Chapter 269 A Madman Suddenly Rushed Out
In Sandra's ward, two nurses were taking care of Sandra.
Hearing a knock on the door, Sandra responded, and the moment the door opened, her face darkened.
"What are you here for?" Sandra's cold gaze fixed on Cecily.
Cecily didn't avoid Sandra's eyes and replied, "I'm here to see you."
Upon hearing this response, a hint of anger flashed in Sandra's eyes, and she coldly snorted. "To see me? To see if I'm dead or alive, right?"
She cast a hostile glance at Darian.
She had long known about what he had done for Cecily, but she never expected Darian to take Cecily's side this time.
He was willing to sacrifice even his own mother and reputation for a woman.
PerhapsOwen was right. For Darian, he could have many women, but he must never be obsessed with one.
"Mom, what happened to you wasn't what you think," Darian sighed and said.
Sandra clearly didn't buy his explanation; her gaze became even more piercing.
"Is that so? If you want to defend her, I can't stop you. Now take her and get out. I don't want to see you both."
Cecily stepped forward and said, "Mrs. Thompson, I came here to explain everything."
"There's nothing to explain."
"You saw me stab you with a knife. Can you tell me why I did it?"
"You already said it yourself, to seek revenge for your child."
Cecily pursed her lips. "Then why didn't I seek revenge on Ophelia? Why did I choose to harm you instead? Not only that, I left all the evidence without any concealment. I openly opposed the Fitzgerald family and let everyone know that I had a death wish, huh?"
Sandra furrowed her brow as she listened. This approach was indeed unreasonable, and anyone with a bit of sense wouldn't do such a thing.
"Well, who knows what you were thinking at that time."
"It wasn't me who hurt you," Cecily continued under Sandra's suspicious gaze. "Someone had plastic surgery to look like me and wanted to frame me."
Sandra frowned. "Plastic surgery? Framing? Are you kidding me?"
"No joke. She's had surgery to look like me to frame me. And I've already dealt with that person. She's now at the Bennett family. Darian and I just came back from there. If you don't believe me, at least believe your son."
Sandra looked at Darian with a skeptical gaze.
Darian nodded. "Everything she said is true."
"Well..." Sandra was taken aback. She hesitated for a moment and then asked, "If what you say is true, what was the purpose of this person who had plastic surgery?"
"It's a long story. We will explain it to you slowly later. For now, just know that Cecily is not the one who hurt you," said Darian.
Sandra looked up and glanced at Cecily, her eyes sincere. After a while, she averted her gaze. "You're not trying to defend her by making up such a person to deceive me, are you?"
Darian moved his lips slightly, a hint of helplessness flashing in his dark eyes. "Do you need me to take you to see that person yourself?"
Sandra raised her hand. "No need."
She believed it. Even if she didn't believe Cecily, she should believe her son. Darian would never fabricate a lie to deceive her, no matter how blindly he trusted Cecily.
Sandra sighed and said, "Alright, I understand. I accept your explanation. Is there anything else? If not, you can leave."
Sandra's tone suggested she was still angry.
Darian raised an eyebrow. "Are you still angry?"
Sandra glanced at him. "My own son is running around for another woman while his mother is in the hospital, and you expect me not to be angry? How's that possible?"
Sandra adjusted the blanket and said to Darian, "If you had waited any longer, I would've felt like I never had a son."
Darian sighed, "I'm sorry. I've been busy. Every time I came before, you were resting."
"Alright, alright, you both can leave now. You two are bothering me. I heard that your grandfather asked your uncle to come and put pressure on you. You have a lot to deal with." She then turned to Cecily. "And you, with someone out there who's had surgery to look like you, be careful not to end up in the hospital like me."
Sandra scolded and warned them.
Cecily smiled gently as she listened to Sandra scolding and advising while being angry.
"Okay, we will be careful." Cecily nodded in response.
Sandra pulled up the blanket and lay down. "You can go now. Bring my two grandsons next time. I don't want to see you."
Darian's tense expression relaxed slightly. "Got it. Rest well."
After speaking, Darian silently led Cecily out.
Cecily gently closed the door of the ward, and Darian naturally held her hand, leading her slowly towards the elevator.
Looking at their entwined hands and then up at the man beside her, Cecily felt warm, and her heart fluttered slightly. She involuntarily tightened the hand that was being held.
Darian felt her hand trying to slip away. He stopped and turned to look at her. "What's wrong?"
Cecily withdrew her hand from his grasp and put it in her pocket, pursing her lips. "Thank you for helping me explain things to your mother."
Darian lowered his gaze and met Cecily's eyes. "Isn't that what I should do?"
Cecily's eyes flickered, and she said, "Thank you for helping me apply for bail and buying time."
Darian looked at her intently. "Is there anything else?"
"What else?"
"Say all your thanks at once so that I can make a request."
Cecily hesitated for a moment, looking at the smile in the man's eyes. She nodded. "I've finished. Go ahead and make your request."
As soon as she finished speaking, a noisy sound came from the surroundings. Darian's expression changed, and he reached out, grabbing her arm and pulling her into his embrace with force.
Cecily was caught off guard and stumbled into Darian's arms, taking a step back.
She heard the sound of a body hitting the wall and looked up at Darian.
Darian furrowed slightly, looking in the direction behind her. Cecily turned to see the person who had charged out now sprawled on the ground.
Several doctors and nurses followed, including Tabitha, with tears on her face.
Cecily looked back at the disheveled patient.
It was Ophelia!
Ophelia sat on the ground, crying and laughing, looking as if she had gone mad.
Cecily furrowed her brow. "Ophelia? Has she gone insane?"
Darian put his arm around her and stood her up. "She brought this upon herself. Don't mind her."
Cecily averted her gaze and looked up at Darian. "Are you hurt? I heard you hit the wall."
"I'm fine."
Cecily wanted to say something, as she had clearly heard his back hitting the wall.
He was injured!
Darian looked down at her, his eyes showing a clear smile.
Cecily asked, "What's so funny?"
"Nothing, it just feels good to be cared for." Darian held her hand again and led her away.
Ophelia was still crying and causing a scene behind them, cursing loudly.
Cecily was curious. "What did you do to her that made her like this? What happened?"
"It was Blaise's doing."
Cecily blinked. "Blaise?"
