Chapter 677 Does This Mean Our Baby Has Come Back?

Cecily's heart tightened.

"Obstetrics and gynecology?" Darian's breathing grew heavier as he looked at Cecily, his heart suddenly pounding.

Cecily placed her hand on her pulse, her expression gradually becoming complex.

Nausea, dry heaving, loss of appetite, drowsiness—these were all common symptoms of pregnancy.

Cecily slapped her forehead.

She had been experiencing these symptoms for a while but never considered this possibility.

She had always thought her lack of appetite was due to her bad mood.

Cecily felt a bit guilty; she had been too careless, but fortunately, nothing serious had happened.

Cecily's emotions were mixed as she looked at Darian in front of her.

Every time they made love, Darian took precautions. Clearly, he didn't want children because he knew Cecily's health wasn't good and didn't want her to endure the hardships of pregnancy and childbirth.

Besides, they already had Rowan and Griffin, which was enough.

Although Darian really wanted a daughter, when it came to Cecily's health, he chose the latter.

Cecily looked at Darian, trying to read his expression.

The doctor, seeing Cecily's expression during her self-diagnosis, smiled slightly. Just as he was about to offer congratulations, Darian bent down and scooped Cecily up.

Cecily instinctively wrapped her arms around Darian's neck, startled. "Where are we going?"

"The hospital."

Cecily couldn't read Darian's expression, but she could feel the tension radiating from him.

Desmond arrived with some soup, only to see Darian hurriedly leading Cecily out.

"Mrs. Fitzgerald, Mr. Fitzgerald, where are you going now?" Desmond asked.

"The hospital," Darian said, not looking back as he left with Cecily.

Seeing Darian so tense, Cecily suddenly found it amusing. Leaning into his arms, she teased, "Darian, it seems I really spoke it into existence."

She had joked during that fake wedding that maybe there was already a baby in her belly.

And now it had come true.

Darian's face was tense as he placed Cecily in the car. The driver started the car, and Darian and Cecily sat in the back seat. Seeing his clenched hands, Cecily knew he was nervous.

Cecily reached out and hooked her arm around Darian's neck, chuckling softly. "Darian, are you nervous?"

"Don't talk." Darian pulled her into his arms. "You need to close your eyes and rest. I'll wake you when we get to the hospital."

Cecily was too excited to feel sleepy. She lifted her head from his chest, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Darian. "I'm really excited right now, not sleepy at all."

Cecily placed Darian's hand on her lower abdomen. "Feel it. Maybe it's the daughter you wanted, or maybe another son."

Darian's hand rested on Cecily's lower abdomen, not daring to move. His expression unreadable.

It was hard to tell if he was happy or sad.

Cecily bit her lip. "Why aren't you smiling?"

Darian pressed the still-excited Cecily back into her seat. "Sit properly."

Cecily blinked, looking like a well-behaved child.

The moment Darian's hand left, Cecily grabbed it again. "Darian, what's wrong? Why do you seem unhappy?"

Darian's lips tightened as he looked at Cecily, his eyes deepening.

Cecily stared at him, puzzled, and gently stroked his furrowed brow with her fingers. "You're still frowning."

Darian sighed, pressing her back into her seat, looking a bit troubled. "Be good, sit properly. Don't fuss."

Cecily shifted. "You haven't answered my question."

Darian pinched the bridge of his nose. "I'm happy, but I don't want you to suffer."

"I don't feel like I'm suffering." Cecily leaned on Darian's shoulder, finally smiling contentedly when he said he was happy.

"Rest for a while. It's been a long night." Darian took out a blanket and covered Cecily up to her chin, wrapping her tightly.

Cecily actually wanted to say there was no need to go to the hospital; she was sure she was pregnant.

And it probably happened at the bridal shop, so she was about two months pregnant.

Cecily was both surprised and delighted during the diagnosis.

The last baby had always been a pain in her heart, so she was undoubtedly happy about this one.

Unable to contain her joy, Cecily couldn't sit still for a few minutes before poking her head out, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Darian. "Darian, I'm really happy. Does this mean our baby has come back?"

Darian gently rubbed Cecily's head, his eyes softening with a hint of melancholy.

It wasn't that he didn't look forward to this child, but he was worried about Cecily's health.

"I need to tell my mom the good news. Maybe if she's happy, she'll come back, right?" Cecily eagerly took out her phone to message Vivienne.

Vivienne hadn't answered her calls recently, so Cecily could only message her.

Cecily knew she would see it.

Darian's heart tightened as Cecily, still excited, focused on messaging Vivienne, not noticing Darian's arm tightening around her.

From an angle she couldn't see, Darian's expression was a mix of complexity and conflict.

"Darian, do you think my mom will come back when she hears I'm pregnant?" Cecily asked while messaging.

Seeing Cecily so excited and happy, Darian's heart ached. "Cecily."
