Chapter 525 Freya's Fate in Bryan's Hands
The servant, seeing Vivienne's cold and imposing demeanor, quickly replied, "Mrs. Whitaker, Mr. Whitaker doesn't come back at night. He just comes by every day to see Miss Cruz once."
Vivienne glanced at Freya, who was standing on the stairs, trembling with fear. She had only been out for a short while when a doctor came down to remind her to go back to bed.
Freya seemed to be living a bit too comfortably.
Cecily was seriously injured and lost her child. Why could Freya be so comfortable?
"When will Bryan be back?" Vivienne asked.
"Mrs. Whitaker, I'm not sure. Mr. Whitaker's schedule is irregular," the servant replied.
Vivienne nodded and headed upstairs.
Freya immediately avoided her Vivienne ignored her and had the servant take her to Bryan's study.
She took out the paternity test report from her bag and placed it conspicuously on the desk, then walked out and told the servant, "When Bryan comes back, tell him I left something for him to see in the study."
The servant nodded. Vivienne went downstairs and left.
Freya, hiding in an inconspicuous corner, could see Vivienne's every move. As soon as Vivienne left, she immediately went into Bryan's study and picked up the manila envelope.
The servant tried to stop Freya, saying, "Miss Cruz, this is something Mrs. Whitaker left for Mr. Whitaker. It's not appropriate for you to open it."
Freya angrily pushed the servant away. "Get out, and when my dad comes back, don't you dare say a word in front of him, got it?"
Given a desire to avoid further complications, the servant left.
As Vivienne was leaving, she ran into Sam at the door. Sam was a bit surprised to see her. "Mrs. Whitaker, what brings you here?"
"I came to see Bryan, but he's not here," Vivienne replied, looking at Sam. "Where is he?"
"Something is going on at Riverview, and Mr. Whitaker went to handle it. It should be resolved soon, and he should be back by tonight."
Vivienne's intense gaze fixed on Sam, making him a bit uneasy. "Mrs. Whitaker, is there something else you need?"
"Sam, how have I treated you?"
"You've always been very good to everyone."
"Then can you do me a favor?"
Sam knew Vivienne wouldn't ask such a question for no reason. As long as it wasn't something illegal, he would do it. "Go ahead," he said.
Vivienne lowered her voice and spoke to Sam, who looked shocked, "Mrs. Whitaker, Freya is a lunatic now. She could do anything, and this would put Miss Watson in danger. It's not worth the risk."
"I won't let Cecily be in danger. If you're willing to help, just do as I say. If not, I can find another way," Vivienne said.
Sam hesitated. "If Mr. Whitaker finds out about your plan, he'll be angry with you."
"We've come this situation. Do you think I'm afraid of him being angry?" Vivienne laughed self-deprecatingly.
She was dying anyway, so she might as well take care of all the dirty work.
Before she died, she had to clean up these troublesome people for Cecily.
Sam thought it over but didn't make a decision. Vivienne didn't press him, saying, "I understand if you don't want to help. I won't force you. I can find another way."
With that, Vivienne left.
Watching her leave, Sam parted his lips and finally called out, "Mrs. Whitaker, I'll help you."
Vivienne stopped and looked back at Sam. "Are you sure?" she asked.
"It's just a matter of saying a word." Under Vivienne's gaze, Sam continued, "Miss Watson has indeed suffered too much. It's only right for me to help."
"Thank you," Vivienne replied.
Meanwhile, in the study, Freya opened the manila envelope.
Seeing the words "paternity test report," Freya felt a sudden rigidity course through her body.
She hurriedly flipped to the last page.
Seeing the names and the results, Freya stood there, stunned.
Cecily was indeed Bryan's biological daughter!
Although Olivia and Aurelia had hinted at it before, seeing the paternity test report made Freya's heart tighten.
She couldn't imagine what would happen if this paternity test reached Bryan.
Freya, both terrified and relieved that she had found it early, kept the report.
What should she do next?
