Chapter 619: "He's dead? Doesn't that make her a widow?"

"Ms. Lewis, Mr. Stanley Kensington's here. Says he's here to apologize for Mr. Nathaniel Kensington," the servant announced, stepping into the room.

Lillian scoffed, "Apologize? Do they really think a few sorrys can fix all the crap I've been through these past few days?"

"Don't be so mad. Nathaniel did mess up, which is why I'm here to apologize on behalf of the Kensington family," Stanley said, strolling in with a grin like he just won the lottery.

Lillian didn't even try to hide her disdain. "An apology? Seriously? Can it undo all the crap I've been through? Get out! I don't wanna see anyone from the Kensington family right now."

She pointed furiously at the door, but Stanley just plopped down on the sofa. "Nathaniel might already be dead."

Lillian felt like she'd been punched in the gut. "What did you just say?"

"I said Nathaniel might be dead," Stanley repeated.

He'd heard Nathaniel had signed some life-and-death deal with Todd. To protect that Aurelie chick, he was willing to risk it all. Even though he didn't die right there, he got messed up pretty bad. The guys who fought him said he was in rough shape when he left. Odds were, he didn't make it.

Plus, he'd been MIA for days, so he was probably toast.

"So, what, I'm a widow now?" Lillian's eyes went wide, her face a mix of shock and disbelief.

"Maybe," Stanley smirked.

Lillian's heart sank like a stone.

She'd just gotten hitched, and now she was a widow?

"Are you happy now? What you said at the wedding came true. I came here to apologize and to congratulate you," Stanley said with a grin.

At the wedding, Lillian had cursed Nathaniel to die and never come back, and now it looked like it had actually happened.

Lillian's eyes turned icy as she glared at Stanley. "Congratulations? Why did he have to die after marrying me?"

She couldn't feel happy at all. The stuff she said at the wedding was just out of anger; she never really wanted him dead.

Now that he was gone, what was she supposed to do?

Becoming a widow just a week after getting married? How messed up was that?

She was already a laughingstock. She'd finally tied the knot, and now, just over a week later, she was a widow!

'Damn Nathaniel, if he was gonna die, couldn't he have died sooner? Why wait until after marrying me?'

"How did he die?" Lillian asked, fists clenched, trying to keep her anger in check.

"For Aurelie. Last time, he messed up the casino owner's guys for her, and now they got their revenge. Simple as that," Stanley said, clearly enjoying himself.

Nathaniel's death was a relief for Stanley. Ever since Nathaniel got out of prison, Stanley had been paranoid he'd come for revenge. Now, with Nathaniel dead over some woman, Stanley could finally relax.

In a few days, the Kensington Group's shareholders' meeting would be held, and Terry planned to officially announce Stanley as the heir, giving him full control.

With all the threats outta the way and getting what he wanted, Stanley was naturally on cloud nine.

Hearing Stanley's words, Lillian took a deep breath. It was all because of Aurelie!

He loved that chick enough to die for her.

Right now, Lillian wanted to curse them both to hell and back. Her chest heaved with rage. "So, if Nathaniel's dead, what about Aurelie? Is she dead too?"

That was Lillian's biggest worry at the moment.

They both vanished together. If Nathaniel was dead, did that mean Aurelie was too?

"Nope, she's alive and kicking. With Cecily protecting her, how could she die?" Stanley replied.

Aurelie wasn't dead, but Nathaniel was!

Lillian felt a surge of anger ready to explode. She grabbed the teapot on the table and chucked it at Stanley.

"Nathaniel's gone, Aurelie's alive, and you have the nerve to congratulate me? On what? Losing my husband to another woman? Becoming a widow?" Lillian didn't think Stanley came to share happy news but to mock her like everyone else.

Stanley couldn't dodge in time and got hit hard. The water in the teapot wasn't hot, but it soaked him, making him look like a mess.

Stanley quickly stood up, brushing off the tea leaves on his clothes in disgust. He was used to being treated like royalty and had never been disrespected like this.

He never expected Lillian to go nuts and resort to violence.

"Are you insane?" Stanley frowned.

"You're the one who's insane, your whole family's insane. Get out!" Lillian shouted, pointing furiously at the door.

Stanley's face darkened. "Lunatic!"

He muttered under his breath and turned to leave.

Lillian was so mad she could hardly breathe. She clutched the sofa beside her, gasping for air.

The servant nearby wanted to help but was scared of setting her off again, so they hesitated.

Lillian slowly slid to the ground, clutching her hair, her eyes reddening.

She hated Nathaniel, but she never wanted him dead.

She just hated him for refusing to marry her because of Aurelie.

He was a guy who'd been in prison for ten years and abandoned by the Kensington family. What right did he have to refuse her, to look down on her like everyone else?

Now he dared to die for Aurelie. Why did he have to die? Why couldn't it be Aurelie who died?

Lillian couldn't hold back the jealousy and pain in her heart. She hung her head, constantly pulling at her hair.

It was all Aurelie's fault; she caused Nathaniel's death.

If it weren't for her, Nathaniel would have been fine.

Lillian's eyes grew increasingly vicious.

"Ms. Lewis, Aurelie is here," a servant said.

"What did you say?" Lillian's head snapped up at the mention of Aurelie's name, her bloodshot eyes glaring at the servant.

The servant was startled by her look and stammered, "Aurelie is here, right at the door, along with her friend Cecily."

"She dares to come? Let her in!" Lillian shouted.

Nathaniel had just died, and Aurelie was here. What did she want? To flaunt that her husband, Nathaniel, had died for her?
