Chapter 569: The Person in the Video Isn't Me

'Is the wedding still on?'

Percy clenched his jaw.

He really wanted to keep going. This was all Josep's doing. To beat Josep, they had to push through.

But if the Lockwood family accepted someone like Cecily as a daughter-in-law, their rep would be trashed.

People would laugh at them.

He wasn't about to let that happen.

"After everything you've pulled, how can we keep going? You want the Lockwood family to be a joke too?" Percy snapped.

Cecily just smirked, "I thought you had more guts. Guess after all this, you're just a wimp."

Percy squinted, trying to process what Cecily just said.

Josep chuckled from the crowd. Percy glared at him and pointed, "Josep, this is all your doing, isn't it?"

Josep wasn't dumb; he wasn't about to admit anything.

The crowd, sensing some drama, and the reporters, their cameras ready, zoomed in on the two.

"What's up with these guys?"

"No clue. Why's Mr. Lockwood dragging Mr. Fitzgerald into this?"

"This is getting juicy," they whispered.

Josep sneered, "Percy, your future daughter-in-law caused a scandal. What's that got to do with me? You losing it or something?"

"Losing it? Josep, you kidnapped Cecily. She came back a wreck the next day. You gonna deny this video was your doing?" Percy shot back, pointing at the big screen.

Josep had gone too far. Percy wasn't about to back down now.

Josep hesitated. Kidnapped Cecily?

He did send people to grab her, but they failed.

He couldn't find Cecily, so he had to use Eliza, who looked just like her.

Once the video was out, everyone would think it was Cecily, and she'd be screwed.

Percy couldn't prove it wasn't Cecily, so Josep was sure the wedding was off, and both Cecily and the Lockwood family would be humiliated.

But right now, with Percy accusing him without proof, Josep wasn't admitting anything.

"Percy, stop with the wild accusations. I don't know where this video came from, and I never kidnapped Cecily. Don't drag me into your mess."

"Wild accusations? Seriously? Josep, have some decency. You did all this. No one wants to ruin this wedding more than you." Percy shouted, then turned to Cecily, "Cecily, tell me, wasn't it Josep who kidnapped you and made you do all this?"

Cecily had planned to let them duke it out, but didn't expect to get pulled in.

With everyone watching, Cecily calmly shook her head, "Uncle Percy, I have no idea what you're talking about. He didn't kidnap me."

Percy frowned hard, thinking Cecily was just too embarrassed to admit it. "Cecily, you don't have to be scared. Spill the beans about what happened when you got kidnapped. You wanna keep suffering in silence?"

"He really didn't kidnap me. And Uncle Percy, the person in the video isn't me. Did you hear that?" Cecily repeated herself, clear as day.

But the crowd wasn't buying it.

"Miss Watson, the video's out, and you're still denying it?"

"If it's not you in the video, then who is it? You think we're blind?"

"Yeah, right. You think we're all idiots? It's embarrassing, sure, but if you didn't want the shame, you shouldn't have done it. Doing it and then denying it is just gross."

Percy's forehead veins were about to pop. "Cecily, listen to them. They're not dumb. I'm trying to help you. He clearly kidnapped you. Why won't you admit it?"

"Yeah, Cecily, he totally kidnapped you. He made you do all that stuff, right?" Karen chimed in, grabbing Cecily's hand. "We're trying to help. I know it's embarrassing, and you don't want to admit it. But the video's out. You can't deny it. Admitting you were kidnapped and forced can still save the day, right?"

Percy and Karen kept pushing Cecily.

They said they wanted to help, but really, they were just saving their own skins. If they spun this as a story of coercion, they could keep the wedding on track.

If they made it look like Cecily was manipulated by Josep, they could claim she was innocent and keep the wedding going.

Sure, Cecily would lose face, but the wedding would go on, and the Lockwood family would come out looking good.

Cecily saw right through them.

"Cecily already said the person in the video isn't her." Vivienne stepped up, yanking Karen's hand off Cecily and standing in front of her.

"Do you not get it? Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood, you promised me before the wedding you'd treat Cecily right. Now, just because of some sketchy video, you doubt her. Cecily said the person in the video isn't her, and you don't believe her. You've let me down big time."

Karen was getting ticked off too. "Vivienne, we did say that, but the video's right here. How can it be fake? We don't want to believe it either, but Cecily admitted she was kidnapped that day. Now the video's out, and she denies it. What are we supposed to do?"

"Aunt Karen, I admitted I was kidnapped, but I never said it was Josep. And I also said the person in the video isn't me. You probably forgot there's someone else out there who looks just like me," Cecily shot back.
