Chapter374 He Must Be Heartbroken

With Jennifer's praise, Freya automatically tuned out the whispers around her, her smile growing even more radiant. ‘That's right. I’m the most beautiful, and they are all envious of me.’

Freya immediately spotted Darian not far away. Her eyes sparkled as she looked at his tall, handsome figure, and her cheeks flushed. "Mom, Darian is over there. I'm going over."

"Go ahead. Remember what I said, be confident. You are the most beautiful, and Darian will surely fall for you." Jennifer kept encouraging Freya.

Their whispered conversation, tinged with excitement, was not quiet, and Cecily could hear it.

She glanced at them in confusion. She hadn't seen Jennifer and Freya's faces before, but just by their voices, she had a vague idea of who they were.

Just as Cecily was about to leave them be and head towards Darian, Jennifer seemed to catch on to her intention. She stepped forward and grabbed her arm. "Cecily? Your eyes are healed, and you're back in Silver Frost Capital? Are you here for the birthday party too?"

Taking advantage of the moment, Freya, in her high heels, strode towards Darian. "Darian."

Cecily furrowed her brows slightly and nodded briefly, not in the mood to talk much.

Turning her head, she saw Freya walk up to Darian and enthusiastically link her arm with his. "Darian, so you were here. I was just waiting for you outside."

Cecily's brows knitted tighter.

Rowan and Griffin's cool little faces instantly turned indignant.

Someone was publicly flirting with their daddy! And their daddy wasn't pushing her away!

Their daddy was a scoundrel! He had clearly seen them but pretended not to recognize them. Was he trying to flirt with a pretty woman?

"Brother, let's go." Rowan, though sometimes less active than Griffin, was smart and immediately understood Griffin's intention.

They spread their little arms and ran towards Darian, shouting at the top of their lungs. "Daddy!"

"Daddy."

"Daddy, Daddy, Daddy..." They called out as they ran, hugging Darian's legs, their little mouths repeating "Daddy" like a broken record, making sure everyone could hear.

Darian glanced at Freya, who was clinging to his arm, his long brows furrowing. Just as he was about to speak, his legs were suddenly hugged by the children who had rushed forward.

Before anyone could react, Cecily naturally stepped forward, pulling away the woman pressing her chest against Darian's arm, and looked at Darian with a forced smile. "Husband, what are you doing?"

Cecily was a bit angry at this moment. Darian hadn't pushed Freya away.

Darian's eyes narrowed sharply, staring deeply at Cecily, his brows furrowing even more.

Facing Darian's tense and cold expression, Cecily's confusion deepened.

"What's wrong with you?" Cecily blinked. ‘What was going on? Is he pretending not to recognize me?’

"You've got the wrong person. I'm not your husband." His tone was cold and distant, his handsome face tense, and his brows already showing signs of anger. He raised his hand and unhesitatingly pushed Cecily's hand away.

Cecily's hand fell away unexpectedly. Completely baffled by his actions, she stood frozen.

Hayden and Declan, witnessing this dramatic scene, had already covered their faces with their hands, their minds filled with a single thought—this was a disaster!

Realizing what had happened, Cecily looked at Darian in astonishment, only to see him push away the two children clinging to him as well, his deep eyes utterly devoid of emotion.

‘What does this mean? Is he throwing a tantrum? Is he upset because I left with the children a year ago, and this is his way of showing it? Impossible.’ Cecily immediately dismissed this thought.

Even if Darian was angry with her, he wouldn't abandon their children.

Cecily maintained her composure. "Darian, what's wrong with you?"

Darian's gaze fell on Cecily's delicate face, his brow half-raised, his deep voice tinged with impatience. "Miss, do we know each other?"

Many women had tried to get close to him, but a woman bringing children was a first.

Darian shook his head with a cold smile, utterly speechless.

Cecily's mouth twitched. "You really don't recognize me."

"I have never known you," Darian's voice was terrifyingly deep.

Cecily pulled Rowan and Griffin closer. "You don't know me? Fine. But your sons, you don't recognize them either?"

"I have no sons!"

Cecily almost choked on her own breath at Darian's words. "Are you playing an amnesia game with me? Do I need to show you a paternity test?"

Darian gave Cecily a cold glance. "Not interested."

Seeing Darian like this, Cecily realized something was wrong. She glanced sideways at Hayden and Declan.

They clasped their hands together and bowed to Cecily, their expressions saying, "We'll explain later."

Cecily took a deep breath, suppressing all her emotions.

Rowan and Griffin stood there, bewildered.

Griffin pursed his little lips. "Daddy, do you really not recognize us?"

Rowan looked confused. "Daddy, I'm Rowan, and he's Griffin. We are your sons."

"You've got the wrong person." Darian withdrew his gaze from the children and coldly swept over the bewildered Cecily. He then walked away.

Cecily felt a chill as he passed by her.

The room was warm, but she felt surrounded by coldness.

Freya, seeing that Darian didn't recognize Cecily, smiled smugly. She walked up and linked her arm with Darian's. "Darian, let's go."

"Darian," Cecily couldn't help but call out to him softly. She had been looking forward to this meeting for days, never expecting such a scene.

He seemed to have forgotten her and their two children.

How could this be?

Darian's steps paused. Cecily's slightly aggrieved voice echoed softly in his ears, and for some reason, it felt like something had stabbed his heart, spreading a barely noticeable pain.

"What's going on? What happened here?"

"It seems a woman brought children to cling to Mr. Fitzgerald, but Mr. Fitzgerald doesn't know her, and she's still pestering him."

"Women these days will do anything to climb the social ladder, but bringing children along, that's a first."

Evander coldly glanced at the women mocking Cecily, and they quickly shut their mouths.

Cecily stood straight, her slender back rigid. She clenched her fists, looking at Darian's cold back. From hopeful anticipation to falling into a cold abyss, her heart ached terribly. "Do you really not remember me?"

Her voice overlapped with the voice in his dreams, and Darian unconsciously turned to look at her.

His gaze met her tear-filled eyes.

For a moment, the pain in Darian's heart became more pronounced.

Jennifer quickly signaled to Freya, who tightened her grip on Darian's arm. "Darian, I want to get some pastries. Will you come with me?"

"Darian?"

Darian pushed her hand away. "Go by yourself. Don't bother me."

With that, Darian didn't look at anyone else and walked away.

"Darian." Freya lifted her skirt and immediately chased after him.

Cecily stood there, looking lost and helpless, evoking pity from those who saw her.

But Darian didn't know, nor could he see. Otherwise, he would have been heartbroken.
