Chapter 701 Found the Ring at Giselle's

Giselle's eyes were red with anger, and she bit her lip. "Since it's a misunderstanding, what else do you want us to explain here?"

"But you just called me a thief and took my ring. Don't you think you owe me and my child an apology? Or do you think I have no temper and can be bullied without fighting back?" Cecily retorted.

Giselle bit her lip hard, knowing that if she didn't apologize quickly and stop Cecily from pursuing the matter, things would get more complicated.

Giselle covered her still numb and painful cheek, swallowed her pride, and looked at Cecilia and Imogen. "You misunderstood Cecily. Hurry up and apologize to her."

Imogen still hadn't figured out what was going on.

The ring was clearly hers, but after being in Rowan's pocket for over an hour, it no longer fit her finger.

Thinking this, Imogen strode towards Rowan. "If this ring isn't mine, then my ring must still be on this child."

She made a move to search Rowan again.

Cecily wanted to stop her, but Giselle was quicker and blocked Imogen.

"What are you doing?" Giselle frowned.

"Giselle, my ring must still be on this child. If I search again, I'll definitely find it," Imogen said urgently.

Giselle looked at Imogen, her face dark with anger.

How could Imogen be so stupid?

Why couldn't she see that they had been played by Cecily? Since Cecily had deliberately put a ring in Rowan's pocket for them to find, how could she not have removed the ring they had planted?

The ring they had prepared had long been swapped by Cecily. How could they still find it on Rowan?

"Stop making a scene. We've already searched once. Her child didn't steal anything," Giselle said.

"Giselle, believe me, the ring is definitely in Rowan's pocket," Imogen replied.

Looking at the stubborn Imogen, Giselle was very annoyed.

The people around them had noticed something was off.

"Miss Fairfax is really strange. At first, she said she didn't know where the ring was, then she was absolutely sure it was in the child's pocket. After finding Ms. Bennett's ring, she didn't even look at it before claiming it was hers. Now she's sure the ring is in the child's pocket again. How can she be so certain?"

"Exactly, how can she be so sure the ring is in the child's pocket?"

The crowd murmured.

Cecily seized the moment. "Miss Fairfax, how can you be so sure? It's as if you put it there yourself."

"I'm sure the ring was taken by Rowan," Imogen said loudly.

"Enough, shut up!" Giselle shouted angrily.

If this continued, Imogen would expose them.

"We falsely accused them. Come and apologize," Giselle said.

Giselle still had some sense, knowing that continuing to make a scene would only be detrimental to them.

The two were unwilling and didn't want to apologize, standing still.

"Didn't you hear me? Hurry up and apologize!" Seeing Imogen and Cecilia still standing there, Giselle impatiently scolded them.

She glanced at Cecily and unwillingly said, "I'm sorry."

Cecily sneered. "Is that it? I don't accept such a reluctant apology."

"What more do you want? This was just a misunderstanding. Do you have to be so aggressive?" Cecilia asked angrily.

"You stopped us first, accused us of theft without any evidence, and demanded a search? You're the ones being aggressive!" Cecily retorted.

Cecilia wanted to say more, but Giselle stopped her. Giselle took a deep breath, walked up to Cecily, suppressed all her emotions, and said, "Cecily, I'm sorry. We were wrong. We accused you without understanding the situation. Please forgive us and don't hold it against us."

It seemed Giselle was really panicking, as she didn't hesitate to apologize at this moment.

"What about you two?" Cecily looked at the two behind Giselle.

Giselle glared at them, and Imogen stepped forward. "Ms. Bennett, I'm sorry. We were wrong."

"You should apologize to my child. After all, it was them you falsely accused," Cecily said.

"Don't push it." Imogen gritted her teeth. Apologizing in public was already humiliating enough, and now she had to apologize to her child.

"Imogen, you should apologize quickly. Didn't you just demand an apology from others? Now that you've falsely accused someone, what's wrong with them wanting a sincere apology?"

"Yeah, you were so over the top just now, accusing these two kids of stealing without any evidence. Any mother would be upset. You should apologize to the kids."

The people around urged Imogen to apologize quickly. Seeing Imogen still not understanding the situation, Giselle angrily pulled her aside and whispered, "Apologize quickly. Dragging this out won't do us any good."

"Giselle, they're too arrogant, and that ring..."

Giselle interrupted, "Don't mention the ring again. Just apologize."

Imogen stomped her foot and, under Giselle's constant urging, reluctantly faced the children. "Rowan, Griffin, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have accused you of theft without any evidence. I ask for your forgiveness."

Cecilia also walked over and apologized, seemingly sincerely.

Griffin turned his head. "We don't accept your apology. If you were falsely accused like this, would you accept our apology? Right, Rowan?"

"Yeah."

"You guys are deliberately making things difficult for us."

Griffin snorted. "We just don't accept your apology. Is that making things difficult for you? What about you? What did you just do?"

Giselle walked over, grabbed the back of Imogen's neck, and forced her down. Giselle's movements were swift, and Imogen was bent over. Giselle shouted, "Keep apologizing until they're satisfied."

