Chapter369 A Place to Go
The code for the villa's gate had not been changed, and Cecily entered directly by inputting the code.
"Mommy, Daddy doesn't seem to be home."
Cecily glanced at her wristwatch. "At this hour, he should be getting off work soon. We'll wait for him to come back."
Just as she finished speaking, a servant approached them. "Who are you? How dare you trespass?"
Hearing this, Cecily looked at the servant with puzzled eyes. "Trespass?"
"Yes, who are you? How did you get in?" asked the servant.
Cecily blinked, noticing that this servant was unfamiliar, likely newly hired, and thus didn't recognize them. She patiently explained, "I entered using the code. My name is Cecily, and this is my home."
"Your home?" The servant looked Cecily up and down, secretly despising her as just another foolish woman dreaming of being Darian's wife. "Can you women think of something practical for once? This is your home? What a joke. Dream on. Leave now, or I'll call the police."
"This is our home. Darian is our daddy. Calling the police won't help; we're here to see our daddy," Griffin retorted, hearing the servant's hostile tone and seeing her being rude to their mommy.
The servant looked them up and down again, her face full of disdain. "I've never heard of Mr. Fitzgerald having two children. Where did you bastards come from?"
Cecily's brows furrowed. If this servant was new and didn't recognize them, she could understand being driven away, but these words were too much.
She said, "Please speak properly. Aren't you afraid of being wrong and getting fired by Darian when he returns?"
"You're threatening me now? Go ahead, let Mr. Fitzgerald fire me," said the servant.
"He doesn't need to come back; I can fire you myself." Cecily was a little angry.
"You're the most pretentious woman I've seen trying to get close to Mr. Fitzgerald, even daring to claim you can fire me." The servant was also angry.
Cecily didn't want to argue further. She had prepared cash in her bag when she returned. She took out an amount equivalent to their monthly salary and placed it on the table. "You can leave now."
The servant still looked disdainful. "Do you really think you can fire me?"
"Gary," Cecily called out.
Gary smirked, lifted his hand to grab the stack of cash, and stuffed it into the servant's hands. He then grabbed her arm and tossed her out, his actions clean and decisive, without any hesitation. "It's done."
"Good." Surveying the area, Cecily noticed that all the servants were unfamiliar faces. She found it strange that Darian had replaced all the servants. "When will Mr. Fitzgerald be back?"
Seeing her decisive actions and recalling the previous servant's fate, the remaining servants dared not say much. "Mr. Fitzgerald is on a business trip. He should be back tomorrow."
Hearing that Darian wouldn't be back until tomorrow, Cecily felt a bit disappointed. "Do any of you have his phone number?"
Before returning, Cecily had tried calling Darian, but his number had changed, and she couldn't reach him.
Moreover, her previous phone had been taken by Eliza, and before going to the Bennett family, she had changed both her phone and number, losing all her stored contacts.
Thinking it over, she realized she had no way to contact Darian.
"We are just servants; we don't have access to Mr. Fitzgerald's private number."
Cecily nodded. "Alright, I understand."
This meant she would have to wait until tomorrow to see Darian.
Though she felt a bit down, there was nothing else she could do. She couldn't possibly call Darian back from his business trip.
"Could you please take our things to the room?" asked Cecily.
The servants hesitated. "May I ask who you are to Mr. Fitzgerald?"
"I am his ex-wife." Cecily smiled, glancing around. "But this villa is under my name."
She could have easily said that she was the true owner of the villa and that the property deed had only her name on it.
Cecily smiled softly as she thought to herself, ‘Perhaps this was why Darian had insisted on giving me these things. People change, and circumstances change, but what is under my name will always be mine. Whenever I return, I’ll have a home.’
Seeing their hesitation, Cecily added, "It's alright if you don't believe me. I came in myself, and any issues won't fall on you."
This made sense, and the servants, hearing Cecily's words, proceeded as she instructed.
Meanwhile, the servant who had been thrown out dialed a number with a face full of resentment. "Mrs. Cruz, there's a crazy woman in the villa. I think her last name is Watson."
On the other end, Freya squinted her eyes. "Cecily Watson? It's her."
Her grip on the phone tightened. ‘Cecily has returned!’
"I see." Freya immediately hung up and hurried to find Jennifer for advice. "Mom, Cecily is back. She's returned to Silver Frost Capital and is staying at the villa she used to live in with Darian."
"What?" Jennifer squinted her eyes. "So soon? It's only been a year, and she's back already."
Since being thrown out of the Bennett family, they had told Bryan that they feared causing more trouble between him and Vivienne and wanted to stay in Silver Frost Capital for a while. Bryan had agreed and arranged a house for them.
