Chapter 683 What Right Do You Have to Be Happy for Me

Bryan's eyes trembled as he looked at Darian in surprise. "Really?"

"Yeah." Darian nodded.

A moment of silence.

Mentioning Cecily and the child, Bryan seemed to be consumed by guilt.

Thinking about that child before, Bryan spoke with difficulty, "Alright."

Darian didn't say anything.

After a long while, Bryan's cigarette burned down to his fingers. He finally took a deep breath and looked at Darian, saying, "Let's not tell her about Vivienne. Let her rest peacefully."

Bryan knew Cecily should be informed, but he also knew that pregnant women couldn't handle stress.

If Cecily found out about Vivienne, she would be devastated.

If it caused her to lose the baby, he and Vivienne would never forgive themselves.

Bryan's tired eyes betrayed a hint of collapse.

Too many emotions were buried deep inside, making him feel suffocated, like an invisible hand was choking him.

"What are you two talking about?" Cecily's voice suddenly came.

She had come out to find Darian, but couldn't find him. The servant said they went in this direction, so Cecily came over.

At this moment, both of them looked bad. When they saw Cecily, she even saw panic in their eyes, as if they were hiding something from her.

Cecily blinked, her gaze shifting back and forth between the two.

"What's wrong?" Cecily asked.

Under Cecily's gaze, Darian and Bryan felt uneasy. Darian reacted quickly, regained his composure, and walked over to Cecily, naturally wrapping his arm around her waist. "Why did you come out? Weren't you resting in the room?"

"I came out to find you since you didn't come back. The servant said you were here." Cecily didn't let Darian dodge the question and asked again, "What were you talking about? Why do you look guilty when you see me?"

Darian wasn't good at lying to Cecily and unconsciously pressed his lips together.

"Why aren't you talking? Did you do something wrong or are you hiding something from me? Darian, you said you wouldn't hide anything from me. I'm carrying your baby. If you lie to me now, I'll never forgive you," Cecily said.

Cecily spoke in a joking manner, but Darian took it seriously. He was terrified, feeling as if a heavy weight was crushing his chest, making it hard to breathe.

Darian didn't say anything.

Cecily raised an eyebrow. "What's going on? You seemed troubled last night. "

After a long while, Darian sighed deeply and met Cecily's gaze.

He knew he couldn't hide this.

Just like he said when questioning Wade.

Vivienne didn't go out for a break. She wasn't coming back in a month or two. She didn't want to come back now, and as time passed and her condition worsened, she was even less likely to return.

They would have to face it sooner or later.

Darian looked at Cecily, wanting to tell her everything in one go. "Cecily, there's something..."

"Just now, Darian was telling me about your pregnancy, Cecily. I'm happy for you." Bryan spoke up before Darian could, covering Darian's voice.

Darian looked at Bryan, pressing his lips tightly together.

Cecily's attention was drawn by Bryan's words. Hearing Bryan say he was happy for her felt ironic.

Happy for what?

Wasn't her last child lost because of him?

What right did he have to be happy for her? What right did he have to say that?

"Thanks, but no need." Cecily said coldly and distantly.

Bryan was deeply hurt by Cecily's words, feeling a sharp pain in his chest.

He couldn't say anything.

"You don't need to be happy for me. We have nothing to do with each other. You should leave. Since Vivienne isn't home, you don't need to come every day. I don't want to see you," Cecily said.

Cecily's words were hurtful, and pain flashed clearly in Bryan's eyes.

"Cecily, I just wanted to be happy for you. I know you don't want to acknowledge me as your father. I was wrong before," Bryan replied.

"Good that you know." Cecily turned her head away from Bryan, "Leave. When you mention the child, I think of the one I lost before. Thinking about that child makes me want to go crazy."

Cecily was in pain because she lost that child. What hurt even more was that the child was lost because Bryan used her as a bargaining chip, pushing her into danger. So she couldn't let it go.

Bryan's face was full of pain, feeling suffocated. "Cecily, don't be angry. I'll leave now."

Cecily didn't look at him or say another word.

Darian stood beside Cecily, clearly seeing the pain on her face.

Cecily had expectations for Bryan. Maybe in her heart, she had tried countless times to forgive him, but thinking about that incident, she couldn't calm down or let it go.

Saying those harsh words to Bryan made her feel bad too.

Bryan looked deeply at Cecily, then lowered his head silently and slowly left.

As Bryan walked past Cecily, tears she had been holding back finally fell.

Darian reached out to gently wipe her tears.

Cecily closed her eyes, crying silently. She took a deep breath, but the tears kept flowing, unstoppable.

She had tried many times to let go of this, but every time she saw Bryan, the pain she tried to bury deep inside surged out uncontrollably. She couldn't control her emotions.

Darian lowered his eyes, knowing Cecily's thoughts were now consumed by this, leaving no room for her earlier questions.

He had wanted to tell Cecily about it, but Bryan interrupted. Now, he couldn't bring himself to say it.

He didn't know if hiding it from Cecily was good or bad.

This incident ruined Cecily's good mood. She was in a bad state and couldn't eat anything at lunch.

After lunch, during Cecily's nap, Darian disappeared. When Cecily woke up, she didn't see Darian.