Imogen was pinned down by Giselle and couldn't get up, remaining in that humiliating position, bent over. She bit her lip and said nothing.

Giselle barked, "Apologize!"

Imogen finally couldn't hold back her emotions and started crying. As she cried, she said, "I'm sorry, we were wrong. We won't dare to do it again. Please forgive us."

Cecily glanced at her but said nothing. Giselle didn't release her grip on Imogen, forcing her to apologize repeatedly.

After countless apologies, Cecily finally spoke, "That's enough."

Giselle then let go of Imogen. Every movement of Giselle's was filled with anger, but she didn't dare to show it and had to suppress it.

Imogen was already in tears, and the three of them had lost all their previous arrogance.

Cecilia, afraid of being forced to apologize in the same way, had already hidden behind.

Giselle took a deep breath, her cold eyes fixed on Cecily. "Cecily, are you satisfied now?"

Cecily nodded.

Giselle felt a sense of relief. "Good, as long as you're satisfied."

With that, Giselle turned to leave.

Tonight, she had lost all her dignity.

She hadn't expected Cecily to be so difficult to deal with. First, the fake invitation, and now the theft incident, none of which had worked against her. Instead, it had put Giselle in a very awkward and embarrassing situation.

Giselle felt a tightness in her chest, unable to vent her frustration.

Imogen was unwilling to apologize, and so was she, but she understood the situation too well and just wanted to leave.

Just as she stepped out of the banquet hall, Cecily said, "Hold on, the matter isn't resolved yet. Don't be in such a hurry to leave."

Giselle turned back, her voice rising uncontrollably with anger. "What else is unresolved?"

"Miss Fairfax caused such a big misunderstanding looking for her ring, even calling the police. But her precious ring still hasn't been found. No one can leave until it's found."

Giselle squinted her eyes. She really couldn't understand what Cecily meant.

Cecily had discovered that they had planted the ring in her son's pocket to frame them for theft, so she had swapped the ring. The ring they had planted should still be in her possession, so why was she still looking for it? Was she trying to create trouble for herself?

Regardless, Giselle was now very wary of Cecily and just wanted to leave quickly. She wasn't going to look for the ring.

"If you still want to help her find the ring, do it yourself. I'm tired and want to go home and rest," Giselle said.

She tried to leave again but was blocked by Cecily's bodyguards.

Cecily would never let them off so easily!

"Before you go, let's finish the search. After all, my two sons, who were also suspects, were searched. You and Cecilia haven't been fully searched yet. What if the ring is really on you?" Cecily pressed on.

Giselle felt a sense of panic, sensing something was wrong but unable to pinpoint what it was.

She instinctively said, "I refuse to be searched. You have no right to search me."

"Right now, you're a suspect. If you don't get searched, you can't prove your innocence. I'm doing this for your own good," Cecily said, repeating Giselle's words from a few minutes ago.

Giselle's eyes filled with anger. "Do you really think someone would suspect me of theft?"

"I really do. Anything is possible," Cecily retorted.

Cecily's words left Giselle speechless.

"What do you all think?" Cecily asked the crowd.

Earlier, everyone had been indignant, but now no one spoke.

When Cecily asked, the crowd looked at each other. Someone spoke up, "Miss Bennett, the police are here. Let them search, and you'll clear your name."

Once one person suggested it, others followed.

"That's right. Didn't we just say that you and Miss Thorne were with Miss Fairfax the whole time? So you two are the most suspicious. Let's search, don't treat it differently. Ms. Bennett's kids cooperated with the investigation."

"Just cooperate with the search. Once it's done, no one will suspect you anymore."

Facing such pressure, Giselle looked to Imogen for help. At this moment, if Imogen said she didn't want to look for the ring anymore, the matter would be over.

But Imogen was just wiping her tears, not looking at her.

Under everyone's suggestions, Giselle had no choice. If she left now, she would become the prime suspect. Even if she didn't steal it, it would be assumed she did.

Giselle was forced to agree to the search.

"Fine, since everyone says so, I'll agree to the search. I didn't steal anything, so I have nothing to fear." Giselle put down her bag and spread her arms. "Search away."

Giselle's dress had no pockets, so there wasn't much to search. The police said, "We need to check your bag."

"Go ahead, it's all my stuff in there."

With her consent, the police began the search.

Giselle appeared calm, but inside she was uneasy, feeling that Cecily's suggestion was malicious.

She didn't know if agreeing to the search was the right decision.

Cecily's gaze was calm. Griffin tugged at Cecily's hand. "Mommy, what else did you do?"

"Mommy said she would make her suffer the consequences," Cecily replied softly.

Griffin smiled, knowing there was more to come.

"Miss Bennett, is this your ring?" The police took a ring out of Giselle's bag.

Giselle's eyes widened instantly. This wasn't her ring.

"Miss Fairfax, please come and see this ring," the police said.

Imogen sniffled and looked over. Seeing the ring in the police's hand, she spoke before Giselle could. "That's my ring."

In an instant, Giselle felt a sense of despair.
