Chapter20

"Today, the footage video went viral online. It recorded the conflict between Ms. Flores and Ms. Watson at the restaurant, sparking a fury of online commentary," Larkin said.

Darian frowned.

Just now, Larkin had glanced at the comments below. Ophelia's fall was on purpose, and the views were not dumb. Most viewers mocked the theatrical fall of Ophelia, calling it overacted and insincere.

Of course, Darian, who had laid hands on Cecily to defend Ophelia, was also heavily criticized.

At the end of the video, the uploader added an animated clip.

It was a clown tirelessly performing absurdly on the stage, while a pig watched with great interest beside him.

A group of people below were laughing, mocking the clown's poor acting and the pig's stupidity.

Larkin lowered his head and held back his smile, daring not to look up at Darian.

The clown and pig were a vivid mocking—Ophelia and Darian had become the laughingstock.

Though afraid, Larkin hesitantly placed his phone in front of Darian. After viewing the video, Darian's expression darkened considerably, the air around him seeming to chill.

He frowned, as he felt a sharp pain piercing his mind, as if his vessels were on the brink of bursting. Suddenly, his tall frame swayed and he collapsed.

"Boss?" Larkin's voice was tinged with alarm. "Darian! Get to the hospital quickly!"

Meanwhile, Cecily and Aurelie had just finished a meal. Aurelie opened her phone when a trending headline popped up. Clicking in and viewing the content, Aurelie burst into laughter.

"Cecily, seems someone has avenged us," Aurelie laughed.

"What?" Cecily asked.

"Take a look." Aurelie handed her the phone.

Intrigued, Cecily took the phone, sat beside her, and watched.

She watched the video end with the clown and the pig twisting comically, and a smirk played on her lips. "I don't know who did it, but the editor deserves a big award. Ophelia and Darian must be seething tonight."

Aurelie couldn't stop laughing.

As the video ended, Cecily was certain of who did it. It must be her clever and deep-thinking son, Griffin.

At that moment, her phone rang.

Griffin's voice came from the other side, sounding proud, "Mommy, did you find the surprise I prepared for you?"

Cecily smiled gently, "I saw it. I knew it was you."

"How was it? Mommy, are you pleased? Say something," Griffin asked.

"I'm pleased with that. My Griffin is amazing," she answered.

"Is it Griffin?" Aurelie leaned in.

Cecily nodded, asking back, "Do you want to talk to Griffin?"

"Of course," Aurelie said.

Then Cecily put the call on speaker.

"Griffin, it's Aurelie," Aurelie said to the phone.

Upon hearing Aurelie's voice, Griffin enthusiastically responded, "Aurelie, I miss you so much."

"I miss you too. Griffin, wait for us. Once your mommy sorts things out here, we will come pick you up, okay?" Aurelie said.

"Okay, I'll wait for you," Griffin said cheerfully.

"Oh, Griffin, you made that video?" Aurelie asked.

"Yes, I made it," he answered.

"Griffin, you're amazing. I adore how you handled those villains."

"By the way, how's mommy's injury?" Griffin asked with concern.

"Don't worry, it's not a big deal. I'll be fine very soon," Cecily answered.

"I'm here with her. I'll take good care of your mommy," Aurelie added.

After a moment of silence, Griffin sighed with concern, "Mommy, it's not worth hurting yourself for them. If you do this again, I'll be upset."

Cecily pursed her lips. She didn't want to hurt herself either, but she knew Darian too well. Either apologize or pay the price, or he wouldn't let it go.

She chose the latter one. For she would never apologize for something she didn't do.

Since Darian insisted she pay the price for Ophelia, she would first make it a fact that she harmed Ophelia.

Cecily smiled bitterly, promising Griffin she wouldn't do it again next time.

As the mood grew heavy, Aurelie quickly changed the topic. "Let's not dwell on this. Let's talk about something cheerful."

Upon waking up in the hospital, Darian went straight home.

He had already instructed to take down the video, but the discussions continued unabated.

The person who posted the video was targeting him and Ophelia, likely to vent for Cecily.

That person was skilled. He had the IP address of the video traced, only to find it was sent from Dorde, and the trail went cold there.

Darian deepened his frown, increasingly convinced that Cecily had many secrets hidden in Dorde.

"Boss, calm down. Whoever this is, they've left a trail. It's just a matter of time before we find them." Larkin said, fearing that the trail would only get Darian even angrier.

At that moment, the guard knocked on the door and reported, "Boss, Ms. Flores is here."

Darian pinched his brow. He was enough with it, so he coldly said, "I don't want to see her."

Ophelia stood at the door, her expression shifting subtly as she overheard the conversation. Brushing past the guard who attempted to stop her, she barged in. With tears in her eyes as she looked at Darian, she pleaded, "Darian."

Ophelia had seen the video. She guessed that Darian knew about it too.

Darian detested deception the most, and she was panicked. Unable to fall asleep, she rushed over immediately.

Darian glanced at her, his frown deepening. "What are you doing here?"

Anxiously, Ophelia walked up to Darian, pleading, "Darian, I know I was wrong."

"And what exactly was your mistake?" Darian's voice was icy.

Overwhelmed by his anger, Ophelia's heart pounded heavily. She lowered her head, tears streaming down, and said, "I shouldn't have... shouldn't have done that, but I was just too angry at the time. It was Cecily who insulted me first."

"Is that so?" Darian questioned.

Ophelia raised her head, tears in her eyes. With a pitiful look, she nodded.

Darian sneered, "Actually, Cecily was right."

Ophelia froze.

She said in her heart, 'Why was he treating me like this? The gentle Darian had vanished. Damn it, it's all because of that wretched Cecily!'

"Everything Cecily said was true, wasn't it? She didn't falsely accuse you, did she?" Darian's gaze grew colder as he spoke.
