to Nathaniel and didn't bother digging for the truth. Everyone knew something was off.

Nobody cared to investigate, and as Nathaniel got sent to the slammer, the whole thing just faded from memory.

But now, the truth was out there, plain as day.

"What's going on?" Terry asked, noticing the whispers and Stanley's grim look, feeling a bad vibe.

"Stanley, what's up?" he pressed, eyes locked on Stanley.

The secretary quickly pulled up the news and handed it to Terry. After reading it, Terry's face mirrored Stanley's.

His eyes narrowed at the end.

Stanley slammed the phone onto the table.

The loud thud made everyone look up from their phones.

"This is total BS!" He sat down, trying to keep his cool, "It's just someone stirring the pot. You guys are smart, you won't fall for this crap, would you?"

Stanley couldn't own up to what he did eleven years ago just because of some news article.

He scanned everyone's faces, finally locking eyes with Terry, "Dad, it's clear someone's trying to mess with us. After the meeting, I'll dig into this and find out who's behind it. Let's keep going."

"Mr. Kensington, there's evidence here," Howard said. "Back then, no one looked into it. Everyone knew it was a setup. Now it's out in the open with proof, you can't just brush it off. Your brother Nathaniel did ten years because of this."

Stanley stayed cool, "The evidence was solid back then. His manslaughter was a fact. Now, eleven years later, just as my dad's about to name me successor, this pops up. It's obvious someone's causing trouble."

"You're really gonna ignore the evidence, huh?"

"Enough," Terry cut in sharply, "Everyone, quiet down. This was settled back then. Nathaniel did his time and he's out now. Let it go."

Terry turned to his secretary, "Get that news taken down. It's all baseless."

It was clear Terry was shielding Stanley, and everyone saw it.

Seeing Terry's stance, Stanley finally relaxed.

But Nathaniel was dead. Who was stirring the pot?

Could it be Howard?

No way. They had no beef. Howard probably just spoke up after seeing the news.

So who was it?

Whoever it was, they better hope Stanley never found out, or they'd be in deep trouble.

"Let's get back to the meeting," Terry commanded, taking control, "I announce that Stanley will..."

Before he could finish, the conference room door suddenly swung open.

"Father, your favoritism is too much," a strong voice rang out.

Stanley's calm facade shattered as he whipped around.