She absolutely couldn't let Bryan know that Cecily was his biological daughter, nor could she allow Cecily to take her father away.
Freya's mind was racing.
She couldn't just do nothing. Otherwise, when Vivienne found Bryan again, she would be finished.
But what could she do if she went out? She couldn't stop Vivienne from finding Bryan.
She was still on a dead-end path with no way out.
Freya suddenly felt utterly desperate.
She had put up with so much, while Cecily just sailed through life and even got to meet her real father soon. How was that fair?
No, even if she died, she couldn't let Cecily benefit.
Freya's eyes were filled with craziness and sharp ruthlessness, "Cecily, if you ruin me, you won't live either."
She tore the paternity test report into pieces until the paper was shredded and the contents were unrecognizable. Only then did she feel satisfied.
Looking around the room, she knew she had to find a way to get out.
At that moment, everything she did in the room was seen by Sam.
Vivienne got into her car and took out her phone to contact Darian. After hearing what Vivienne had to say, Darian only replied, "Freya can't die for now."
Vivienne coldly responded, "It is up to Bryan."
She knew the paternity test report wouldn't reach Bryan, but that was fine. Her goal was to drive Freya mad with anxiety.
At lunchtime, in Cecily's ward, a round table was set, and the two of them were quietly eating.
Darian noticed the flowers and gifts placed in the corner of the room and squinted his eyes. "Did you have visitors this morning?"
Cecily didn't intend to hide it. "It was Percy and Karen."
Darian asked, "What did they say?"
"The same as last time."
Percy said he had come to see her, but his words were probing to see if she was willing to marry Evander, and there was nothing else.
After a moment of silence, Darian picked up a piece of shrimp from his bowl and brought it to Cecily's mouth." You've only had a little oatmeal. You need more nutrition. Just eat it."
"Aren't you going to ask if I agreed with Percy?"
"Haven't you already decided?"
Cecily could tell that Darian was speaking through gritted teeth. He hadn't smiled once since he sat down today.
Cecily glanced at Darian and then ate the shrimp, followed by a few more bites of bread.
Maybe it was because of her sour mood, but Cecily didn't have much of an appetite today.
After the meal, Darian wanted to carry Cecily back to bed.
There were two knocks at the door, and Cecily frowned. "Who is it?"
"Cecily, it's me and Evander." It was Karen's voice.
Cecily clearly felt the arms holding her tighten, and Darian's eyes darkened with emotions he couldn't suppress.
If Karen found Darian here, all their previous efforts to hide would be in vain.
Cecily whispered to Darian, "You need to hide."
"You want me to hide?" Darian was even more displeased.
Whose brilliant idea was it that now he had to sneak around just to see Cecily, like they were having an affair?
"Cecily?"
There were another two knocks on the door.
Darian was irritated, and he unceremoniously lowered his head, his hot lips covering hers.
Cecily pushed Darian hard a few times. "Are you crazy? We'll be discovered."
"My wife is about to become someone else's, and you won't let me go crazy? So what if we're discovered? At least then you won't become someone else's wife."Darian was angry.
His lips pressed against hers again, and Cecily had no strength to resist.
The people outside, not hearing any response, were getting anxious.
"Cecily, we're coming in."
Cecily pushed Darian away forcefully, gasping for breath, "Darian, listen to me. Don't act on impulse. Think about Owen still being unconscious, think about Sandra, and Patrick's death. We need to get evidence of Josep's crimes from Percy to bring him to justice, and think about our baby."
Tears welled up in Cecily's eyes.
Darian's brow furrowed tightly. As the door was pushed open, he carried Cecily into the bathroom and closed the door.
Cecily was set down, and the tears in her eyes made Darian's heart ache.
Darian was filled with frustration, but he was angry at himself.
If he could protect her more and let her suffer less, she wouldn't have so many concerns and so much hatred, and they wouldn't have come to this point.
Darian lowered his head to rest against Cecily's forehead and whispered, "Cecily can only be Darian's wife."
