Chapter 276 Inviting Cecily to Stay at the Bennett Family
Darian took Cecily and the children back to the Fitzgerald family. Upstairs,Owen stood on the balcony, watching Darian get out of the car with Cecily.
Owen squinted his eyes. He pressed the phone to his ear, listening to Eliza's voice on the other end.
Owen's dark gaze deepened. "You have entered the Bennett family. Have you seen Vivienne?"
"Not yet."
His voice grew heavier. "What's going on?"
Eliza sighed, her voice tinged with helplessness. "She is not in the Bennett family. Several elders of the Bennett family said she has been missing for a long time and is suffering from severe depression. As for the rest..."
Eliza let out a cold laugh. "They still don't fully believe me and are unwilling to disclose more to me."
Owen kept looking outside the window, watching a few people enter the house. He continued, "Then how dare you let the Bennett family host a banquet to announce your identity? It's such a grand event. Aren't you afraid of being investigated? Darian is already looking into you, and Cecily knows your identity and will not let you off."
"Grandfather, even if I don't make a big fuss, I will still be investigated. I'm not afraid of their investigation. As for Darian, I don't understand why you don't tell him everything from back then."
Owen's face hardened. "I have my own plans, Eliza. No matter what you do in the Bennett family, you are not allowed to target anyone from the Fitzgerald family, whether it's Darian or those two children. If you dare to harm them for your own purposes, I will make you pay the price."
Owen was serious, and Eliza knew it. If Eliza dared to harm anyone from the Fitzgerald family, he would not let her off.
Eliza chuckled lightly on the other end. "I understand, Grandfather. I know what I'm doing, so rest assured."
Owen only half believed her. He knew her ruthless nature well, recalling how she had once garnered Phoenix’s sympathy to be taken in as a foster daughter.
After hanging up the phone,Owen took a deep breath and called Sawyer into the study.
Sawyer said, "Owen, what can I do for you?"
Owen thought for a moment and asked, "Did you receive the invitation for the banquet at the Bennett family?"
"Yes. Are you planning to attend?"
Owen sighed. "Let me think about it. What does Darian say?"
"We still don't know what Darian's plans are."
"Alright, I got it."Owen waved his hand. "You can go now. Keep an eye on him. If he plans to leave Stellaris Bay in the next few days, let me know."
"Yes."
Owen rubbed his temples wearily. He had a slight headache. Although Darian hadn't done anything yet, he believed that Darian and Cecily wouldn't miss this banquet.
It seemed that the banquet was going to be lively.
AsOwen expected, the next day, Darian planned to take Cecily to Stellaris Bay, their intentions clear.
Owen confronted Darian in his study. Looking at his grandson, who had repeatedly defied him in matters concerning this woman,Owen asked in a deep voice, "Do you intend to accompany that woman to the Bennett family's banquet?"
"She has a name!" Darian's eyes darkened as he shot back.
Owen opened his mouth and held back his anger. "Fine! Cecily! You're going to accompany Cecily to Stellaris Bay?"
"What's wrong with that?" Darian asked calmly.
"How could there be nothing wrong? Are you giving up your company and your children? You have so much time to run around with her. What's gotten into you?"
"I've already taken care of the company and the children. Why are you so worked up?"
Owen glared at him, his face dark.
"Do you also know about the impostor incident?" Darian asked, looking at his grandfather.
Owen didn't deny it. "I know, and it's not surprising."
"So you know someone else is framing Cecily, yet you still won't let it go!"
Owen snorted. "So what if I know? This has gone beyond just us; everyone who's seen the news knows. Without evidence, she remains a suspect, and you can't silence the public."
"Don't worry. I will find the evidence for her," Darian said.
Owen's heart skipped a beat as he looked at Darian's determined and dominant appearance. He chuckled in exasperation. "Fine, go ahead and indulge yourself in this woman. Don't regret it later."
Darian raised an eyebrow. "Alright, I won't regret it."
Stellaris Bay.
Cecily and Darian had just gotten off the plane when the Bennett family sent someone to meet them.
Several men in uniforms of the Bennett family approached Cecily, bowing respectfully. "Mrs.Watson, Mr. Evan has sent us to pick you up."
Cecily glanced at the car behind them. "We can go to the hotel on our own. You don't have to trouble yourselves."
The man smiled and said, "Mrs.Watson, the accommodations Mr. Evan has arranged for you are not at a hotel but at the Bennett family."
Cecily and Darian exchanged a glance, and Cecily smirked.
Evan was indeed setting up an interesting show by having her stay with the Bennett family at this time.
"Please, Mrs.Watson." The man gestured politely.
Since they would meet sooner or later, it didn't make much difference whether she stayed at a hotel or the Bennett family.
Cecily didn't say anything.
However, Darian had already arranged for Larkin to prepare a car in advance, so they didn't get into the Bennett family's car.
Cecily followed Darian into the car, watching the scenery outside rapidly retreat. She rubbed her temples and pursed her lips.
Darian had been busy arranging work on his phone before getting into the car. He even took two calls in different languages. He was indeed busy, but he was still willing to take the time to accompany her, which touched Cecily.
