Chapter 613: "Stop fighting, stop fighting."

Aurelie got what he was saying, and her heart just dropped. "Who?"

"Want a peek?" Todd clapped twice, and one of his guys brought in a laptop which was showing a live feed from the room next to Aurelie.

Her heart skipped a beat when she saw the screen.

It was Nathaniel!

"Nathaniel!" She stumbled to her feet, trying to get closer to the screen, but Todd snatched the laptop away and set it in front of himself, eyes gleaming like he was watching the best movie ever.

Nathaniel was a mess—covered in wounds, his white shirt soaked in blood. He was alone, surrounded by a bunch of goons, all armed to the teeth.

A chill ran down her spine, freezing her to the core.

"Exciting, huh?" Todd grinned at her.

Fueled by emotion, Aurelie lunged forward, but Todd's goons grabbed her, holding her back a few feet from him. She screamed, "Let him go! This has nothing to do with him. The one who owes you money is Joshua, the Miller family, it's me, not him!"

"But he's the one who beat up my guys, and he volunteered to pay your debt. And hey, I didn't force him. He agreed." Todd said, all calm and collected.

"Stop it, tell them to stop!" Aurelie begged, eyes glued to the screen.

"He signed an agreement. He can't stop until he beats everyone I've set up." Todd replied.

"This is murder, murder!" Aurelie shouted.

"Nope, he signed an agreement. Whether he lives or dies, not my problem." Todd said slowly, placing the laptop in front of Aurelie to savor their suffering.

Every scene on the screen was a punch to Aurelie's heart.

In the next room, Nathaniel was surrounded by a mob. He was outnumbered, and they all had weapons. This was no fair fight.

On the screen, one of Todd's goons suddenly attacked Nathaniel from behind, slashing his back. Nathaniel grunted, falling forward, his knees hitting the ground hard. He propped himself up with one hand, gritting his teeth, his head bowed in pain, sweat-soaked hair casting a shadow over his eyes, but not hiding the fierceness in them.

Aurelie's face went pale. She rushed forward, kneeling in front of Todd, "I beg you, let him go. I have money, in the apartment you took me from. Go get it and let him go!"

Aurelie screamed, her voice raw.

The money she mentioned was left by Cecily before she went to Detroit. If it were just Aurelie being captured, she wouldn't have used it because she couldn't repay Cecily. She might have preferred to die rather than spend that money.

But seeing Nathaniel like this, she had no choice. She had to use that money, just to save him.

Todd looked coldly at the kneeling Aurelie, showing no intention of stopping. He was more interested in watching this bloody but interesting struggle.

"Sorry, can't stop it. Just watch with me. Let's see if he can beat all my guys and survive." Todd smiled.

Aurelie stared with wide eyes. Survive? Beat all of them?

So many people against him alone, and they all had weapons while Nathaniel had nothing, fighting barehanded. This was not fair.

And they were all aiming to kill. This was an unwinnable fight.

They wanted him dead!

Aurelie's mind was in chaos, a deep sense of helplessness suffocating her. The sound of sticks hitting Nathaniel's back made her feel like she was on the verge of collapse.

Pain radiated from her chest. Aurelie struggled free from the goons holding her arms, pushed open the door, and rushed out. They tried to follow.

Todd, lounging on the sofa, raised his hand, signaling to let her go. He had locked the door from the inside, so unless someone inside opened it, no one from outside could get in.

Aurelie rushed to the door, trying to turn the handle, but it wouldn't budge. Panic set in, and she started pounding on the door, "Nathaniel! Nathaniel!"

She couldn't see what was happening inside, only hearing the faint sounds of fighting.

On the verge of madness, tears streamed down her face.

Aurelie desperately pounded on the heavy iron door, "Nathaniel! Why did you get involved? You've already saved me once, I owe you enough, why make me owe you more? Come out and stop fighting! I beg you all!"

She cried out hoarsely, not knowing if anyone inside could hear her.

In a frenzy, Aurelie kept picking up things and throwing them at the iron door. It was clearly impossible to break it open, something anyone else would call stupid, but she kept doing it.

Desperate and broken, she mechanically repeated the same action, her hands cut by something sharp, blood flowing freely, but she didn't feel the pain, not stopping for a moment.

"Sir, that crazy woman is smashing the door," one of Todd's subordinates reported, seeing Aurelie's madness.

They felt like they were dealing with two lunatics. Nathaniel inside the room was a lunatic, signing that agreement knowing he would die, just for a slim chance.

Aurelie outside the room was also a lunatic, knowing she couldn't break the door, yet tirelessly repeating the futile action.

Her banging echoed through the house, drawing the attention of everyone around.

"I heard," Todd said, frowning and rubbing his ears. "So noisy. Make that crazy woman stop."

"Yes." The subordinates quickly went out, sending two people to pull Aurelie away from the door. Aurelie picked up a stick and swung it wildly.

She gripped the stick with both hands, swinging it without any technique. "Get away, all of you get away."

"You can't break it open, stop wasting your energy!" one of the subordinates said.

"Open the door, let him out! If he dies, I won't let you go!" she shouted hoarsely, her threats having no effect on them.

She knew it was useless, but she didn't know what else to say or do. She was terrified that something would happen to Nathaniel, she was really scared!

Her cut hand, covered in blood, trembled as she gripped the stick tightly, swinging it wildly for a long time. She didn't let anyone get close to her, not knowing if she hit anyone.

Whenever someone approached, she swung the stick faster. The subordinates trying to control her were hit several times, raising their hands to block, but they were unable to get close, retreating frequently.

The subordinates, hit several times, got angry. Though the hits weren't serious, they hurt enough. Cursing the crazy woman, they rolled up their sleeves, ready to move in.

But her wild swings left the skilled subordinates unsure of how to approach. They finally went back to report to their boss, "Sir, that woman is crazy, absolutely crazy."

Todd pinched his brow, looking at his subordinates like they were useless, waving his hand, "Then let her smash. Keep track of how much she damages and make her pay for it!"

"Yes."

Seeing no one approaching her, Aurelie stopped swinging the stick and continued smashing the door lock.

She didn't even take a breath, not knowing where her strength came from.

But suddenly, a sharp pain hit her abdomen, and Aurelie paused.

"Aurelie!" A familiar voice called from behind. Aurelie vaguely heard Cecily's voice, thinking she was hallucinating, until a hand supported her.

Aurelie turned and saw Cecily. Unsure if it was real or a dream, she collapsed in front of Cecily, "Cecily, please save Nathaniel."
