Chapter 66 You're Too Late, I Sank Her in the Sea

Larkin addressed Cecily as Mrs. Fitzgerald.

It was deliberate.

Blaise's gaze turned icy as he stared down the man before him, his voice colder still, "Get lost."

Unfazed, Larkin maintained his polite demeanour, "I need to take Mrs. Fitzgerald and Rowan back with me."

After a pause, he glanced at his watch, "You have two minutes. If Mrs. Fitzgerald and Rowan aren't willing to come back, we'll have to proceed by other means."

At his words, a strange smile flashed across Blaise's face as a chilling murderous intent radiated from him.

Cecily felt a gust of wind brush past her cheek...

Then, with a thunderous crash, the once upright Larkin didn't stand a chance against Blaise. In just one move, Blaise had him pinned to the ground, hand around his throat.

Blaise's fury seemed to amplify a hundredfold.

Larkin's bodyguards exchanged looks of disbelief. They hadn't even had the chance to draw their weapons when Blaise had already subdued Larkin. Now, with minimal effort, he could easily snap the man's neck.

Such a presence was terrifying to behold.

Both sides drew their guns, nerves stretched thin, creating a standoff that felt like it could erupt into chaos at any second.

Cecily was anxious. They couldn't continue like this. Once the deadline set by Darian arrived, his people would take action. If it came to that, injuries were inevitable.

She couldn't let innocent people get hurt because of her.

Cecily clenched her fists so tightly her knuckles turned white. She closed her eyes, conceding that she couldn't win against Darian.

Just then, her phone vibrated with an incoming call.

It was Aurelie. Sensing something amiss, Cecily immediately answered, and the sound of howling wind came from the other end, "Hello, Aurelie?"

"Let go of me... jerk, Cecily, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, he caught me, don't worry about me, don't come back, you get out of here... you get out of here..."

The voice on the other end of the phone was Aurelie's, screaming with all her might.

Cecily's face turned pale instantly.

"Aurelie?"

Cecily gripped her cell phone, her heart pounding violently, "Aurelie, where are you right now?"

There was no more sound from Aurelie. In her place was Darian's voice, dark and ominous, "She's in my hands. If you want her to live, come back. Cecily, you have half an hour. If I don't see you in half an hour, I'll drop her into the ocean for the fish."

Despite the distance of the phone call, Cecily could feel the murderous intent emanating from Darian.

"Cecily, don't worry about me, I don't believe this scum will really dare to drop me... Ah..."

A scream was cut short, followed by a splash.

The sound of something heavy falling into the water.

Cecily felt a lump in her throat, and she called out anxiously, "Aurelie? Aurelie?"

There was no response.

Darian's voice rose with pleasure, "Guess how many minutes she can sink in the ocean."

"I'm coming back, Darian, I'm coming back. Don't mess around. Pull her up, I'm on my way. Let her go," said Cecily, her voice raw with urgency.

Cecily knew what Darian was capable of. If Aurelie was in his hands, he could really kill her.

Cecily couldn't just abandon Aurelie.

"Fine, I'll wait for you."

Cecily hung up the phone with a click.

"Cecily, what's wrong?" Cassian looked at Cecily's anxious expression and asked.

"My friend's been taken by Darian. I have to go back." Cecily walked over to Blaise, who had Larkin pinned to the ground, "I'll go back with you guys. Blaise, let him go."

Blaise narrowed his eyes, his expression terrifying, "What are you doing?"

"My friend is in the hands of Darian. I can't simply ignore that."

"What does this have to do with you?" Blaise's eyes were incredibly stern, and in his view, Cecily was his top priority. Everyone else was irrelevant to him.

Now Cecily was about to sacrifice her own desires for the sake of someone else, and, naturally, he disagreed with that.

"I cannot just ignore her." Nor could he allow both parties to end up in a mutually destructive battle.

Blaise saw the determined look in her eyes, his expression freezing cold, then glanced at Larkin on the ground and stood up in anger.

Coughing violently, Larkin picked himself up off the ground and gestured politely to Cecily, "Mrs. Fitzgerald, Rowan needs to come back with us too."

As soon as he finished his sentence, Blaise snapped his fingers. The helicopter that had been ready took off immediately.

Larkin's eyes darkened and he took a couple of urgent steps forward.

Blaise, out of the corner of his eye, saw Larkin's discompose and smirked wickedly, "If you can, make the helicopter down."

Of course, making the helicopter down would mean the end for Rowan inside it.

Larkin obviously couldn't do that, so he could only watch helplessly as the helicopter slowly flew away.

He was just about to report to Darian when Cecily spoke up in time, "Let's go. Take me back. That should be sufficient for your report."

Larkin looked at Cecily, then at the disappearing helicopter, and reluctantly made a welcoming gesture, "Mrs. Fitzgerald, please get in the car."

Watching Cecily's retreating figure, Blaise narrowed his eyes and after a moment, beckoned with his finger.

Immediately, his subordinate approached, "Boss."

"Gather everyone."

"What do you mean?"

Blaise gazed at the car disappearing into the night and smiled devilishly, "We're going to take Cecily."

Half an hour later, Cecily was brought to the seaside.

The man stood on a private yacht, a cigarette between his fingers, its smoke wafting around him and vaguely concealing his captivatingly handsome face.

It was dim all around, and from such a distance, Cecily couldn't see Darian's expression clearly. He stood there, reaching out his hand and motioning her to come, "Come here."

His voice, deep and alluring, was particularly seductive, but to Cecily, it sounded like the call of a demon.

Cecily was quickly brought aboard the ship and she looked around, only to see Darian and his bodyguards, without a trace of Aurelie.

"Where's Aurelie? What have you done to her?"

Darian gave a sly smile, pointed at the restless sea, and said, "You were too slow, and as a punishment, I sunk her."

The icy sea breeze lashed Cecily's face as she stared in disbelief at the water below, a surge of shock rising in her eyes.

She glared at Darian, and without a moment's hesitation, I sank her in the sea.
