Chapter 225 Remarry

She felt his warmth, his scent—so familiar it almost hurt.

Cecily's heart did a little flip. Leaning against Darian's chest, his heartbeat thudding strong and steady, her own heart started racing.

"Cecily, I finally found you," Darian breathed out, his arms wrapping around her like he never wanted to let go.

All those bottled-up feelings came crashing down. He held her tight, like he was afraid she'd slip away again.

Cecily's hand in her pocket clenched a bit. She was kinda stunned, not sure what to do next.

Aurelie watched them, a storm of emotions swirling inside her.

Even though Darian had changed a lot since before, could Cecily really forgive all the crap he put her through?

Aurelie sighed. She didn't have the answers, and it wasn't her place to judge.
She waved at Rowan and Griffin, led them out, and closed the door behind her, giving Cecily and Darian a quiet environment.

It took Cecily a moment to snap out of it. She gently pushed Darian away, whispering, "Darian, let me go for a sec."

Darian's arms loosened, though he clearly didn't want to. He let her go, reluctantly.

Cecily stepped back, looking up at him. She was shocked to see Darian almost in tears.

She'd never seen him like this before. Right now, he seemed less like the tough guy and more gentle.

Cecily hesitated, "You good? Just got back today and heard you've been hunting me down for the past two months."

She didn't say more. When she glanced up, she caught him staring hard at her. In his blue eyes, she saw this crazy intense affection, and it made her feel kinda awkward.

She asked, "You good?"

Darian said in a low voice, "I'm not good."

Cecily gave an awkward smile, lost for words.

While she was still processing, Darian stepped forward and pulled her into a hug. He gently stroked her soft hair and whispered, his voice shaky, "Cecily, I'm sorry."

Cecily was confused.

Darian went on, "Everything before was on me. Don't leave me, okay? If you're still mad, you can do whatever you want to me."

Just as he finished, the door swung open.

Griffin walked in with a serious expression, carrying a large broom. He handed it to Cecily and said, "Here, you can whack him with this."

Rowan chimed in, "I'm all for it."

Cecily looked at the broom, then at Darian standing there.

Darian was at a loss for words.

Seeing his confused look, Cecily grinned, "You serious about what you just said?"

Darian nodded earnestly, "Yeah. Hit me. As long as you're not mad at me." He turned around, standing tall.

Cecily looked at his broad back and then gave a faint smile.

Darian stood there, back to Cecily, bracing for a smack that never came. Instead, he heard the broom clatter to the floor.

He spun around to find Cecily staring at him with a blank look. She said faintly, "Why bother hitting you? You saved my butt on that cliff, so we're even. If you're still feeling guilty, let me live with Griffin and Rowan. And no, I'm not saying we should ditch Silver Frost Capital. You can drop by whenever."

With a bitter smile, he looked at her, feeling kinda lost. "Is there really nothing left for us to talk about except the kids?"

Cecily pressed her lips together, then let out a soft sigh, "I'm afraid so."

Hearing that, Darian's hand clenched at his side. He looked at Cecily, elegant but cold. Then, he reached out and gently ruffled her hair, "Cecily, what do I gotta do to get another shot with you?"

Cecily shivered at his touch. In all those eight years, he'd never spoken to her so softly. She lowered her head a bit. His low, husky voice calling her name had this weird, seductive vibe. It was what she'd wanted before. Now, it just felt empty.

She got what he was hinting at. She looked him straight in the eye and said, "Darian, the past is the past."

Ever since Cecily bailed on the Fitzgerald Estate five years back, her future had zilch to do with Darian.

Darian let out a bitter laugh.

He stared at Cecily standing there, her face cold as ice.

Looked like she was totally over him. She didn't want him anymore.
But he wasn't ready to let her go.

He thought, 'Sorry, babe, I love you, and I ain't letting go.'

Darian chuckled, feeling like a fool. Since she was all about Griffin and Rowan, he'd play that card.

He said, "What about Griffin and Rowan? The Fitzgerald clan won't let you take them. If you wanna be with the kids, the fastest way is to be with me."

Cecily gave a faint smile, "You trying to threaten me again?"

"It's not a threat, it's just facts. You knew you couldn't take them, so you came back to Silver Frost Capital, right?"

If she could've taken the kids, Darian was sure she wouldn't have come back.

Cecily nodded, not denying it, "So what?"

"Marry me again. That way, you can be with Griffin and Rowan every day. Plus, it's a shot for me to make things right. That's my only ask. If you agree, from now on, I'll do whatever you say. Deal?"

When Cecily heard Darian say he'd listen to her from now on, she stiffened a bit.

She couldn't believe Darian actually said that.

Cecily looked at him, puzzled.

Darian's words kinda made him seem like he was backing down a bit, even showing a touch of humility.

Cecily blinked, "Darian, your promise is making me a bit skeptical."

Darian was a business genius. One move from him could shake up the whole Silver Frost Capital. It was tough for her to buy what he was saying now.

"You don't trust me?" he asked.

"Do you trust yourself?" she shot back.

"Yeah, I do," Darian said, all confident.

"Well, I don't."

There was a time when Cecily would've been all touched, but now, she just couldn't believe it anymore.

And she definitely wasn't looking to get hitched again.

Cecily said, "I heard your sleep issues are getting worse. I can keep treating you, and you let Griffin and Rowan stay with me. Deal? It's a win-win."

Darian chuckled, kinda helpless, "Cecily, are we talking business here?"
