Chapter 330 Trouble Brewing

Darian frowned, "How did you know?"

Blaise raised an eyebrow, and Cassian answered Darian's question, "Our boss had someone secretly protecting Cecily. This time, seeing she had a plan, he didn't intervene. We followed the car that took Cecily and found she was taken onto a helicopter. We weren't prepared for a helicopter, so that we couldn't follow."

Blaise narrowed his sharp eyes and said, "I thought she dared to meet Eliza alone because she had discussed it with you. Now it seems you didn't even know her plan and had to rely on her to muster her own courage. You're useless."

Griffin had also called him for help, so he had seen the video.

He had thought Darian could protect her, but in the end, she had to protect herself with a video.

Darian's expression grew darker.

Perhaps he shouldn't have confined her. Once she made up her mind, no one could sway her.

Blaise was right; she had her own plan, and the courage to go was something she gave herself.

"I'm not in the mood to listen to you right now."

"Then let's go to the Bennett family," Blaise narrowed his eyes. "To find her, we need to catch that woman Eliza."

As dawn broke, Cecily remained motionless. Vincent, looking tense, carefully reached out to her face and checked her breathing.

Fortunately, she was alive.

After a while, Cecily slowly opened her eyes from her deep sleep, but her vision remained pitch black, with no light at all.

She felt a bit despondent and lowered her eyes.

"Sister, you're awake."

"Yes."

Cecily moved her body. The place she touched no longer felt like wet, soft mud. "Where are we?"

"Is she awake?" Suddenly, a strange and hoarse voice sounded.

Cecily was startled and immediately became alert. "Who else is here?"

"Sis, don't be afraid. It's an old man who lives in the mountains. He found us this morning and saved us. You fainted with a fever, and we're now at his house," Vincent quickly explained to Cecily.

Cecily, now blind and with a low sense of security, remained somewhat wary after hearing Vincent's words. "An old man?"

"You two are lucky. He got shot and still managed to hold on for a night. Quite tenacious," the old man said slowly, then Cecily felt a pill being handed to her.

"Drink this; it's for the fever."

Cecily thanked him and fumbled to take it.

She asked for the name of the medicine before taking it.

The old man smiled, "You know medicine?"

"I know a little."

The old man didn't say much more and went about his business.

Cecily, guided by the sounds, looked in Vincent's direction. "Is your wound treated?"

"Don't worry, sister. The old man applied some herbal medicine. The bullet hit a non-critical area. I'm strong, so this injury is nothing. But you, the old man, said your health isn't good, and you have a high fever. You should rest first."

Cecily pressed her lips together. Eliza's bodyguards were still looking for them; they couldn't stay long.

"We need to find a way to get back."

The old man who had walked in smiled, "Don't think about going back yet. It rained heavily last night, and the ground is soft. Even a healthy person wouldn't dare go down the mountain now, let alone you two, one sick and blind, the other injured. If you don't want to die, stay here. You barely survived; don't put yourselves in danger again."

His words were harsh, but they made sense.

Cecily asked, "May I ask, how long does it usually take to get down the mountain?"

"Walking takes four to five hours. I'm curious, why did you young people come here? You look like you're fleeing."

Cecily lowered her eyes. Eliza had gone to great lengths to kill her without being found by Darian, even bringing her to such a remote place.

"I'm being hunted by an enemy," Cecily didn't hide the truth. In their current state, the old man probably could tell.

"No wonder," the old man said slowly. "Last night, a group of people broke in here looking for someone. They must have been looking for you."

"They came here?"

Eliza was cautious. If she came here once, she would come again. She wouldn't stop until she found her.

Thinking of this, Cecily immediately stood up, "Old man, thank you for taking us in. I'm afraid we'll bring you trouble. We must leave now."

Vincent also stood up immediately and supported the blind Cecily.

The old man lowered his eyes and spoke slowly, "Sit down."

They paused.

The old man continued, "The mountain road is difficult. They won't find their way back soon. Even if you want to leave, wait until you regain some strength."

"Sister, you still have a fever. Stay here for now. I'm afraid your body can't take it."

"If you insist on leaving and encounter danger again, no one will save you."

After a moment of silence, Cecily nodded, "Thank you for taking us in."

The Bennett family.

Eliza arrived at the Bennett family gate but sat in the car, hesitating to go in.

Perhaps because of a guilty conscience, her heart was racing today, and she felt something was wrong.

She had all sorts of thoughts but couldn't figure out the Bennett family's intentions.

After a mental struggle, she finally mustered the courage to go in.

At worst, she would be captured and tortured for Cecily's whereabouts. If they dared to touch her, she would make sure they never found Cecily.

Opening the car door, Eliza walked briskly to the Bennett family gate, where a servant seemed to be waiting for her.

The door opened, and Eliza asked the servant, "Why did Desmond urgently call me back?"

The servant bowed slightly, "Sorry, I'm not sure. Miss, please follow me."

Seeing the servant say nothing, Eliza bit her lip and walked in with determination.

In the Bennett family hall, Vivienne glanced at Desmond and frowned, "Haven't you contacted the other person yet?"

"Not yet," Desmond was also anxious. If it was understandable that the phone was off last night because of rest, it was odd that it was still off this morning.

Vivienne frowned, thinking, "Keep calling. If you can't reach her, find the phone numbers of the people around her."

"Yes, I'll send someone immediately."

"Master, elder, the young lady is back," the guard at the door reported.

Vivienne's eyes flickered. She hadn't seen her daughter in over ten years, and she couldn't help but feel a bit emotional. But thinking that this person might not be her real daughter, she restrained her excitement.

"Bring her in."

Eliza raised her chin high and walked in with a straight back.

In the hall, a woman sat in the main seat. Time had not treated her harshly. In her forties, her face, naturally dignified, remained beautiful.

Seeing the woman's face, which bore a six or seven-point resemblance to Cecily, Eliza felt a bit panicked.

This person was none other than Vivienne!

Vivienne! Eliza's steps faltered. Hadn't Desmond said she had lost her mind due to depression and disappeared for a long time? How could she suddenly return, especially when Eliza was unprepared?
