Chapter 309 Cecily Deliberately Avoiding Darian
Cecily deliberately avoided Darian, not knowing what Darian had dealt with today. He came back early today, just as Cecily was thinking of taking the kids to a family restaurant for dinner.
Darian saw Cecily sitting on the sofa with a child on each side, his gaze softened. His eyes shifted to Vincent, who was calling Cecily sister.
Darian's gaze turned cold. How come this guy was here too!
Vincent was the first to spot Darian entering the room. He was keen and observant, taking in every detail. He smiled and greeted him, saying, "Darian is back."
Cecily also looked up, and when she saw Darian, the two children's faces lit up. Griffin ran to Darian, clinging to him, "Daddy, you're back."
Sister, you two talk; I'll head out," Vincent said politely, displaying maturity as he stood up without interrupting the family of four.
"Sure, we'll let you know when we choose a restaurant."
"Great, I love eating." Vincent left confidently under Darian's cold gaze.
“Daddy, why do you keep staring at Vincent and ignoring me? Do you like Uncle Vincent too?" Griffin asked, shaking Darian's leg.
"What do you mean by 'like'? Who likes him?" Darian got to the point.
"Me, big brother, and mommy, we all like Uncle Vincent."
Darian fell silent.
Cecily observed how Griffin clung to Darian's leg before glancing at Rowan standing beside her. Rowan appeared more composed and less exuberant than Griffin, showing less affection towards Darian. Cecily sensed that Rowan also wanted to express his feelings, but his reserved demeanor made it challenging.
She gently patted Rowan's head and suggested, "Rowan, why don't you go ask Daddy what he would like to eat tonight?
"Okay." Rowan nodded obediently and ran to Darian, imitating Griffin by reaching out and hugging Darian's leg. "Daddy."
Darian looked at the leg ornaments on both sides and raised an eyebrow. "Is it your new hobby to hug legs?"
Cecily watched the three of them - father and sons - and was amused by Darian's teasing.
Rowan looked up at Darian. When it came to the leg-hugging hobby, Griffin was more familiar with it.
"Daddy, mommy is asking what you want to eat tonight."
"What do I want to eat?" Darian's eyes flashed with a faint smile as he looked at the relaxed Cecily.
He picked up the two boys, placed them on the sofa, then sat next to Cecily, naturally wrapping his arm around her waist and asked softly, "What do you think?"
Cecily was momentarily surprised by Darian's gesture, understanding his meaning instantly. She pretended not to know and said, "Who knows what you like to eat."
"Do you like Vincent too?"
"Yes?" Cecily was taken aback by Darian's question, but seeing his expression, she smiled. "Vincent is nice, why wouldn't I like him? What's wrong? Are you jealous?"
"Yes." Darian's intense gaze met Cecily's beautiful eyes, openly admitting it.
Cecily pursed her lips, feeling a bit uncomfortable under his gaze.
Darian, however, smiled and leaned in to kiss her lightly. Cecily trembled slightly, and she nervously glanced at the two children, pushing him away hastily. "The kids are here, what are you doing?"
Darian ran his hand through her hair, glancing at the two children who were now covering their eyes.
Griffin covered his eyes with his hand but peeked through his fingers, whispering, "We can't see a thing, not a thing at all.”
Rowan looked at Griffin, then at his embarrassed mother, and pulled Griffin away, who wanted to keep watching.
Darian withdrew his gaze, his dark eyes gently sweeping over her face. "They're not here now."
Cecily's face stiffened, and she stared at him speechlessly, pushing him away. "You have no shame."
Darian chuckled. "Only with you."
His fingers gently traced her cheek, and as he moved in for a kiss, Aurelie's words unexpectedly resurfaced in Cecily's thoughts.
What if she got pregnant?
With that thought, a blush crept onto Cecily's face. Just as Darian was about to kiss her, Cecily suddenly bent her leg and kicked him in the stomach, pushing him away.
Taken aback, Darian staggered backward as Cecily gazed at him with a blend of astonishment and resolve. "I'll be sharing a bed with Rowan and Griffin tonight. You'll be sleeping alone.
Darian was left bewildered by Cecily's sudden change in demeanor.
His first thought was whether he had done something wrong.
"Cecily?"
Cecily ran off as if escaping.
Darian got up from the floor, furrowing his brows slightly in resignation.
Cecily had lost her appetite for dinner, so she had the hotel send their meals to the room. During dinner, Darian watched Cecily closely, worried about making a misstep that could lead to him being asked to leave that night.
After dinner, Cecily went straight to the kids' room. "Rowan and Griffin, mommy will sleep with you tonight."
The kids gladly made room for Cecily, giving her a large space to lie down.
Darian stood at the door with a look of sorrow, resembling a neglected wife.
"Rowan, turn off the lights. Griffin, close the door." With Cecily's command, the two kids acted swiftly.
"Goodnight, mommy."
"Goodnight, my darlings."
Cecily closed her eyes, but the thought kept creeping back into her mind - what if she was pregnant?
Her heart raced at the thought. If it were true, she had no idea what she would do.
Cecily fell asleep cuddling her warm little ones, while someone else found it hard to sleep.
Smoke wafted from the study, thick enough to obscure the air.
What had he done wrong? Just as things were starting to improve between them, Cecily had turned cold again. He must have done something wrong.
Was it because he hadn't told her about last night, and she was still upset about it? Was that why she was avoiding him?
Darian stubbed out his cigarette and stood up, walking out decisively.
He went to the kids' room and saw Cecily sleeping peacefully between them. Darian's heart stirred slightly as he carefully moved the two children aside and carried Cecily away.
He had been careful, but even so, when he laid Cecily on the bed, she woke up.
In the darkness, Cecily's heart raced as she met Darian's dark gaze. "Darian?"
Seeing her awake, Darian pursed his lips. "Sorry for waking you."
Cecily sat up abruptly, ready to run. "Why did you bring me here? Let me go back."
Darian grabbed her ankle firmly, pulling her back to him.
Cecily was pulled into Darian's arms, her hands resting on his chest. Despite the dimly lit room, the moonlight streamed in through the window, casting a soft glow on their faces.
Darian held her close, not letting her escape. "Have I done something to upset you?"
Cecily pursed her lips. "No."
"Then why are you avoiding me?"
Avoiding his gaze, Cecily said, "Let go of me first."
"I won't release my grip until you disclose what I've done wrong. I'll make amends. Otherwise, I'll lose sleep once more. You helped cure my insomnia, and I don't want it to return."
His voice was low and magnetic, causing Cecily to feel flustered.
"What?"
Cecily took a deep breath and turned to him. "We... we didn't use protection that night!"
Cecily blushed deeply, and Darian's eyes darkened slightly. "So?"
"I'm afraid I might get pregnant!" Cecily said softly.
Darian understood. She was hesitant to engage in sexual activity with him again, not desiring to conceive another child with him.
