Chapter 216 Finally Found Her
"Close the door."
After Blaise left, Quentin immediately had the door locked.
He couldn't shake off the chill from the way Blaise had looked at him.
At this moment, he realized his actions had gone too far.
Blaise was a lunatic. Who knew if he would come back later and finish him off after dealing with his own matters!
...
Blaise placed the retrieved herbs in front of the old man with white hair. The old man examined them carefully, took a whiff, and nodded. "These are the ones."
The old man was surprised, "How did you manage to get them back so quickly?"
Blaise raised his gaze, his pale lips curling slightly. "Enough talk. Hurry and treat her."
"All right."
The old man noticed something unusual about Blaise's expression, but he knew they couldn't afford to delay Cecily's treatment. As he was about to take the herbs to prepare the antidote, his gaze inevitably fell on Blaise's severed finger.
The old man's expression tightened, and he furrowed his brow. "What happened to your hand?"
Blaise glanced at his own finger, which he had already bandaged, then looked at Cecily. "Don't mind me, just cure her first."
"Go and have your wound treated to prevent infection. Hurry up," the old man urged Blaise.
"Got it. Stop nagging."
"Can't you take care of yourself a bit?"
Blaise smirked, "Sure."
The old man grumbled as he carried the three boxes of herbs out.
Blaise walked up to the woman, his gaze falling on her pale face. "I've spent all my money to save you. Now I'm broke. If you dare to die, I'll go and take it out on Darian."
As he spoke, his men entered the room.
"Boss."
"What is it?"
"Darian is bringing people. They are almost at the secluded bay."
Blaise narrowed his eyes, not surprised at all.
Darian couldn't find Cecily, and his suspicions were limited to three possibilities: she was dead, saved by a passerby, or taken by him.
Sooner or later, he would come looking for Cecily.
Blaise's deep gaze flickered over Cecily, and he walked out, getting into the car and heading to the secluded bay.
Blaise had just arrived when Darian showed up.
Seeing Darian hurrying over, Blaise raised an eyebrow. "What brings you here?"
Darian abruptly stopped and looked at Blaise. "Is Cecily with you?"
He got straight to the point.
Blaise looked at Darian with a grim expression. "Yes, she's with me."
Darian's heart skipped a beat.
‘Finally, find her?’
"Where is she now?"
"She's in my heart," Blaise replied.
Darian's face darkened. "I don't have time for your jokes."
Seeing Darian's displeasure, Blaise chuckled, "I'm not joking. I said she's in my heart. What's wrong with that?"
"You're quite interesting, coming to me to find her when you didn't believe me," Blaise remarked.
Darian's hand clenched, his gaze cold and disbelieving. "How can you be so calm when something happened to Cecily?"
Blaise's eyes flashed. "What good would it do to lose my mind? Can madness bring her back?"
"Blaise!" Darian's voice grew heavier. "If Cecily is with you, let me see her."
Darian had been frantic with worry these past few days, needing to know if Cecily was safe.
Blaise licked his lips. "She's really not here. You can search if you don't believe me."
Darian's eyes narrowed, his gaze turning colder as if trying to discern the truth in Blaise's words.
Darian could only rely on speculation now; he couldn't be a hundred percent sure that Cecily was with Blaise.
And he didn't believe that Blaise was telling the truth about her not being there.
After all, Blaise was involved in this matter; he took the children and returned them, and Landon was dealt with by him.
If he said to search, Darian wouldn't be so foolish as actually to send someone to search.
In a place as big as Dorde, it would be too easy to hide someone.
Darian stared at Blaise, his eyes narrowed, pondering for a full minute before turning away.
Whether what Blaise said was true didn't matter. What mattered was whether Cecily was safe. If she was with him, that was good; at least she was safe, and it didn't matter if he didn't tell the truth.
But Darian didn't get the answer from him; he would continue to search until he found her. No matter what. 'Until Cecily's body is seen, no one is allowed to declare her dead.' Darian thought.
Coming out of Blaise's place and getting into the car, Darian's face turned even colder. "Have someone keep a close eye on Blaise!"
"Yes."
Blaise watched Darian leave; his icy eyes dangerously narrowed.
Until Cecily woke up, he couldn't let Darian know where Cecily was.
Darian should also suffer a bit for this woman and feel uncomfortable for a while.
Moreover, the poison in Cecily, upon examination, did not come from a bullet or an external injury.
In other words, it wasn't poison administered during a fight, ruling out Owen and Ophelia's suspicion.
Since it wasn't them, it must be someone else, and this person is lurking in the shadows, undetected by them.
If Cecily were taken back by Darian now, it would mean exposing her to that person's view, posing even more danger.
Staying here, making the outside world think Cecily was already dead, was the safest option for Cecily.
...
Back at Silver Frost Capital.
The bodyguard stepped forward to report, "Mr. Fitzgerald, those few thugs have been found, but they still insist that Miss Cecily was the one who ordered them in the first place."
Darian furrowed his brows. "Continue the interrogation until they spit out the truth."
Upon reconsideration of this matter, he could not rule out the possibility of Ophelia orchestrating it herself.
Since the child in Ophelia's belly was not his, if she gave birth, she would constantly fear him discovering this secret.
She didn't want to keep the child, but she couldn't simply abort it, so she framed Cecily, stoking his anger and leading to his decision to divorce Cecily."
In this way, she got rid of the troublesome child and resolved Cecily at the same time. She would achieve her ultimate goal, killing two birds with one stone.
He hadn't thought of this before, but Darian found it incredibly reasonable once this idea emerged.
However, Darian couldn't figure out one thing. Both he and the police had investigated the matter, and with Ophelia's abilities, it was unlikely that she could have done it without leaving any traces. This was indeed a point that puzzled Darian.
