Chapter 423 Don't Blame Me for Not Being Polite

"Always saying you can't go on living, but I don't see you actually dying," Vivienne sneered, glaring at Jennifer.

"Vivienne! Are you trying to push me to my death?" Jennifer's voice was sharp. "My daughter saved your grandson, and this is how you repay us?"

Vivienne stepped forward, yanked Jennifer out of Bryan's arms, and said, "Your daughter saved our family's child, the whole world knows it. We've said we'll repay you and settle the accounts. What more do you want?"

"Repay? That's easy to say. If Freya had died, how would you repay us?" Jennifer asked Vivienne, her heart aching.

Vivienne tightened her grip on Jennifer's arm, leaned in, and lowered her voice. "If Freya had died, I would give you my life. But if I discover you orchestrated any harm against my daughter, I will not hesitate to seek retribution in kind"

Jennifer's pupils contracted, and she struggled in Vivienne's grip. "I told you we didn't do it. I have no idea what you're talking about."

"You know the truth, as do I. The evidence will speak for itself."

A flash of panic crossed Jennifer's eyes. "You..."

Vivienne's face remained calm. "You know I can do it. If you can hire someone to kill my daughter, I can hire someone to kill you. I can hire ten times, a hundred times more people than you. I just don't stoop to that level. Otherwise, do you really think you could have done so many bad things and still played show in front of me?"

Jennifer's pupils trembled slightly, feeling a cold chill spreading through her. She looked to Bryan for help.

"Don't look at him. If I really wanted you dead, looking at him wouldn't help."

Bryan frowned deeply, looking at Jennifer's frightened eyes, but he couldn't hear what they were saying.

Vivienne let go of Jennifer, who stumbled back two steps, bent over, and leaned against the wall, gasping for breath, not daring to look Vivienne in the eye.

She knew Vivienne wasn't joking. After fighting with Vivienne for so long, Vivienne had always looked down on them and had never formally threatened her like this.

This time, they had really crossed Vivienne's bottom line.

Vivienne's gaze lightly swept over Jennifer, then she put her hands back in her pockets and glanced at Bryan.

Seeing Jennifer trembling like that, Bryan narrowed his eyes and turned to Vivienne, asking, "What did you say to her?"

"I said if Freya died, I would give her my life."

Bryan's brows tightened, and he immediately stopped her from continuing. "Don't talk nonsense here."

"What? You can't bear to lose me? I really want to know, in your eyes, who is more important—Freya and Jennifer, or me?"

Vivienne had never asked such a question before because she didn't care.

Even now, she didn't care. She just wanted to know why Bryan, who claimed to love her, could still take care of Freya and Jennifer for so many years despite knowing she dislikes them.

Was it really to make up for the regret of not having children?

"Freya is my daughter, Jennifer saved my life, and you are my wife. How can you compare them?"

"Yes, I am your wife, but you have never put me first."

Bryan glanced at Wade nearby. "Neither have you."

Vivienne smiled brightly and spread her hands. "This is our marriage. You are stubborn and obsessive, and I am ruthless and extreme. From now on, I won't mention divorce again. We'll live like this for the rest of our lives, never letting each other go."

"Cecily, let's go."

Vivienne supported Cecily and left with her.

Cecily looked at Vivienne and suddenly felt that her mother was different from before. She no longer had the previous indifference and disdain but had gained a deadly ruthlessness.

Bryan's hand, hanging by his side, clenched tightly.

For some reason, when he heard Vivienne say she wouldn't mention divorce again, he didn't feel happy at all.

He sensed Vivienne slipping away, her physical presence remaining but her heart drifting beyond his reach in this lifetime.

"Mom, what did you just say to Jennifer?"

Cecily saw Jennifer's expression at that moment, as if she had been terribly frightened.

"Nothing. Leave Jennifer to me," Vivienne stopped and looked at Cecily's slightly swollen cheek, gently reaching out to touch it. "Does it hurt?"

Cecily forced a smile. "It's okay."

"You're lying. How could it not hurt?"

Bryan must have used all his strength in his anger.

Cecily smiled lightly and hooked her arm around Vivienne's. "It hurt at first, but after a while, it doesn't hurt anymore."

Vivienne looked at Cecily, who was clearly very sad but still pretended nothing was wrong. Vivienne felt a deep pain in her heart.

In fact, the person who owed Cecily the most was her. She always claimed to love this daughter, but she had left her in the Watson family since she was a child. Later, she let her suffer Owen's revenge for so many years because of her.

And now, Jennifer and her daughter were causing her trouble again.

Vivienne gently stroked Cecily's cheek, her eyes full of guilt. "I was wrong before. I used to think Freya and Jennifer were like two clowns vying for attention. I didn't care and didn't bother to fight with them, but this time they went too far."

Vivienne's eyes turned cold. "Since that's the case, don't blame me for being impolite."
