Chapter 650: What Should He Do About His Cecily
"You guys not saying anything means this is serious. But Cecily's gonna find out eventually. Instead of hiding it and making her suffer later, just tell me now. Maybe I can help," Darian said, staring hard at Gary.
Gary knew Darian was right, but he had promised Vivienne. His hand clenched at his side, and the conflict in his eyes deepened.
Darian had no patience for Gary to mull it over and pressed on, "If you don't tell me, I'll find out myself. You know I can."
The room went silent. Gary gritted his teeth and stayed quiet for a long time before finally looking up, "She..."
"Gary!" Desmond came rushing up from downstairs, cutting him off as he reached Gary's side, "What are you doing here?"
Gary's mouth, which had just opened, snapped shut again, and he lowered his head, "Nothing."
Darian frowned, clearly annoyed at being interrupted.
"Then go back to your room to have some rest. It's late," Desmond said, trying to separate Gary and Darian.
Gary's expression was tense. He nodded, "Okay."
Desmond glanced at Darian, gave a slight nod, and turned to leave.
Gary followed Desmond downstairs. When they reached the stairway, seeing Desmond walk away, Gary hesitated for a moment, then turned back to Darian and said, "If you want to know something, go find Wade. But after you know, think carefully about telling Cecily. This is something she can't handle."
Hearing this, Darian felt even more uneasy, as if he had thought of something.
Once, in the hospital, when Cecily was hospitalized after being shot, Cecily's surgeon had noticed Vivienne's poor complexion and suggested she get a check-up. Although he couldn't be sure just by looking, a check-up would give them peace of mind.
Darian had noted this and told Desmond to remind Vivienne to get a check-up.
He didn't know if they ever did it. At that time, he was preoccupied with Cecily, who had just lost her child. After being reminded, he had completely forgotten about it.
Now thinking about it, Darian worried that what they were hiding from Cecily was related to Vivienne's health.
Vivienne might be seriously ill, so ill that it was incurable, and she didn't want Cecily to know, avoiding her to prevent her from noticing.
Thinking this way, everything seemed to make sense.
Feeling a pang of sadness, he hoped he was wrong. If it were true, what would Cecily do?
Having just found Vivienne, losing her again would be too cruel for Cecily.
Darian clenched his fists and walked back to his room. By the time he returned, he had composed himself, not wanting Cecily to notice anything.
"Why did it take so long?" Cecily asked.
Darian walked over, looking at her gently, "I was just arranging for someone to find Vivienne, which took some time."
"Okay." Cecily didn't doubt Darian's words.
"Shall we sleep? It's late." Darian leaned over, gently hugging Cecily and kissing the top of her head tenderly.
"Okay. Are you going back tomorrow? I plan to stay here for a couple more days," Cecily said, leaning against Darian and discussing with him.
Darian wanted to get to the bottom of Vivienne's situation himself. He didn't trust anyone else to investigate, so he needed to stay here for a few more days, "No, I'll stay with you for a few more days."
"Alright." Cecily nodded, leaning against Darian, noticing the complex emotions in his eyes.
Darian sighed quietly, his fingers gently stroking her hair. He hoped all his guesses were wrong. If it were any other issue, it could be resolved, but if it were an incurable disease, there would be nothing he could do.
Darian looked down at Cecily, wondering how she would cope and how heartbroken she would be.
Darian carried Cecily to the bathroom for a bath. After some time, he carried her to bed. Watching her sleep, he looked at her for a while before getting up and taking his phone outside. "Larkin, help me find someone tomorrow, Wade."
Darian didn't have a deep impression of Wade, only remembering the emotional entanglements between Wade, Vivienne, and Bryan. Bryan had even mistakenly thought Cecily was Vivienne and Wade's daughter.
Wade used to be a doctor at Silver Frost Capital Hospital, but he seemed to have followed Vivienne back to Detroit.
Since they were in Detroit, it shouldn't be hard to find him.
"Let me know as soon as you find him," Darian said.
