Chapter 288 The True Identity of the Fake Cecily

As Sandra waited for the elevator, she kept glancing back, gripping her phone and muttering anxiously, "Pick up the phone. Please pick up."

Seeing Eliza approaching, Sandra sensed that the situation was getting dangerous.

On Darian's side, Cecily thought about it and decided not to bring the two children to the Bennett family. Fearing the banquet might get chaotic, she was concerned about their safety.

After settling the two children in the hotel, the two of them left. Cecily was not wearing the dress Caleb had sent.

She did have a dress prepared, and Darian also had someone prepare it for her. As for why she didn't choose the one Caleb sent, it was because Cecily was afraid of causing trouble.

She was afraid that wearing that dress would only lead to more trouble.

And she truly wasn't the kind of person who enjoyed causing trouble and watching the show.

At the hotel entrance, Darian had already arranged for Larkin to prepare the cars. To prevent any accidents, Darian arranged for five security cars.

As Cecily descended the stairs with her dress, she saw six cars parked in front of the hotel entrance, each with four tall and burly bodyguards in uniform standing beside them.

And in the middle car, Darian stood there in an expensive black suit, his tall and straight figure exuding a quiet elegance. Larkin was by his side, reporting something, and he listened with a slightly downward gaze, his perfect, handsome face captivating.

Cecily's eyes flickered.

Such a grand lineup made passersby unable to help but stop and look at them.

Darian noticed Cecily walking out of the hotel, and his gaze turned towards her. In an instant, she was the only one in his eyes.

Cecily was wearing a golden trailing sequin dress, with just the right amount of hollow design, outlining her perfect waistline. Under the bright lights, her exquisite features appeared even more striking.

Darian looked at her, finding it hard to avert his gaze, and he slowly walked towards her.

As he drew closer, Cecily's heart skipped a beat, overwhelmed by his inherent nobility.

Darian wrapped his arms around her waist naturally. Cecily's breath caught. At such a close distance, their features were magnified in each other's eyes until they could only see each other.

Cecily looked up, her gaze moving from Darian's chin to his pair of pitch-black eyes, which were fixed on her face, revealing an undeniable sense of amazement.

His gaze was too intense. Cecily coughed lightly and averted her eyes. "Don't look at me like that."

Darian smiled. "You look beautiful."

As he spoke, he reached out and held Cecily's hand.

His warm hand enveloped her small hand securely.

Cecily's eyelashes trembled lightly, a faint smile in her beautiful eyes.

Darian led Cecily into the car, which was warmed by the heater, cocooning her in coziness.

Just as the car started, Darian's phone rang. He squinted, then answered the call, "Mom."

"Darian, that woman who had plastic surgery might be Eliza!" Sandra managed to enter the elevator.

Eliza was about to follow, but Desmond, who was behind her, called out to her.

In order to prevent Sandra from saying anything in front of Desmond, Eliza had to let her go and watch her get on the elevator.

Eliza had already seen Sandra making a phone call.

She felt that the situation was getting out of her control.

Everything was just too bad.

Sandra quickly said to Darian, "But I can't be sure. She had an accident with your father back then, and I thought she was dead. I can't be sure if she is Eliza. You should check."

Darian's eyes darkened. "Eliza?"

Darian didn't know much about Eliza.

During the years Eliza was adopted into the Fitzgerald family, he happened to be studying abroad and only saw her occasionally when he came back.

So he wasn't familiar with the girl his parents had adopted.

"How did you recognize her?" asked Darian.

"She has a scar on her hand. I remember it very clearly. Now I saw it on the hand of that woman who had plastic surgery. She was just chasing after me. I don't know if she found something."

Sandra shuddered at the thought. This was happening at the Bennett family. Eliza was the heiress. She had a certain amount of power and it was possible that she would send someone to harm Sandra in secret.

Darian's brows furrowed deeply. "Go find a place with more people to stay. Don't be alone, and don't eat randomly. She is good at using poison. We will come over soon."

The elevator reached the ground floor, and the lobby was already filled with guests.

Sandra breathed a sigh of relief and listened to Darian's instructions. She said, "Okay, I understand. I will take care of myself, and take your time getting here."

"Alright."

Cecily watched as Darian hung up the phone. The carriage was quiet, and she could also hear some of his conversation with Sandra.

Cecily was slightly puzzled. "Who is Eliza?"

She thought it must be someone from the Fitzgerald family, but Cecily had never heard of her before.

Darian's voice became heavier. "She is the adopted daughter of my father. She was presumed dead in the accident that also took my father's life when she was fifteen, but now, it seems she may have survived."

Cecily's brows furrowed. She hadn't heard any of this from Darian.

She married into the Fitzgerald family at twenty and had been living with them for three years, but no one in the family had ever mentioned these things. She only knew that Darian's father, Phoenix, had died in an accident.

Eliza.

She had just heard them say on the phone that the person who had plastic surgery to look like her might be Eliza!

Darian picked up his phone and made a call to someone. His voice was low as he said, "Help me investigate a person named Eliza."

Bang!

There was a loud crash from the front.

Cecily's face tensed, and the driver in front immediately slammed on the brakes.

A black car had suddenly collided with the car in front, forcefully bringing the bodyguard's car to a stop.

Darian squinted as he looked ahead, a coldness creeping up his handsome face.

Larkin immediately got out of the car to check the situation, but the black car seemed to have lost control and was heading towards their car.

Cecily furrowed her brow. This was clearly not an accident but a deliberate attack.

There was no need to guess who was behind this.

The intended target was likely her vehicle, aiming to injure her or delay her trip, causing her to miss the banquet.

But because Darian had arranged for several cars to follow, they didn't know which car Cecily was in, so they ended up colliding with the bodyguard's car.

But at this moment, they had no intention of stopping. They changed direction and headed towards them.

Darian's face tensed, and he immediately reached out to protect Cecily.

Just then, a black SUV rushed out without hesitation and rammed directly into the black car.

Cecily's heart tightened.

The people in the SUV seemed determined. Not only did they force the black car to a stop, but they also stepped on the accelerator, continuously pushing the black car back.

The people in the black car were in a panic. They desperately turned the steering wheel to escape, but even so, the people in the SUV seemed unwilling to let them go. They quickly turned the steering wheel and rammed into the car. The car hit the guardrail and slid sideways for dozens of feet.

At this moment, the people in the black car also lost their temper and wanted to confront the SUV head-on. They madly stepped on the accelerator and rushed towards the SUV, disregarding their own lives.

Some didn't value their lives, but sometimes, they were met by those who cared even less. The driver of the SUV was clearly of the latter sort.

Cecily watched both vehicles collide fiercely, and she was so scared that she got out of the car directly. The scene in front of her looked even more terrifying.
