Chapter 444 Don't Let Them Notice Yet
Olivia asked, "So, what now?"
"We don't need to do anything. The plan to use Jennifer to get rid of Cecily, Rowan, and Griffin to hit Darian and Owen has failed. Now, Owen and Darian are probably investigating, so we should lay low."
Josep glanced at Aurelia. "Aurelia, quietly inform Freya. Bryan is her only support. If she finds out Bryan is close to finding his biological daughter, she'll panic."
Aurelia grinned. "Got it, but we don't even know if Cecily is Bryan's daughter."
"Doesn't matter, as long as someone believes it."
"Understood, Dad. I'll tell Freya when I can."
Josep nodded, satisfied.
Olivia still looked worried. "Josep, will last night's incident be traced back to me?"
"The surveillance didn't catch your face, and the video was edited cleanly. You're safe."
Olivia felt relieved.
Cecily and Darian walked back to the ward and saw Vivienne with Rowan and Griffin.
"Mom, Rowan, Griffin, what are you doing here?"
"Daddy, Mommy, where were you? Grandma couldn't find you."
Rowan and Griffin ran to them with open arms.
Cecily looked at their bright eyes; they seemed fine now.
"We were just talking outside and didn't notice."
She pinched their cheeks. "Aren’t you worried about Daddy? Now that you're here, go see him."
She nudged them towards Darian.
Vivienne stood up. "Cecily, come outside with me."
Cecily, puzzled, followed her. She noticed Aurelie smirking, which confused her more.
"What's up, Mom?"
"Did you meet Bryan alone?"
Vivienne had heard Jennifer didn't commit suicide and was worried Bryan might trouble Cecily.
Cecily nodded. "Don't worry, Mom. He just asked about some things he suspected. I didn't do it, so I have nothing to hide. He also showed me a video."
"What video?"
Cecily took out her phone and showed the video to Vivienne. At the end, Vivienne saw a hand pushing Jennifer's shoulder. It was dark, but the hand was visible—a woman's hand.
"Who do you think it is?" Vivienne asked, handing the phone back.
"The public doesn't know, but we can guess. Jennifer had no enemies here. If it wasn't us, it must be someone framing us."
Cecily had some ideas when Bryan showed her the video, but without proof, she couldn't tell him.
Vivienne had guessed too. "It's a shame the video only shows a hand."
Cecily watched the video again. "Not necessarily. Jennifer was holding the phone facing herself and noticed someone behind her. The person should have been captured, but there's nothing."
"You think the video was edited?"
Cecily nodded. "It's possible."
"Easy to check. Give it to a professional. The question is if it can be restored."
Cecily agreed. "Let's check it."
She put away her phone and started walking back. Vivienne thought for a moment and pulled her back.
"Mom, something else?"
Vivienne pursed her lips, unsure how to say it.
Cecily rarely saw her mom so hesitant. "Mom, just say it."
Vivienne cleared her throat. "Next time you and Darian want to be intimate, find a less crowded place. The hospital isn't the best spot."
Cecily choked, her face turning red. "Mom!"
Embarrassed, she then quickly nodded. "Got it, Mom. I'll be more careful."
Vivienne patted her arm. "Alright, go on in."
In the afternoon, Freya's comments to reporters made the online buzz about the incident explode. People were now convinced Cecily and Vivienne pushed Jennifer and staged it as a suicide. Online detectives analyzed and discussed, presenting "evidence" and sympathizing with Freya.
Despite the chaos outside, Cecily and her family were comfortable in the ward. Cecily scrolled through the comments, expressionless.
Darian, handling documents next to her, glanced at her phone and took it away. "Reading too much will put you in a bad mood. These comments will disappear soon."
Cecily's eyes lit up. "You have a solution?"
Darian made a call, saying to bring someone over, then hung up.
"Who are you bringing over?"
"You'll see."
Soon, Larkin brought in a few people. "Boss, they're all here."
"Good."
Cecily looked at them. "Are you reporters?"
They nodded. "Yes."
Cecily turned to Darian. "Why did you bring them here?"
Darian scanned the reporters. "Tell us what you did."
One reporter quickly said, "Mr. Fitzgerald, we’re sorry. Please forgive us. The articles and videos targeting Miss Watson were arranged by someone. We didn't want to do it."
"Who arranged it?" Darian asked coldly.
The reporters hesitated, then said, "We don't know him. He gave us cash to stay at the hospital and arranged interviews. The questions were sent by him, mostly targeting Miss Watson. We don't know his name."
Darian glanced at Larkin, who showed a photo of Josep to the reporters. "Is this the person?"
They shook their heads. "No."
Larkin showed another photo. This time, they pointed. "This is the guy who gave us the cash."
Cecily looked at the photo. "Who is this? I haven't seen him before."
Darian said calmly, "He's one of Josep's men."
Cecily nodded, recalling her suspicions. "So it was him."
"Take them out and don't let them notice anything," Darian instructed Larkin.
