Chapter 684 Exchanging Secrets

Cecily asked Desmond, and Desmond said he didn't know either.

Then she called Darian, who assured her he would be back soon, and only then did Cecily feel relieved.

Desmond noticed that Cecily hadn't been eating much lately, so he had the servants prepare some fruit and desserts and placed them in front of Cecily. He said, "Mrs. Fitzgerald, you haven't had much of an appetite lately. You should at least eat something. If you get too thin, Vivienne will be worried."

"Will she really be worried?" Cecily looked at the unanswered messages on her phone and gave a bitter smile. "She's chosen to ignore me now. What do you think she's up to?"

Cecily's gaze fell on Desmond's face. Desmond lowered his eyes and didn't look at Cecily. "I'm not sure what Ms. Bennett is doing, but whatever it is, it's to avoid hurting you."

Cecily looked at Desmond and sighed softly.

She knew Desmond knew something, but he wouldn't say a word, and there was nothing she could do about it.

Cecily looked at the desserts in front of her and thought about the baby in her belly. She had to eat something. She picked up a delicate little pastry and took small bites. Even though it was made by the best pastry chef in the house, she couldn't taste anything.

After finally finishing one, that familiar feeling of nausea came over her, and Cecily covered her mouth and rushed to the bathroom.

Desmond looked on in confusion.

Was the dessert really that bad?

It made Cecily throw up.

Desmond picked one up and took a bite. It tasted fine to him, even though he usually didn't eat sweets.

Cecily threw up violently and took a while to compose herself. When she came out of the bathroom, she saw Desmond had called two doctors to wait nearby.

Cecily was taken aback by the scene. "Desmond, what are you doing?"

"Mrs. Fitzgerald, I noticed you haven't been feeling well lately. I thought you should see a doctor."

Cecily knew Desmond was concerned about her. "Thank you, but I don't need a doctor. You can send them away."

Cecily sent the doctors away, but Desmond was still worried. He frowned and said, "Mrs. Fitzgerald, Vivienne instructed us to take good care of you before she left, but you're clearly not well and refuse to see a doctor."

Cecily glanced around to make sure no one else was there and motioned for Desmond to come closer.

Desmond walked over suspiciously. "Mrs. Fitzgerald, what's the matter?"

Cecily leaned in mysteriously and lowered her voice. "I'll tell you a secret if you tell me one. How about that?"

Desmond immediately straightened up. He knew what Cecily was getting at.

"I don't want to know your secret," Desmond said.

If he listened, Cecily might make him reveal where Vivienne was.

Desmond wanted to avoid that at all costs.

Cecily looked at Desmond's earnest refusal and said helplessly, "You catch on quickly!"

Desmond folded his hands. "I understand your intentions, but please don't make it difficult for me. I really don't know anything."

"See, you're lying again. If you don't want to say, just don't say it. Why claim you don't know?" Cecily picked up a strawberry and ate it. The sweet and sour taste didn't make her feel like throwing up.

"Alright then. You don't need to worry about me. I'm pregnant. The nausea earlier was morning sickness. I didn't say anything because Hunter and Keaen are always trying to mess with me. I'm afraid they'll target my baby. I've already lost one child, so I have to be extra careful."

Cecily knew Desmond was trustworthy, so she told him.

Desmond looked at Cecily with surprise and joy. "Mrs. Fitzgerald, is this true?"

"Yes. Please keep it a secret."

Desmond said joyfully, "Congratulations! I understand. I'll arrange for someone trustworthy to take care of you."

Cecily shook her head. "No need for special care. I can take care of myself."

"Then I'll have the kitchen prepare lighter meals. Ms. Bennett will be very happy to know you're pregnant."

Cecily nodded. "Okay."

"I'll go make the arrangements."

"Alright."

Desmond left joyfully. After giving instructions to the kitchen, he returned to his room. Cecily sat in the living room, watching quietly. When she saw Desmond go back to his room, she followed him casually.

Desmond's door wasn't locked. Cecily gently pushed it open and saw Desmond on the phone.

Cecily wasn't surprised. She knew Desmond reported everything to Vivienne daily and that only Desmond could contact Vivienne.

Desmond couldn't possibly not call Vivienne about her pregnancy.

After Desmond finished the call, Cecily quietly closed the door and went back downstairs to sit on the sofa, eating fruit as if nothing had happened.

Desmond came downstairs, calm and collected. Seeing Cecily still in the living room eating fruit, he walked over and said, "Mrs. Fitzgerald, dinner will be ready soon. When will Mr. Fitzgerald be back?"

Cecily checked the time. "I called him. He has something to do and might not make it back for dinner. It's okay. Have the kitchen prepare less food, and they can cook for him when he returns."

"Alright." Desmond quickly went to make the arrangements.

In the evening.

Cecily ate some noodles by herself and then went upstairs to her room. She wasn't feeling well after throwing up earlier and felt a bit dizzy. Cecily knew these were normal symptoms for a pregnant woman.

But this pregnancy seemed to be more difficult than the previous two, which hadn't caused such strong reactions.

Cecily leaned against the bed and fell asleep without realizing it. She didn't know when Darian came back, but when she opened her eyes, she heard clear voices calling, "Mommy."
