Chapter 571: I'm Not Getting Married

Josep was freaking out big time.

'Damn it, I have shipped Milton overseas. How the hell did they nab him?'

"Spill it! Who was in the video with you? Who put you up to this? If you don't come clean, you're toast," Percy squinted, his voice dripping with menace.

Josep's heart was pounding, sweat pouring down his face. Milton was a nervous wreck, shooting glances at him.

Percy caught on and sneered, "It was Josep, wasn't it?"

Milton stayed silent.

"I'm asking you a question. You better fess up. You're already busted. Even if you don't talk, I'll find out. I'm giving you a shot here. Was it him?"

"Percy!" Josep yelled, desperate.

"Yes!" Milton's voice shook as he shouted.

Josep's face went pale.

He was grinding his teeth so hard they might break.

Percy glanced at Josep and kept grilling Milton, "Who was the woman in the video? Look closely. Which one of these two is it?"

Percy dragged Milton in front of Cecily and the trembling Eliza, "Tell me, who is it? They might look the same, but if you look closely, you can tell. Don't tell me you can't recognize her."

The woman in the video had her eyes covered with a thin veil, showing just enough to make it tough to ID her.

But in person, with the two side by side, it was clear—one had her eyes shut, and the other had bright eyes.

"Spit it out," Percy snapped, losing patience.

"It's her!" Milton pointed straight at the cowering Eliza.

Percy laughed, "Say it again, louder. Who told you to do this? Who's the woman in the video?"

"It was Mr. Fitzgerald who told me to do it. The woman in the video is this blind chick, but I don't know her name. I was just in it for the cash. I won't do it again. Please let me go," Milton shouted, loud enough for everyone to hear.

Eliza, hearing her was called out, freaked out.

She couldn't see and was stumbling around like a headless chicken.

She bumped into Cecily, who steadied her, looking at her with a calm expression, "Eliza."

Hearing Cecily's voice, Eliza got even more agitated. She grabbed Cecily's arm, making sounds but unable to speak.

"You can't talk anymore?" Cecily frowned and looked at Darian, who raised an eyebrow indifferently.

Cecily got it. Eliza saw everything that night of the fire. No way Darian would let her go back to Josep.

It turned out Darian had someone give her a mute drug and tossed her back to Fitzgerald Manor. Otherwise, Josep would have been suspicious if he couldn't find her.

And now, since Josep couldn't catch Cecily, he dragged Eliza out again.

Cecily looked down at the pitiful Eliza and sighed, "So, Eliza, what good did it do to make yourself look like me? You spent eight years living as me, only to push yourself into an endless abyss."

A bodyguard stepped up to drag Eliza away, but she was still losing it, trying to lunge at Cecily, hell-bent on revenge.

But she was out of chances.

Percy shrugged and spread his hands, "Y'all heard that, right? The woman in the video is Eliza, not Cecily. This was all Josep's plan to wreck the wedding."

The crowd buzzed, "So that's it. No wonder Cecily was so chill when she saw the video. It really wasn't her."

A guest piped up, "Why would Josep do this? What's in it for him to mess up someone else's wedding?"

"You don't know? Cecily still has shares in the Fitzgerald Group. Once she marries into the Lockwood family, those shares go with her. Josep already fought with Cecily over the shares before. Now that she's taking them to the Lockwood family, of course, he's pissed," someone explained.

"Got it."

Listening to the chatter and seeing Percy's smug face, Josep stood there, pale and shaking with rage.

"Now it's all clear, right? So, let's kick this troublemaker out. He's not welcome. Cecily and Evander's wedding will go on," Percy said, looking at Josep like, "See? I win."

"The wedding will continue," the moderator announced.

"Who said it would continue?" Cecily's voice cut through, shattering Percy's fantasy.

Percy hadn't even processed it yet. He looked at Cecily's icy face and asked, "What's wrong, Cecily? Got something to say?"

Cecily grabbed a microphone, "Excuse me, who said the wedding would continue?"

"What do you mean?" Percy squinted, staring at her.

Cecily ripped off her veil and tossed it aside, "I mean, I'm not getting married."

The Lockwood family members were thrown off by Cecily's sudden move.

Percy frowned hard, "What do you mean? Are you joking?"

Karen rushed over, picked up the veil, and hurried back to Cecily, "Cecily, what do you mean? Today is your wedding. Don't make a scene. Let's finish the wedding. Everyone's watching. Don't joke around, okay?"

"Aunt Karen, I'm not joking. I'm not getting married." Cecily pushed Karen's hand away, the one trying to put the veil back on her, with a firm attitude, showing she wasn't kidding.

Karen looked at Cecily, then at Percy's angry face, and finally at Evander, who had been silent in the back.

Evander's bouquet, which he hadn't handed over yet, gently fell to the ground, petals scattering, a scene of desolation.

He lifted his eyelids, his handsome face calm.

After a few seconds, Evander let out a cold, silent laugh, his eyes chillingly cold.

In his eyes, there was no sadness, surprise, or disappointment.

Evander closed his eyes. Everything was as expected.

A wedding full of hidden agendas and schemes was never going to go smoothly.
