Chapter 526 Freya Went to Find Cecily

"Cecily can only be Darian's wife."

Cecily wanted to say, "I will." However, now they had more unavoidable choices.

When Cecily came out of the bathroom, Karen was about to knock on the door to check on her.

"Cecily, I called you just now, and you didn't answer. I was worried something happened to you," said Karen.

"Thanks for your concern. I just went to the bathroom," Cecily replied.

Cecily chatted with Karen for a bit and suggested that since the weather was nice, they should go for a walk. Karen, of course, agreed.

Evander stood silently in the back. He had said he wouldn't hurt Cecily, nor would he betray Percy, so he chose to help no one.

Karen tugged at Evander who was emotionally distressed. They couldn't go against Percy's wishes, so Karen compromised and tried to build a good relationship with Cecily, treating her as her future daughter-in-law.

Evander sneered. He knew Cecily was acting, Karen was acting, and so was he. He found it all very ironic.

The two stayed with Cecily until after dinner before heading back. Cecily had been acting almost the entire day, and she felt exhausted, but she couldn't stop.

Karen and Evander got into the car. Sitting in the passenger seat, Karen watched as Evander drove fast and sighed, "Don't go against your father. He's doing it for our family."

With one hand on the steering wheel, Evander drove casually while his other hand rested effortlessly on the open window, allowing the chilly wind to rush in.

"For our family?" Evander sneered, "He's doing it for his ambition. Don't make it sound so noble."

Karen sighed deeply and looked seriously at Evander. "Do you know why your father wants you to marry Cecily?"

Of course, Evander knew. He didn't understand why Karen was asking.

"Because Cecily is the sole heir of the Bennett family, and she holds shares in the Fitzgerald Group. If both the Bennett family and Fitzgerald Group shares end up in Cecily's hands in the future, how would your father get them from her?"

At the red light, Evander slammed on the brakes.

For a moment, everything around him felt silent.

Evander looked at Karen in disbelief. "He wouldn't keep Cecily alive. If Cecily dies unexpectedly, without a primary heir, all her inheritance would go to her husband."

As long as Cecily married into the Lockwood family and then killed her, all those assets would become inheritance, and all the shares could be taken.

Evander's hand on the steering wheel trembled with force.

Karen didn't speak, just nodding.

Evander gritted his teeth. "If Cecily doesn't want to marry me, what would he do then?"

"If Cecily disagrees, he would keep her alive? Car accidents, falls, kidnappings, assassinations—he has many ways to make someone disappear," Karen said calmly.

Evander's eyes burned with anger, and he felt a deep sense of helplessness.

"So Cecily really has no choice, does she?" he asked.

"You could say that. Do you know what your father's greatest strength is?" Karen raised an eyebrow. "It's that he's ruthless and makes others do his dirty work."

Wasn't it Percy who had given Josep the idea to kill Patrick back then?

Even after all these years, Karen still remembered the scene of Patrick's car exploding. It was truly horrific.

Because she knew Percy's methods, she didn't want Evander to go against him.

"So Evander, please not to think about resisting him. He is beyond your imagination." Karen patted Evander on the shoulder, speaking earnestly.

Evander's gaze carried a deep intensity, as if something within him was burning.

Maybe Cecily's decision was right. Percy had done too many wrong things. He should be punished.

Vivienne had taken the paternity test results to Bryan, and it had been a whole day without any news.

Cecily called, but there was no answer. Unexpectedly, she received a call from Bryan.

Cecily was somewhat surprised.

"Cecily, where have you taken Freya?"

Hearing Bryan's accusatory tone, Cecily was surprised but understood what he meant.

Cecily found it somewhat laughable.

Bryan was angry. "Cecily, I told you Freya had already been punished enough. Why won't you let her go? Do you really want her dead to be satisfied?

If you're still angry, take it out on me. I'm begging you, let her go," Bryan said in an urgent and pleading tone.

He had come home to find Freya missing, and Vivienne had been there during the day.

However, at this moment, Vivienne wasn't answering his calls, so he had to find Cecily.

