Chapter 509 What Are You Suspecting?
Just as Freya opened her mouth to scream, the two strong bodyguards behind Darian immediately covered her mouth and dragged her into the car.
Freya struggled hard, screaming. Unfortunately, it was all in vain.
The two bodyguards at the gate were stunned by the scene and couldn't help but look at Darian.
Darian's expression remained composed. He slowly glanced over, and under his intense gaze, the two bodyguards instantly lowered their heads.
"Ghost, Josep, there's really a ghost. She was at the gate, just staring at me. Josep, is Jennifer coming to find me again? Is she coming to find me again?" Olivia kept muttering to Josep.
Josep's annoyance quickly turned into unease as he looked up, his eyes flickering with guilt. The figure standing at the gate was not an ethereal ghost; it was unmistakably a menacing demon!
Darian stood tall and straight at the gate, his handsome face as cold as ever.
Seeing Darian return, Josep was obviously a bit flustered. After the kidnapping a few days ago, he had been on edge, fearing that Darian would find out something and come after him.
"Darian? Why are you back today?" he asked.
"What? I can't come back? Isn't this my home?"
Darian's question rendered Josep speechless, but Josep quickly reacted and waved his hand, saying, "No, that's not what I meant. It's just that you rarely come back, so I asked. Of course, you can come back. This is your home too. Come in."
Darian nodded slightly and followed Josep inside.
"Josep, don't go. There's really a ghost. I saw her. Her hair was disheveled, her face was pale, and she was wearing a nurse's uniform. She was so scary."
Olivia clung tightly to Josep's arm, her feet shuffling in panic as she kept pointing towards the gate.
Josep had completely lost his patience with Olivia. Ever since she claimed to have seen Jennifer come back to find her in the room, Olivia had been acting crazy, constantly saying she saw ghosts. Josep had gotten used to it and didn't take it seriously at all.
"What are you doing there? Take her back to her room to rest," Josep scolded the servants.
Two servants quickly stepped forward to drag Olivia away.
Hearing that she was being taken back to her room, Olivia became agitated again. She had been haunted by Jennifer in the room before and didn't want to go back alone.
"Josep, believe me, I really saw a ghost. She was just standing there, calling me. I don't want to go back to my room. Let go of me."
Olivia struggled hard, and Josep shouted at the servants, "Can't you even take one person back? Useless!"
The two servants tried to forcefully take Olivia back, but Aurelia hurriedly ran over and pushed away the two servants who scared Olivia. "What are you doing? Let her go."
Olivia quickly hid behind Aurelia, saying aggrievedly, "Aurelia, I saw the ghost again. I'm scared. She was really just standing there, calling me."
"Mom, it's all an illusion. There's no ghost." Aurelia comforted her.
"There really was. I saw her," Olivia insisted. "The ghost's face was so pale, and she called me Aunt Olivia."
"Called you Aunt Olivia?" Aurelia thought of how Freya usually called her Aunt Olivia. "Mom, could it be that you saw Freya?"
Inside Darian's car, there was a sound of a collision. Freya knew this was her last chance, so she struggled desperately, trying to attract attention.
Josep heard the sound and immediately squinted his eyes towards Darian's car. "Darian, what's that noise in your car?"
Remaining calm,, Darian raised an eyebrow slightly. "Noise? You must have misheard."
Josep looked at Darian suspiciously.
Darian's eyes were deep. "What are you suspecting? Do you think I have someone hidden in my car? Why don't you check it yourself?"
As he spoke, Darian stepped aside, allowing Josep to check.
Josep glanced back and forth between Darian and his car, finally shaking his head with a laugh. "Maybe I misheard."
Darian said nothing. Josep then looked at the bodyguards at the gate. "Did you see anyone come just now?"
The bodyguards glanced at Darian and quickly replied, "No."
The bodyguards didn't want to cause trouble, so this was the most reasonable answer.
Hearing the unified response from the bodyguards, Josep stopped suspecting anything. Olivia was still shouting about the ghost, and Josep angrily yelled, "Stop shouting! Are you crazy?"
Seeing Josep really angry, the servants and Aurelia didn't dare delay and immediately took Olivia away.
Josep and Darian went straight to the living room.
In the living room, Percy was also there. When Percy saw Darian, his brow twitched.
Just as Percy was about to speak, Darian's cold voice rang out, "Mr. Lockwood, how do you still have the time to stay here? Have you found Evander?"
Percy had been searching everywhere for Evander recently. Evander was a public figure, and news of his disappearance had spread everywhere.
Percy's face changed slightly. "Evander hasn't been found yet. Our family's resources are limited, so I came to ask the Fitzgerald family for help."
Darian sat on the sofa. "Is that so? In that case, why don't you tell us how he disappeared, so we can see if we can help."
Josep's eyes shifted, and he agreed, "That's what I said too. Not finding someone is the most worrying. Our family will definitely help if we can."
Percy sighed. "Evander disappeared on the day your fiancée Freya was kidnapped. We all saw the news online that day. Evander originally wanted to call Cecily to check on her, but Cecily's phone was unreachable. Evander was worried something might have happened to Cecily, so he went out to look for her and never came back."
Darian raised an eyebrow slightly but said nothing.
Josep immediately followed Percy's words and asked Darian, "Darian, did anything happen when you went to rescue Freya that day?"
"Yes, someone used Freya and Cecily to threaten me," Darian said lightly, his gaze shifting to Josep.
Josep felt a chill under Darian's dark, deep eyes. "I see. And then? Did you see Evander?"
Darian's expression remained unchanged as he said nonchalantly, "No, I rescued the people I needed to rescue and left. The rest had nothing to do with me."
Darian's indifferent tone revealed no hint of concern.
These words resonated with his character, as Josep had always been characterized by his cold and indifferent demeanor. He had a knack for staying out of matters that didn't concern him, and he rarely spared a second glance to individuals he didn't hold any interest in.
Josep nodded, not doubting these words.
Darian's eyes half-closed, he asked coldly, "Why don't you ask if I found anything?"
Josep paused, his heart pounding with tension as he forced himself to calm down. "As long as you're safe, that's what matters. Whether you found anything is secondary. But since you mentioned it, did you find anything?"
Darian said coldly, "Freya was seriously injured. After rescuing her, I left. But the people I left behind to deal with the kidnappers reported back..."
Darian paused, and Josep's breathing became much lighter. "Reported what?"
