Chapter 185 Mr. Fitzgerald, the Paternity Test Report is Out

Owen immediately put away his smile and resumed a dignified expression.

Sawyer quickly said, "Mr. Fitzgerald, Mr. Fitzgerald Sr. just happened to come over to see the kids."

Darian glanced at the two sleeping children, saw nothing out of the ordinary, and then turned his attention to Owen. "What's the matter?"

"Is this the attitude you have when you see me?" Owen stared intently at Darian.

"Well, what attitude should I have? Should I kneel down to greet you?"

Not only Owen but even Sawyer was taken aback.

"Look, look," Owen pointed at Darian, looking at Sawyer. "He's angry with me because of something that happened during the day."

Sawyer quickly advised, "Don't be angry. Mr. Fitzgerald is just joking with you."

Owen hummed in a low voice, his temples throbbing.

Cecily got dressed and came out, only to see a furious Owen.

Their eyes met.

Cecily raised her delicate eyebrows slightly and politely greeted, "Grandpa Owen."

Owen withdrew his gaze and didn't respond to Cecily.

Cecily didn't say much either.

Addressing him was her way of showing respect to her elders, but whether he responded or not, she didn't care.

Sometimes, Cecily wondered what she had done wrong in the five years she married into the Fitzgerald family, which suddenly caused Owen's attitude toward her to change so drastically.

From affection to disgust and now to growing resentment.

Cecily didn't know what she did wrong.

Cecily walked over and poured a cup of coffee again.

No one spoke in the hospital room. Only the slight noise made by Cecily pouring the coffee created a tense atmosphere.

Cecily poured a cup of coffee for Owen, and Owen lowered his eyes and glanced at it. "I don't drink, take it away."

"Whatever, do what you want."

Darian picked it up and drank it all in one go.

Owen's face turned dark, and he glanced at Darian. "Do you want to make me angry?"

Darian raised an eyebrow, holding the empty cup. "Do you want to drink it?"

"I..." Owen was so angry that he almost exploded. "Sawyer, let's go."

One minute was unbearable.

"Mr. Fitzgerald, can't you be a little more considerate toward your grandpa?" Sawyer hurried to catch up with his belongings. "Sir, please slow down."

"Send two people to escort them back. Don't let anything unexpected happen," Darian motioned toward Larkin at the entrance.

Larkin nodded. "Got it."

Owen walked briskly with his cane. When Sawyer caught up to him, Owen roared, "Go! Give him the paternity test."

Seeing him with Cecily made him angry.

...

Cecily poured herself a glass of water and took a sip. "Are you sure it's okay to anger him like this?"

"He is strong. Didn't you see how quickly he walked?" Darian said calmly.

Cecily lightly tugged at her lip.

'Are you sure he wasn't enraged by the situation?' Cecily thought to herself.

"You should go back as well. It's very late," Cecily walked over and bent down to pick up Griffin, who was sleeping on the bed.

However, Darian beat her to it and placed the child on the bed, covering him with a blanket.

Cecily saw this and straightened up, her gaze falling on his handsome face. The faint scar from the branch had faded, but there was still a faint mark.

Cecily turned around and walked out. Ten minutes later, she came back with a tube of ointment in her hand.

"Where did you go?"

"To buy ointment."

Darian raised an eyebrow. "For me?"

"Yes."

Darian seemed satisfied with this answer and a faint smile appeared on his lips. "You do have a conscience."

Cecily squeezed a bit of the translucent ointment onto her fingertip. "Take a seat."

Darian obediently pulled out a chair and sat down, watching as she reached her hand toward his face.

Her nails were neatly trimmed, and her fingers were very beautiful.

Cecily bent down, tilted her head to the side, and her indifferent gaze fell on his profile. At such a close distance, Darian's eyes unconsciously darkened, and his sexy Adam's apple moved up and down.

Cecily finished applying the ointment for him, but when she tried to retract her hand, he suddenly raised his hand and held hers.

Cecily's hand was extremely soft, with a pleasant touch.

She wanted to pull her hand back, but he held on even tighter.

Cecily furrowed her brows, and her gaze unexpectedly collided with his eyes. Her heart felt as if it had been slightly jolted, causing ripples to spread.

Cecily regained her senses. "I'm just applying ointment for you, and you want to act indecently?"

Darian smirked and said, "So, in your eyes, I'm just a scoundrel. Is it abnormal for scoundrels to do scoundrel things now?"

He spoke with a righteous tone.

"Are you proud to be a scoundrel?" Cecily raised an eyebrow, meeting his gaze without flinching.

"Not exactly proud."

Cecily arched an eyebrow, meeting his gaze unflinchingly.

"What do you see?" Darian asked in a hoarse voice.

"You want to sleep with me," Cecily blurted out.

She knew that dark, lustful look in his eyes all too well.

"You want to sleep with me?" Cecily blurted out.

She was all too familiar with the dark look in Darian's eyes just now, unmistakably filled with desire.

Darian chuckled lightly, "So, will you sleep with me?"

"You really fit the title 'scoundrel.' From now on, I'll call you Scoundrel Darian."

Darian tightened his embrace, pulling her into his arms.

Caught off guard, Cecily ended up sitting on his lap. The unexpected contact left Cecily slightly flustered, instinctively placing her hand on his chest.

Darian looked down at her, "I don't like the name."

"I don't care if you like it or not. Let go of me."

Darian laughed, "Since I've been labeled a scoundrel, shouldn't I live up to that title?"

"S-shameless."

In the next moment, he lifted her head and pressed his slightly cool lips against her soft ones.

Cecily's heart skipped a beat.

The kiss was shallow.

Cecily stammered in anger, "You...shameless!"

This person was truly shameless beyond compare.

"Hush, speak softly. It wouldn't be good if those two woke up," Darian warned.

Seemingly, in response to Darian's words, Griffin turned over in bed.

Cecily immediately shut her mouth.

What if the two children saw them like this? What would they think?

Luckily, Griffin found a comfortable position and continued sleeping.

Cecily breathed a sigh of relief and shifted her gaze back to Darian. Annoyed and ashamed, she pushed him away. "If you want, I can help you find someone. Considering that I hurt you during the day and you just helped me apply medicine, I can repay you by finding women for you. Three or four would do."

Darian's expression turned cold. "Do you think I have feelings for anyone?"

"I'm not you. How would I know?" Cecily walked over to the door and opened it. "All right, Mr. Fitzgerald, it's late. Since you don't need me to find someone for you, please go ahead."

Darian's gaze became heavy and cold once again.

This woman truly had a talent for infuriating others.

He glanced toward the door and narrowed his eyes, "What is it?"

Cecily turned her head and only then noticed the bodyguard who had just arrived at the door. The bodyguard, having witnessed the tension between them earlier, didn't dare to speak at the moment.

"Mr. Fitzgerald, the paternity test report is out."

Upon hearing this, the two of them silently exchanged a glance.

Darian's hand tightened slightly as his dark eyes hesitated.

Cecily's heart pounded.

After all these years, when she confronted Darian with this truth, she couldn't help but feel nervous herself.

She had no idea how he would react when he found out the child was his.

She also feared that he would react the way she imagined.

After knowing that the child was his, he would fight for custody of both children.

Their prominent family would never allow their descendants to be left in the outside world.

Cecily clenched her fists as she watched the bodyguard hand the paternity test report to Darian.
