Chapter 440 Come With Me to Get a Blood Sample
Bryan looked grim, and the tension was thick.
Olivia stormed over and slapped Aurelia twice. "Aurelia, I shouldn't have brought you. What are you saying? This isn't the time with Freya like this. Apologize now."
Aurelia's eyes welled up. "Freya, I'm sorry. I didn't know you didn't know. I was just trying to comfort you."
Freya was clueless about what was going on.
But their faces told her something was wrong.
After scolding Aurelia, Olivia wiped her tears and approached Freya. She gently patted Freya's shoulder. "Freya, we intended to spare you this pain, but your inquiry demands honesty. Brace yourself for a grave revelation."
Freya clenched her fists, her lips trembling. "what the hell is going on?"
Olivia, tears streaming, said, "Your mom... she jumped off a building last night. The police think it might be murder."
Freya froze, her face going pale.
"You said, what?"
"Freya."
"Say it again."
"Freya..."
"I said, say it again!" Freya shouted, her eyes red, staring at Olivia.
Olivia was taken aback.
Bryan took a deep breath. He knew Freya couldn't handle this, but she had to know.
Freya suddenly threw off the covers, trying to get out of bed.
"I don't believe it. I need to see my mom."
Bryan tried to stop her. "Freya, calm down."
Freya ripped at the tubes attached to her, struggling. "I don't want to hear it. I want to see my mom. Move!"
The machines started beeping, and doctors rushed in.
Bryan held Freya to keep her from hurting herself.
The doctors helped restrain her.
"Miss Cruz, calm down."
"Where's my mom? Find my mom."
"Please, find her. I'll calm down. Just find her, okay?"
Freya clung to Bryan's clothes. "Dad, this isn't true, right? Tell me they're lying."
Freya cried hysterically. Bryan, heartbroken, said, "Freya, it's true. Your mom is gone."
Freya trembled, collapsed back onto the bed, and sat there in a daze.
"This isn't true. This isn't true!"
Bryan looked at her with deep sorrow. "Freya, whether you believe it or not, your mom is gone. I'm your only family now. I'll always treat you as my daughter. No one will hurt you again."
Thinking of his own daughter, Bryan recalled what Darian had said yesterday.
Cecily was his biological daughter.
For some reason, when he thought of his daughter, Cecily's face came to mind.
Freya lay on the bed, crying in despair. Bryan's brows furrowed, his eyes full of anguish.
Josep and the others had come to deliver the news to Freya. Things were already chaotic, and they didn't mind making it worse.
"What are you doing here?"
Owen followed Cecily and Darian to the ward and saw Josep and the others inside.
Josep turned around, looking pained. "Dad, we came to check on Freya. She saved the Fitzgerald family's child and is a benefactor. With Jennifer gone, we thought we could take better care of her."
Owen knew they weren't that kind-hearted and scolded, "Stop causing trouble and go back."
Cecily glanced at Freya on the hospital bed. The doctor was re-administering her IV after the recent commotion.
Bryan stood nearby, looking worried. With Jennifer gone, Freya only had Bryan, and he was more protective than ever.
Cecily watched quietly, saying nothing.
Darian noticed the subtle emotions in Cecily's eyes. He was getting better at reading her; even the slightest expression revealed her feelings.
Darian reached out and held Cecily's hand, his warm grip silently comforting her.
Cecily looked up at Darian and gave him a faint smile.
The doctor said Freya couldn't handle more stress and asked everyone to leave.
Freya saw Cecily at the door with Darian, and it was unbearable for her.
'Why did I lose everything while Cecily remained happy?' she thought.
Freya's gaze at Cecily was filled with venom.
She took a deep breath and said, "Let Aurelia stay with me."
Bryan glanced at the doctor, who nodded. "One person can stay, but don't upset her. She needs to stay calm."
Bryan nodded. "Alright."
Aurelia said, "I'll take good care of Freya."
"Thank you." Bryan then looked at Cecily. "Come with me."
Cecily followed him, unsure of what he wanted.
"What is it?" she asked calmly.
Bryan handed her a phone. "Look at this."
Cecily hesitated before taking the phone.
"This was Jennifer's phone."
Cecily unlocked it and saw a video. It was Jennifer recording her last words on the rooftop.
In the video recording, Jennifer confessed to her crimes, exonerating Freya of any involvement. Cecily recognized Jennifer's unwavering loyalty, extending even beyond the grave. Upon reaching the video's conclusion, Cecily's eyes widened in shock. She rewound and replayed the footage, her gaze fixed intently.
A hand appeared on Jennifer's shoulder and pushed her off. Jennifer turned around, her face full of terror.
Jennifer was subjected to a forceful shove, eliciting shock from Cecily.
"Do you have anything to say?" Bryan asked coldly.
Cecily looked up. "Do you think I pushed her?"
Bryan stared at her, saying nothing.
Cecily shook her head and handed the phone back. "You saw me downstairs. If I pushed her, would I have teleported?"
"If you wanted to do this, you wouldn't need to do it yourself. If it wasn't you, it was Vivienne."
Cecily chuckled. "So you think your wife schemes behind others' backs."
"That's not what I meant."
"That's exactly what you meant."
"Regardless, this ends here. Jennifer paid for her mistakes with her life. Don't trouble Freya anymore."
Cecily looked away. "Someone is behind this, and it's not over just because you say so."
When Jennifer was contemplating jumping, she might have hesitated.
But someone pushed her, knowing she was recording her last words.
And they left the video for people to see.
Once people saw it, Cecily, who had just had a conflict with Jennifer, became the prime suspect.
"Send me a copy of the video," Cecily said.
"What do you want to do?"
"Don't you want to know who pushed Jennifer?" Cecily glanced at Bryan. "Don't forget to send it to me."
"Wait a minute."
Cecily had just taken a few steps when Bryan grabbed her.
Cecily looked down at his hand and asked coldly, "What now?"
"Come with me."
"Where to?"
"To get a blood sample."