Cecily thought for a moment. Vivienne had gone in the morning, and Bryan had only just discovered Freya was missing. Bryan didn't seem to have seen the paternity test results, so he probably wasn't home today. The person Vivienne met in the morning must have been Freya.

Now Freya was missing. Did Vivienne kidnap her? Cecily didn't think so.

Vivienne knew Freya was still useful to them, and her purpose today was to deliver the paternity test results, so there was no reason for her to suddenly act against Freya.

Cecily said, "She's missing, and you come to me? Am I her babysitter?"

"No one but you would take Freya at this time. I know Vivienne came by during the day. Is she with you now? Let her answer my call; I want to speak to her personally," Bryan shouted.

"I'll tell you again, Freya's disappearance has nothing to do with us," Cecily said.

Clearly, Bryan didn't believe it. "Let Vivienne answer my call."

Cecily didn't want to say more. "Is your home's surveillance just for show? You could have checked the footage in the time you're wasting questioning me. If you're so worried, tie a rope around her waist next time so she can't get lost."

With that, Cecily hung up and immediately blocked Bryan's number.

Cecily lay down and thought for a while, feeling something wrong was with Freya's sudden disappearance, so she called Vivienne again.

This time, Vivienne answered.

"Mom, Freya is missing. Do you know about it?"

"Yes," Vivienne replied.

Cecily raised an eyebrow. "Did you take her?"

"It wasn't me. I'll handle this. You just focus on recovering in the hospital," Vivienne instructed her.

On the other side, Bryan's face was sullen, and he exuded a cold aura.

Sam returned after checking the surveillance footage and said to the tense Bryan, "Mr. Whitaker, we found it."

"Was Freya taken by Vivienne?"

"No. Miss Cruz ran away herself when the bodyguards weren't paying attention."

As soon as Sam finished speaking, he felt a cold glare from Bryan.

"She ran away on her own?" Bryan asked.

"Yes."

Bryan slammed the table, questioning, "You said she managed to escape all by herself, avoiding so many people?"

Sam immediately showed the surveillance footage to Bryan. "Mr. Whitaker, Miss Cruz indeed ran away on her own. Look."

If it weren't for the surveillance footage, Bryan wouldn't have believed Freya had the capability to escape past so many bodyguards on her own.

"You did a pretty crap job!" Bryan scolded.

Sam lowered his head to take the scolding, showing no sign of guilt in front of the stern-faced Bryan.

"What did Vivienne say when she came today?"

"Mrs. Whitaker didn't say much. She came to see you, but you weren't home."

Bryan hesitated. Vivienne hated him, so if she came to see him personally, it must have been important.

Sam stood still, and Bryan lifted his eyelids to look at him, "Why are you still standing there? Go out and find her."

"Yes, Mr. Whitaker."

Sam quickly reacted and left with a group of people.

Bryan had a bad feeling that something terrible was going to happen. Bryan thought for a moment and decided to call Cecily to apologize.

However, he found out he had been blocked.

Bryan angrily threw his phone aside, sat on the sofa in silence, and after a long while, he got up helplessly to look for Freya.

At this moment, Freya, who had escaped from the villa, felt like she was dreaming.

She had actually escaped so easily.

She didn't suspect anything was wrong but thought she was just lucky.

Freya didn't have a phone, money, or transportation, but she had taken quite a few pieces of jewelry when she left.

She found a jewelry store that bought second-hand jewelry and sold them at a low price, but she still got tens of thousands of dollars, all in cash.

Next, she used the money to rent a car and drove straight to the Fitzgerald Manor, still hoping Josep would help her.

However, as soon as she arrived at the Fitzgerald Manor gate, the guards drove her away. No matter what she said, they wouldn't let her in.

Darian had given specific orders, so naturally, they wouldn't let Freya see Josep.

Freya didn't dare make too much of a scene and had to leave.

Unable to find anyone to help, she had to rely on herself. Freya got a can of gasoline and, filled with hatred, went to the hospital.

As Freya stood at the hospital entrance, her eyes were sinister, like a vengeful spirit.

"Cecily, why should I lose everything while you live well? Why should you take my father from me? If I can't have it, neither can you. If I'm going down, you're coming with me. No one gets to live."
