Chapter 260 First meeting
After a few hours on the private plane, they arrived successfully at The Silverwood. Looking at the magnificent building in front of her, Cecily knew that The Silverwood was no less prestigious than the Fitzgerald Family.
"Miss, please," Desmond said, making a polite gesture.
Cecily followed them inside. The surroundings here were spacious, with many staff members working. Two tall family guards stood at the entrance, pushing open the heavy double doors for them. As they walked in, Cecily noticed that the interior decoration was not as extravagant as she had imagined. Instead, it was simple and serious, resembling a conference room in a government building, exuding an indescribable sense of solemnity.
"Miss, please rest for a while. The Silverwood is not solely under my management. Mr. Harrison and Mr. Montgomery will return shortly, and we will have some questions for you afterward," Desmond said.
Cecily nodded and asked, "Can I see Vivienne first?"
Before Cecily finished speaking, someone rushed in and whispered something into Desmond's ear. His expression changed immediately.
"How is that possible?" Desmond exclaimed.
Desmond furrowed his brow and turned to Cecily, his gaze immediately becoming stern and inquisitive, lingering for a few seconds.
He waved his hand at the person who had reported to him, saying, "Understood."
The person backed away, and Cecily noticed that Desmond's expression was off. She asked, "Mr. Desmond, what's happened?"
Desmond paused momentarily as if contemplating something and then said, "Please wait a moment. We'll discuss everything once everyone is present."
Seeing Desmond's expression, Cecily nodded.
After waiting for about half an hour, there was a commotion outside the door. Soon, the ornate door was pushed open, and Cecily saw several people walking in.
Leading the way were two middle-aged men with an imposing demeanor. Judging by the respect others showed them, their status in this household was certainly high.
As Cecily looked at them, they also looked at her, their eyes filled with surprise.
Cecily pursed her lips and squinted her eyes, looking behind them where another person was.
When Cecily caught sight of that person's face, her gaze suddenly shrank.
It was her!
The Cecily who looked exactly like her!
Cecily noticed her gaze, and the other woman also looked at her eyes. What kind of gaze was that?
It seemed to carry a smile, looking gentle and kind. But that smile was clearly filled with malice and provocation if you looked closely.
With just a brief glance, that sense of foreboding overwhelmed Cecily's heart.
This woman, who looked exactly like her, seemed not to care at all about being seen with such an evil and provocative gaze. She only withdrew her gaze and returned to a gentle, indifferent look once she stood still.
Cecily knitted her brows.
It was too similar, simply identical. Their expressions and mannerisms were too much like hers.
Cecily averted her gaze.
The fact that she dared to be so brazenly provocative indicated her absolute confidence in playing this role as Cecily.
Now Cecily understood the line, "She wants to replace you, to take your place entirely, you who are as rich as a country."
If she really was Miss Silverwood, then everything lined up.
Cecily's eyes narrowed with determination. The fact that she dared to appear in such a bold manner proves that she not only knew all of this beforehand but also made thorough preparations.
Today's situation was certainly not as simple as it seemed at the moment.
She was well prepared, while Cecily had only just found out today. The current situation was not entirely in favor of Cecily.
Desmond's gaze shifted between the two identical people, and then he exchanged a glance with Mr. Harrison and Mr. Montgomery. The expressions on all three of their faces were grim.
Among the two identical-looking individuals, there was definitely one who was fake.
They were completely unprepared for this kind of situation.
Carefully observing the two of them, Eliza noticed that they were almost identical, besides a slight difference in height.
Even twin sisters would not be this similar.
Eliza looked at Cecily and spoke first, "Who are you?"
Cecily's voice was cold, "I should be the one asking you that question."
Eliza calmly responded, "Let me introduce myself. My last name is Watson, and my first name is Cecily. May I know how the imposter should address herself?"
Cecily, surprised by Eliza's introduction, found it amusing. "What a coincidence. My name is Cecily. The real Cecily."
Eliza raised an eyebrow, a hint of astonishment appearing on her exquisite face. "Well, that's interesting."
She took a step and circled around Cecily, staring at her unabashedly. "I'm curious. How did you manage to look exactly like me?"
Cecily squinted her eyes. "Everything you said is my dialogue."
Both of them stared at each other, equally poised in their demeanor.
Desmond, Mr. Harrison, and Mr. Montgomery watched this scene unfold, exchanging puzzled glances.
Desmond looked at the two, and his tone became stern. "Who among you is impersonating the other? I suggest you come forward now. If you do, you can leave on your own. Otherwise, if we find out, The Silverwood will not be lenient toward imposters."
Upon hearing Desmond's words, Eliza remained expressionless, displaying confidence without any signs of fear.
And Cecily, of course, showed no fear at all.
Just at that moment, Eliza spoke up. "Desmond, Mr. Harrison, and Mr. Montgomery, on our way here. Mr. Harrison already informed me. I am the person you are looking for. I am Cecily. I am the daughter of my mother, Vivienne, from the Watson Family. As for this person, I have no idea where she came from. She wants to impersonate me. Miss, I advise you to leave on your own. The fake can never be real."
Cecily squinted her eyes and nodded. "You're right. The fake can never be real."
Eliza caught the warning in Cecily's statement, and the corner of her eyes curled up, revealing a subtle, elusive smile.
If the fake can never be real, then by getting rid of the real one, wouldn't she become the real one?
"At the moment, it seems difficult to distinguish between us. How about you summon Vivienne, and we conduct a paternity test?"
Eliza willingly proposed that she had previously taken a small tube of blood from Cecily, so the DNA test did not scare her at all.
Although a scenario where both of them were biological daughters appeared, Eliza had stronger evidence to prove that she was Cecily.
Upon hearing this, Desmond furrowed his brow in distress.
Desmond weighed heavily, "I'm afraid neither of you will be able to see Vivienne for the time being because we currently don't know where she is. She has been missing for many years."
Cecily's originally hopeful heart sank again. "What?"
She paused, "Did she say anything before she left?"
"Not really. She had been suffering from severe depression and was unable to communicate with us normally before her departure. We only knew that she had a daughter in Watson's Family, but when we went to find her, we couldn't locate her. It was only after seeing the news online and your resemblance to her that we recognized you," Desmond explained.
Desmond's words contained a lot of information, and Cecily's eyes darkened. She quickly understood that this person was framing her, and the purpose was to make The Silverwood people discover her face and come to her.
Upon hearing these words, Eliza's expression also unconsciously turned cold. So she had put in so much effort, yet still couldn't find Vivienne?!
Severe depression, which meant that she might not even be in this world!
Eliza sneered inwardly, "Why did she get depression?"
Desmond glanced at the two of them, "I can't disclose that information."
After all, he still didn't know who was real and who was fake. Revealing more information would involve Vivienne's secrets, which couldn't be told to outsiders.
Eliza did not inquire further, but her hand silently tightened, hanging by her side.
"Since the mother is not here, if I have an item left behind by her, can it prove that I am the true Cecily?" Eliza looked at Desmond, Mr. Harrison, and Mr. Montgomery and asked.
"Is the item you're referring to a crystal pendant?"
Eliza nodded, "Exactly."
