Chapter 83 Was the Child's Secret About to Come Out?

Darian stopped about two or three meters away from him, frowning and asking, "What do you want then?"

"I want Mommy to change it. Daddy, take me to Mommy. I don't like doctors; I only like Mommy."

Darian felt this kid was way too attached to Cecily, especially since they had only spent one day together.

"No way," Darian flatly refused.

Griffin felt a wave of despair wash over him. His father's decision was final. The prospect of removing the bandage from his head and revealing the miraculously healed wound filled him with dread.

Seeing the little guy wasn’t coming down, Darian decided not to indulge him and let him be. "Come down when you're ready," he said to his son before turning and walking away.

The vast living room fell silent.

Declan and Hayden's gaze shifted back and forth between the standoff, and Declan tugged on Hayden's shirt and said, "Hey, have you noticed this little tyrant is quite similar to Darian in temperament?"

Hayden smirked. "I've noticed."

Father and son were still at an impasse.

After an hour had passed, Darian abruptly stood up with a glowering face. He grabbed his coat and car keys, then stood waiting impatiently for the little one for three seconds.

Without any prompt, the little one climbed down and followed him step by step.

Darian looked down at his son next to him and sighed in exasperation, saying, "You’re at least smart."

Griffin flashed a bright smile at Darian.

Hayden stood up from the sofa, puzzled. "Darian, you're leaving just like that?"

In the Watson household, Cecily had just finished preparing a spread of delicious dishes: six entrees and one soup. Truth be told, Cecily was the one who did most of the cooking, as Aurelie's attempts often ended in chaos.

Yet, Aurelie loved a bit of pageantry. She'd even picked up fresh flowers and arranged them thoughtfully on the table, creating an inviting atmosphere—only the dimming of lights and the lighting of candles were missing.

Admiring the feast before her, Aurelie clapped her hands in excitement, taking a moment to snap a picture for her social media feed. "Oh, boy, we're in for a treat tonight!" she chirped.

Cecily stepped out with two wine glasses in hand, exclaiming, "Let's dig in."

As soon as she finished speaking, her phone chimed with a new message, catching her attention.

Glancing at the screen, she read a text from Griffin: "Mommy, Daddy's bringing me to our place."

Cecily was slightly startled, her head snapping up, before a brief moment of bewilderment overtook her.

"What's wrong?" Aurelie asked, stopping mid-gesture with wide eyes.

"Darian is coming over with Griffin," Cecily replied.

Another message followed swiftly from Griffin: "We're downstairs now."

"Already?" Aurelie's eyes widened further in bewilderment. Flustered, she hastily grabbed her coat and bag, ready to leave in a hurry. "This is so sudden... I'll, I'll just go."

Cecily caught her by the arm and asked, "Where do you think you're going?"

Aurelie shuddered. "Just the sight of Darian reminds me of how expressionless he was when he wanted to cast me away at sea. And I cursed him out that day. What if he holds a grudge? No way I want to see him."

With a quick dash, Aurelie slipped out the door, only to poke her head back in moments later. "Girl, you're on your own," she called out with a smirk before vanishing from sight.

Blinking rapidly, Cecily was left to process the sudden exit.

Not even a minute after Aurelie's departure, the doorbell echoed through the apartment.

Cecily quickly locked away anything related to Griffin in his room and secured the door, after ensuring everything else in the house was in order. She then went to open the door.
There stood Darian, dressed in a sharp, dark suit, with a cheery Griffin by his side.

"Mommy," Griffin said, managing to restrain his excitement, greeting Cecily calmly.

Feigning ignorance, Cecily asked, "What brings you here?"

"We've come for a treatment," Darian said simply.

"You don't need medical treatment today," she replied, slightly puzzled.

His condition didn't require daily injections; Cecily had already arranged his treatment schedule, and when the time came, she would naturally administer his shots.

"It's him," Darian spat out coldly.

Cecily’s gaze landed on Griffin with a quizzical arching of her eyebrows.

Griffin lowered his head, drawing Cecily’s attention to the bandage on his head.

Sure enough, one lie had led to countless others. Pretending to be confused, Cecily asked, "What's wrong with Rowan? What’s he sick with?"

"Mommy, could you help me change my dressing?"

Cecily nodded immediately and replied, "Of course, come on in."

She reached out to pull the little guy inside. Darian didn't stop her. Cecily glanced at Darian and said, "Goodbye, Mr. Darian."

Darian's face darkened and he raised his hand to block the door that Cecily was about to close. "Can't I come in?"

"Why would you come in? It is not you that needs medical attention!"

Biting back frustration, Darian asked, "Have you eaten?"

Cecily shook her head at Darian's question. "I was just about to."

"I haven't eaten yet either."

"Oh, well you go ahead and eat. I can take care of the child, no need for you to worry."

Darian's expression turned even darker, wondering if this woman genuinely couldn’t understand or if she was feigning ignorance.
Seeing that Darian didn't move to leave, Cecily paused before realizing what he meant and asked, "You don’t mean to eat here at my place, do you?"

With an impassive face, Darian's thin lips parted slowly to let out two words, “Thank you.”

Cecily looked at Darian as he made himself at home in her place, then glanced at Griffin, tilting her head slightly...

She realized that she had indirectly invited him in and allowed him to stay over for a meal.

The real issue was his manner; it left her with no face to drive him out.

Cecily began to feel grateful that she had straightened up the house earlier, otherwise her cover would have been completely blown.

Darian stepped into the house and immediately saw the carefully arranged dinner table, complete with two place settings and a freshly opened bottle of red wine. Next to it, the vibrant flowers seemed to practically burst with color, indicating a thoughtfully prepared meal.

The pleasant expression that had originally graced Darian's face instantly turned cold. It became clear to him why Cecil had been in such a hurry to get him to leave. It was a setup for a date with her boyfriend.

Darian felt a wave of displeasure churn inside him. "Got a date?" he asked coldly.
