Chapter 597: If You Have No Money, Use Your Hand to Repay

They barged in like they owned the place, kicking stuff outta their way, eyes narrowed and locked on Aurelie. "You Aurelie?"

"Yeah, that's her! If you're lookin' for cash, she's got it," Barbara hollered, pointing right at Aurelie.

The big, burly debt collector gave Aurelie the once-over. "Alright then, check or card?"

"I told you, I got no money, and this ain't my problem. I'm done with Joshua. His family, his kids, you want money, go bug them," Aurelie said, trying to keep her cool.

"Shut up, bitch. Say one more word, and I'll end you," Barbara snapped, stepping up to cover Aurelie's mouth, worried she might change their minds.

"Back off!" Aurelie suddenly swung a kitchen knife around like a maniac. "Come any closer, and I'll cut you."

Barbara jumped back, freaked out by Aurelie's wild move. "Aurelie, you're nuts!"

"Yeah, you all drive me nuts," Aurelie said, waving the knife like a madwoman, stepping towards Barbara and the others. "Aren't you gonna hit me? Well, come on then."

Barbara and the other two looked scared outta their minds, backing up. "Aurelie, put the knife down. You can't scare us with this."

Barbara stammered, backing off, way less cocky than before. "Anyway, ask her for the money. She's got it."

The debt collectors were thrown off by Aurelie's knife act. Once they got their bearings, they snorted, "What, you think this is a joke? I'm telling all four of you, none of you is going to get away with this.. Pay up, now."

Nicole, looking miserable, peeked out from behind Barbara, pointing at Aurelie. "We really don't have a dime. Aurelie's got money, she's just being stingy."

"Yeah," John nodded like a bobblehead.

"Shut up, all of you," the debt collector roared. One said it wasn't her problem, the others said someone else had the cash, like they were playing games.

The debt collector zeroed in on Aurelie, yelling, "Pay up."

"I told you, it ain't my responsibility and I got no money. Asking me is pointless," Aurelie said, clutching the kitchen knife, her only sense of security against this mob.

The debt collector smirked, "So, you're dodging the debt, huh?"

His eyes drifted to the knife in Aurelie's hand. "You know what we do to folks who try to dodge debts at our casino?"

"Why should I pay his debt?" Aurelie's voice wavered, her lashes fluttering. She knew these casino goons had all sorts of nasty tricks up their sleeves. She probably looked like a joke to them.

But she stood tall, trying hard not to show any fear.

"It's not your debt, it's your dad's. But now that he's dead, it's on you to pay up," they said.

"Yeah, as his kid, you gotta pay his debt," Barbara chimed in again.

"Then why don't you pay? Aren't your son and daughter Joshua's kids too? Aren't you his wife? Instead of paying, you come after me, the daughter Joshua ditched ages ago."

Barbara stiffened her neck and kept going, "Nicole and John are still young, and I'm old. How can we possibly pay?"

"Twenty-four and twenty-three, and they're still young? You're old, but you're real good at playing the victim. If I'm not wrong, you've been live-streaming your sob story online these past few days. Lots of folks feel sorry for you and wanna help. You might not have millions, but you should have at least a million dollars. Why not use that to pay Joshua's debt?" Aurelie shot back, loud and clear.

The three of them immediately panicked.

The debt collector squinted at them, "You got a million dollars?"

When they first came to these three, they cried about having no money at all.

A million dollars might not be much compared to two hundred millions, but money was money no matter how little it was..

Feeling duped, the debt collector grabbed Barbara. "Hiding money instead of paying the debt? Saving it for yourself after you die?"

"No, she's lying! We got no money," Barbara frantically waved her hands, looking totally freaked out.

"She's lying. You can check if what I said is true," Aurelie said with such confidence, it was hard to doubt her.

And she was right. Lots of people were following Joshua's suicide, and many watched their live streams and donated a ton of money.

Barbara wanted to dump all the debt on her. But even if Aurelie couldn't escape, she wasn't letting these three off the hook.

"Aurelie, shut up. You're lying!" Barbara, who had finally gotten some cash, was too stingy to use it to pay Joshua's debt.

"I really have no money. Ask her for money. She's got loads," Barbara shouted.

"I don't care if she has money or not. You cough up your cash to pay the interest first, and then we'll deal with the rest," the collector said.

Barbara cried and fell to her knees, "I really have no money."

"No money? Then you'll pay the interest with your hand." Saying this, the debt collector pulled out a sharp knife and pressed Barbara's hand onto the table.
