Chapter 256 What if I wanted to devour Fitzgerald's Family?

Darian's presence was too strong, making it difficult for Cecily to fall asleep. She tossed and turned in bed, trying not to make any big movements.

"You can't sleep. Do you want to get up and exercise?" Darian suggested.

Cecily instantly stopped moving.

Darian smiled helplessly.

Mr. Fitzgerald from Fitzgerald's Family also struggled to fall asleep. Darian's actions today caught him off guard. How could he have dared to vouch for Cecily and even announced it to the media, publicly proclaiming his belief in her innocence?

Mr. Fitzgerald was furious and lectured Darian. He was so angry that he almost ended up in the hospital with a splitting headache.

Sawyer handed a freshly brewed coffee to Mr. Fitzgerald and carefully advised, "Mr. Fitzgerald, calm down and don't let your anger affect your health."

"How can I calm down? He is the future of Fitzgerald's Family. How can he go mad for a Cecily like this? I would rather him have an Ophelia by his side than a Cecily who constantly drives him crazy," Mr. Fitzgerald said, rubbing his tense forehead, filled with worry.

"Where did he go now?" Sawyer lowered his head, not sure what he should say.

Mr. Fitzgerald shook his head helplessly, "Other than going to find that Cecily, there is nowhere else he would go. He is smart, hiding that Cecily tightly."

The more Mr. Fitzgerald spoke, the angrier he became.

Sawyer patted Mr. Fitzgerald's back to comfort him, "Darian might have his own plans."

Mr. Fitzgerald closed his eyes, exhaustion etched on his wrinkled face. "His plans? His plans are to find evidence for Cecily's innocence."

Sawyer dared not say anything more.

Mr. Fitzgerald sighed heavily, supporting his head, "All right, you can go now."

Sawyer nodded and worriedly said, "Please don't get angry anymore, and take care of your health."

"Don't worry, I can't sleep until these troublesome matters are resolved," Mr. Fitzgerald waved his hand, indicating that Sawyer should leave.

Sawyer took three steps and looked back before leaving.

With the door closing, Mr. Fitzgerald took out his phone and hesitated momentarily before dialing a number.

After five or six rings, the call was answered.

A voice similar to Cecily's voice came through, "Grandfather, you're looking for me."

Mr. Fitzgerald's voice sounded somewhat gloomy, "Where were you last night?"

After a two-second pause, the voice on the other end of the phone chuckled lightly, "I've heard about what happened online. Is Grandfather suspecting me of hurting Mother?"

Mr. Fitzgerald didn't say anything. He pondered over it. Cecily wasn't dumb enough to leave behind all the evidence unless she really wanted to go to jail.

"It was me," Eliza calmly admitted.

Mr. Fitzgerald squinted his eyes, "Is it really you, Eliza? Have you gone mad?"

"Grandfather, don't worry. Mother is fine, right? I controlled my strength and didn't go too far. Although I caused some harm to Mother, this move was effective, wasn't it?"

"What exactly do you want?"

Now, even Mr. Fitzgerald didn't know what Eliza wanted to achieve.

"Grandfather, have you heard of The Silverwood?" Eliza asked in a casual tone.

Upon hearing the name, Mr. Fitzgerald's expression changed, "Are you referring to The Silverwood in the capital city?"

"Yes, after years of investigation, I found out that Cecily's mother, your enemy, Vivienne, is the owner of The Silverwood!"

Mr. Fitzgerald's expression underwent a significant change upon hearing this. After a long moment, he murmured, "No wonder, no wonder we couldn't find her after all these years."

The Silverwood was no less significant entity than Fitzgerald's Family, and it wouldn't be difficult to hide someone if they wanted to.

There had been rumors about the mysterious owner of The Silverwood, but he never expected it to be her.

Mr. Fitzgerald had been searching for her every day, but there was no trace of her. It turned out she had such a powerful background. No wonder, no wonder!

Mr. Fitzgerald's eyes gradually turned cold.

"But what does this have to do with you hurting Sandra?"

"I didn't mean to harm mother. It was Ophelia's stupidity that ended up implicating mother. All I wanted was to stir up trouble and make the people from The Silverwood see Cecily's face and come after her. And me, of course, I'll take her place in The Silverwood. Only by entering The Silverwood can I get close to Vivienne and gain her trust."

"The cruelest revenge is to let Vivienne watch as I replace her daughter, take everything she has, and destroy her and her beloved daughter, isn't it?" Eliza's voice was harsh, with a sickening excitement.

Mr. Fitzgerald listened silently, then suddenly chuckled coldly, "But your goal is not just to seek revenge for Phoenix, is it? You also have your eyes on their wealth at The Silverwood."

"Indeed, no secrets can be kept from you, Grandfather. There is a saying that if one does not act in their self-interest, then heaven and earth will annihilate them. I am grateful for my father's upbringing, and while seeking revenge for him, I also have to plan for my own future, don't I?"

"Your plan for the future is to take everything from The Silverwood, is that right?"

"Yes, Grandfather."

Eliza's voice carried a smirk, unabashedly admitting it.

"I spent eight years transforming myself into a completely different person. I also deserve an equal return, don't I? I want Silverwood's assets all. It is what I am entitled to."

Mr. Fitzgerald chuckled, "Phoenix raised a good daughter. If Phoenix hadn't died back then and had kept grooming you by his side until you grew capable, I'm afraid even the Fitzgerald Family would want to swallow you up."

Even though he didn't dare to entertain the thought of taking control of a massive family, she dared to think about it. She had secretly plotted for thirteen years. Just how ambitious was she?

"Grandfather, what if I told you that I did consider it?"

Mr. Fitzgerald's heart skipped a beat. Her voice was low, even through the phone. It gave an eerie feeling.

"Tsk." She smirked on the other end of the line as if joking, "Grandfather, I'm teasing you. Father raised me. How could I dare to have such rebellious thoughts?"

Though her tone sounded like a joke, Mr. Fitzgerald felt a knot in his heart and a few more apprehensions toward her.

One must know that a person who is ruthless, ambitious, intelligent, and resourceful is an extremely terrifying existence. You never know just how vast their ambitions are.

"Grandfather, let's leave it at this. Our goals are aligned. You want revenge for Father, and so do I. I hope this conversation between us today remains unknown to a third person."

"All right." Mr. Fitzgerald agreed and hung up the phone. He sat silently in his chair, narrowing his eyes.

Eliza was definitely not an easy opponent.
