Chapter 421 Is There Any Gratitude
Owen took a deep breath. "Good, good, no threat to life."
Sandra cried tears of joy, while Vivienne let out a long sigh of relief, glancing backat Cecily .
Cecily closed her eyes tightly, finally letting go of her high-strung nerves.
Darian was sent to the ward. Seeing Owen and Sandra inside, Vivienne called Cecily out.
No matter what, Freya did save Rowan this time. Now that she was still in the operating room, they had to check on her.
Just as they walked out of the ward, Larkin came over, panting heavily, clearly having rushed over.
"Mrs. Bennett, Miss Watson, how's the boss?"
Cecily glanced into the ward where Darian was still unconscious. "No danger to life."
"That's good, that's good."
"Did you catch those people?"
"Got two, the others ran away."
"Then don't bother catching them. I know who they are. They were just hired for the job. The main thing now is to investigate who placed the order with them."
Cecily had already guessed who it was, but no matter what, evidence was needed to speak.
"Yes, I understand, Miss Watson. Do you need to rest for a bit?"
Larkin saw the exhaustion on Cecily's face and heard the weakness in her voice, fearing she might collapse at any moment.
"We've tried persuading her, but she won't listen." Vivienne looked at Cecily, who had stood there all night without moving an inch. The only time she sat down to rest was when she called the doctor to treat her leg wound.
Cecily herself was still injured, but no matter how much they persuaded her, she wouldn't listen.
"I'm fine. I know my own body. Don't worry, go check on Freya."
Cecily had seen Freya's injuries. The bullet had hit close to her heart, making the situation very dangerous.
It had been a whole night, and she still hadn't come out of the operating room. It was hard to say if she could survive.
When Vivienne and Cecily reached the operating room door, they saw Jennifer kneeling there, staring blankly at the closed door, her eyes red and swollen from crying all night.
Bryan stood nearby with his head down, looking dejected. When he saw Vivienne and Cecily approaching, he only slightly lifted his eyelids without saying anything.
At that moment, the operating room door opened from the inside, and a nurse hurried out. Seeing family members at the door, she quickly asked, "Are you the patient's family?"
Bryan and Jennifer stepped forward almost simultaneously.
"I'm her mother."
"I'm her father. How is my daughter now?"
Hearing this, Cecily felt Vivienne's grip on her hand tighten a bit.
"The patient's condition is still very critical. Here's a critical condition notice that needs your signature."
"What?" Jennifer collapsed upon hearing this, and Bryan caught her just in time.
Her entire body went limp in Bryan's arms, crying out, "Freya, my Freya."
Bryan felt a ringing in his ears, his pupils trembling as he looked at the nurse. "You mean, she's not going to make it? She's so young, you have to save her, you have to save her!"
"We'll do our best, but given the current situation, you need to sign this critical condition notice as soon as possible."
"Bryan, our Freya won't die, she won't die. She said she wanted us to see her get married. She won't die. This must be a lie, it must be."
Jennifer cried uncontrollably, her whole body trembling.
"Doctor, please save her. She can't die. I'm begging you, please."
The nurse quickly said, "Ma'am, we'll do our best."
The nurse could only say that. Given the current situation, no one could guarantee that the person inside would survive.
They could only say they would do their best.
Vivienne watched this scene and sighed softly.
Freya ended up like this because she was trying to save Rowan. There was some gratitude, but if Freya and Jennifer hadn't tried to harm Cecily, none of this would have happened.
Had Gary not escorted Cecily out earlier that morning, it could have been Cecily lying in the emergency room, with her pleading and crying while the doctors attended to her.
So even though Freya saved Rowan, Vivienne found it hard to feel grateful to her.
In the end, Bryan signed the notice. Jennifer watched the nurse go back in and then collapsed against the door, trying to see something inside.
But she saw nothing. At this moment, her gaze shifted to Cecily and Vivienne.
Jennifer's hair was disheveled, her face covered in tears. She rushed over and grabbed Cecily's arm, gritting her teeth as she asked, "Cecily, do you see? The person you once tormented and despised is now lying in the operating room, life or death unknown, because she saved your son. I ask you, do you feel any guilt? Any gratitude?"
Cecily looked deeply at Jennifer.
Guilt?
Gratitude?
"I am grateful she saved my child, but if you hadn't hired people to kill me first, none of this would have happened."
