Chapter 230 Can't Sleep

Cecily gave Aurelie a set of clothes, and Darian had already taken the children to the living room. Five minutes later, they all stood facing each other in the living room. Aurelie glanced at Darian, then at Cecily, and finally at the family of four. She felt a bit out of place here. Thinking back to what happened earlier in the restaurant, the two of them... Is this a reconciliation? Aurelie felt it best not to interfere with their relationship, so she picked up her bag.

"I understand." Not wanting to attract attention, Aurelie stood up to leave. With a "whoosh," she quickly slipped away. Cecily watched her go, unable to help but feel that Aurelie had become adept at escaping.

Cecily looked at Darian. "Are you really planning to stay here?"

"I'd freeze to death outside, so..." Darian lightly tugged at his lips. "You're pitying me, aren't you?"

Cecily nodded. She wasn't that cold-hearted to let him freeze outside. "You can stay in Rowan and Griffin's room; I've already tidied it up." Because the room was spacious, when Cecily initially prepared it for Griffin, she bought a large bed, enough for Darian to sleep in. Cecily pointed to the room and then took Rowan and Griffin into her own room.

Darian looked at the woman's back and couldn't help but smile bitterly. His son was indeed useful, but he didn't dare to overstep his boundaries in front of this woman.

Walking into the room, Darian leaned on the balcony, a cigarette between his fingers, unlit, perhaps afraid of leaving a smell in the children's room.

Cecily chatted with the two children for a while, and they soon fell asleep, lying next to her. Cecily, however, didn't feel sleepy. "Perhaps when one thinks too much, it's easy to have insomnia."

At two in the morning, Cecily came out to pour herself a glass of water. Because she was familiar with the house, she didn't turn on the light, instead walking by the moonlight that shone in, pouring herself a glass of water. Just as she was about to go back, she accidentally bumped into a person who looked like a wall.

Darian took off his coat, revealing the exceptionally soft fabric of his gray sweater. Cecily's heart trembled, a familiar scent entering her nostrils. Suddenly, his moist lips gently touched hers, and in the moonlight, this man found her lips with precision. It was just a light kiss, but Cecily's hand trembled, and most of the water in the cup spilled out.

"Can't sleep? Want to sit for a while?"

"Sit for a while?" Cecily looked up at Darian in shock. "Do you believe I'll kick you out right now?"

"Can't I sit for a while at your place?"

"Can you think of something other than these?" There was a two-second silence.

Darian's deep and gentle voice chuckled softly, "What are you thinking?" Cecily was instantly stunned. Darian touched her hot earlobe. "I said we'll just sit, not do anything else." Darian continued to smile, his laughter particularly low and pleasant, teasing and mocking. Cecily blushed at his laughter. It wasn't strange for her to have such thoughts, but it was Darian's kiss that had disturbed her heart.

"But if you want to do something else while sitting, I don't mind." Cecily's fingertips were even hot, and her eyes kept avoiding his gaze.

"No, thanks."

"Don't be polite. You can tell me if you want."

"...Get lost."

Darian smiled, sat on the sofa, and accidentally pressed the remote control, turning on the TV, which started playing the movie Cecily had been watching. The light from the TV also brightened the room. Seeing Cecily standing there, Darian gently patted the seat beside him.

"Come, sit for a while." Darian deliberately repeated, "Just sit, don't do anything else." Cecily tucked her hair behind her ear, considering going back to her own room but leaving like that would make her seem like she was avoiding something. Cecily hesitated for a moment. 'She's not even daring to sit on her own sofa?!' She walked over and sat down, leaving some distance, not too close or too far. Neither of them spoke, and it seemed like they were just unable to sleep, sitting down to watch a movie. But in reality, neither of them was really watching the movie.

Halfway through the movie, Darian felt a pressure on his shoulder. His heart was gently tugged. His chin lightly brushed against Cecily's sleeping forehead when he turned his head. He gently reached out and pulled her into his arms, a faint smile curling his lips. He carried the sleeping Cecily into the room, as if she were a precious treasure. Then he gently lay down beside her.

Cecily's body exuded a faint fragrance, a scent that could calm Darian's restless emotions. He lowered his head and gently kissed Cecily's smooth forehead, then closed his eyes, embracing her tenderly.

Cecily didn't know how she fell asleep, but when she woke up, she found herself in Rowan and Griffin's room. She rubbed her head, and her thoughts gradually became clear. The bright sunlight streamed into the room, and she quickly sat up and left the room. She didn't see Darian and the two children. Glancing at the time, Cecily realized it was already eight o'clock. 'The children should have been taken to school by Darian.' Cecily was about to freshen up when she noticed several exquisite lunch boxes on the table. She walked over and opened them, finding breakfast inside. There was a note next to it, saying, "Remember to eat." No extra words. 'This handwriting is Darian's.' Cecily's eyelashes trembled slightly. She casually put down the note and went to freshen up. After finishing everything and having breakfast, she left.

Just as she reached the garage, she heard a stern voice behind her, "Bitch, so you're not dead after all!" Cecily turned around and saw Tabitha rushing out from somewhere. After not seeing each other for two months, this once proud woman looked haggard, with deep eye sockets and many more white hairs on her head. 'It must be because of Ophelia's worries!' Cecily raised an eyebrow lightly. Although her body was not as strong as before, she was still able to easily avoid Tabitha's hand.

At that moment, four or five bodyguards in black suddenly appeared around them. They immediately subdued Tabitha. Tabitha struggled desperately, her eyes full of resentment. "Cecily Anderson! You're not dead after all! You've made Ophelia's life miserable, you bitch." Cecily didn't want to waste time with this person, and the bodyguards of the Fitzgerald family said decisively, "Cecily, you can leave. First, we will handle things here." 'These people should be the bodyguards Darian arranged around her house. Just to prevent them from causing trouble for her.' Cecily nodded.

"Okay."

Tabitha was still cursing angrily behind her, but Cecily had already left in the car. "Tabitha, don't cause any more trouble. The more you disturb Cecily, the worse Ophelia will be," the Fitzgerald family's bodyguard reminded. Tabitha cried, "Ophelia, how is she?" 'It's been two months. A full two months, and they haven't seen Ophelia. They don't even know if she's alive or dead.'

"She's alive," the bodyguard of the Bakery family could only say that.

Tabitha's business with Cecily was naturally reported to Darian.

Just then, a long table spanned the entire room, with two men sitting at either end, both with indifferent expressions. Blaise lounged in his chair, holding a large check in his hand, and he smirked slightly, looking at the man across from him, "2 billion dollars, what does this mean?"
