Chapter 427 The Results Are Out
The ward reeked of disinfectant, and Darian squinted up at the white ceiling.
His head pounded, thoughts scattered like sand, unable to focus.
After a while, distant memories started to surface.
He'd had a car accident. When he woke up, Owen had arranged for him to marry Cecily. Three years into the marriage, Cecily caused Ophelia's child's death. In a rage, he forced Cecily to drink abortion medicine.
Later, Cecily and one of her children died. He adopted her surviving child, naming him Rowan.
Everything after that was a blur.
For a moment, Darian wondered if he was dreaming. But no, those events were real.
So that's what Cecily meant when she said the past couldn't be chased.
'But what happened next? Where did Cecily and the child go if they didn't die? How did it all end?' he wondered.
Questions swirled, and pain shot through his head. He touched the white bandages wrapped around it.
"Dad, Darian's awake."
Josep appeared and called out to Owen, who was in the living room.
Owen, leaning on a cane, hurried in. "Darian? Are you feeling okay?"
"No," Darian said, scanning the room as if looking for someone.
Owen noticed. "Cecily went out. She's not here."
Josep gave Olivia a look, and she added, "Darian, I saw Cecily with a man not long ago."
Owen squinted. He hadn't seen Cecily all morning either.
Darian got hurt saving her, and she wasn't even here. Yet she claimed to love him.
Owen asked, "Cecily was with a man?"
"Yeah, they seemed close. Not sure what their relationship is."
Owen frowned. "Did you see clearly?"
"Of course, it was broad daylight. Josep saw it too. We're not lying."
Olivia sighed. "I was about to call out to her. Darian got hurt and hospitalized for her, but she was out there hugging another man. I couldn't stand it.”
“But then I thought, she's not part of the Fitzgerald family anymore, so it's not my place to intervene. Maybe she thought Darian's condition was bad and was in a hurry to find another man."
Olivia raised her voice, leaving out Cecily's hard work taking care of the kids, making it sound like Cecily was out on a date.
She watched Owen and Darian's reactions.
Darian showed no emotion, just a slight frown, as if confused.
Owen's face darkened. Olivia stepped back, scared he might lose his temper.
The doctor came to check, asking Josep and Olivia to step out.
In the living room, with the door closed, Owen said quietly, "In that case, she doesn't need to come see Darian anymore."
Josep got the message. "Got it, Dad. I'll tell the others keep Cecily out if they see her."
Olivia smirked and added, "Dad, honestly, Cecily should've been out of Darian's life ages ago. She's caused so much chaos, making the Fitzgerald family uneasy. It's better to cut her off now. When Darian recovers, he can find a good woman, definitely not someone like Cecily."
Owen snorted, glancing at Olivia. "You don't need to say more. Darian knows what to do."
Owen knew they were exaggerating a bit.
But his own bias against Cecily hadn't faded, and Darian was hurt because of her. Plus, Cecily hadn't shown up all morning, which naturally irked him.
Olivia pursed her lips, and Josep gave her a look, signaling her to keep quiet.
Owen didn't fully trust them. Saying more would only annoy him.
Soon, the doctor came out and said to Owen, "Mr. Fitzgerald's body is back to normal. He just needs to rest well."
"Okay, thank you, doctor."
Hearing this, Owen finally sighed in relief.
As the doctor left, Owen said to Josep and his wife, "You two stay here. I'll go check on Freya. I heard she got shot in the chest saving Rowan and is still in critical condition."
"Okay, Dad, you go ahead. We'll take care of Darian," Josep said.
Owen's dark eyes glanced at him, filled with emotions Josep couldn't read.
Josep's heart trembled slightly, and he dared not show any expression, fearing Owen would discover his hidden thoughts.
"Sawyer, you stay here," Owen said, then walked out with his cane.
Josep's eyes flickered slightly, secretly relieved. Owen still didn't trust him completely. Otherwise, he wouldn't have left Sawyer to watch.
But he naturally wouldn't act rashly at this critical moment.
Cecily had lunch at Fitzgerald Mansion, changed into clean clothes under Sandra's arrangement, and after confirming that Rowan and Griffin didn't have a fever, she asked the driver to take her to the hospital.
Predicting that Darian should be waking up around this time, she had the Fitzgerald family's servant prepare some easily digestible food and brought the meal box to the ward door.
The two bodyguards at the door immediately stopped her. "Miss Watson, sorry, you can't go in."
Cecily thought she had misheard and said, "I can't go in?"
"Yes," the two bodyguards replied coldly and firmly.
Cecily raised an eyebrow, immediately realizing someone was deliberately keeping her from Darian. "Who gave the order?"
"Sorry, Miss Watson, we can't tell you."
At this moment, the door opened from the inside, and Josep and Olivia walked out. Olivia crossed her arms, coldly sizing up Cecily. "Cecily, are you here to see Darian? Give me the stuff. I'll take it in for you. Darian doesn't want to see you right now."
Cecily pressed her lips tightly. Seeing Josep and Olivia, she understood everything and couldn't help but sneer. "He's awake. Is it that he doesn't want to see me, or are you stopping me from seeing him?"
Olivia, not forgetting about the incidents involving Aurelia and Victor, stared directly at Cecily, her words growing sharper. "I told you, Darian doesn't want to see you. Dad also said you can't go in to see him. Stop making a scene here and leave quickly, or we'll have to send someone to kick you out."
Cecily knew they were up to no good again. Just as she was about to say something, she saw Cassian approaching from a distance.
Cassian coming to find her at this hour must indicate that he has learned the outcome.
